"The plan is to stand pat with all our guys and get this thing moving in the right direction," Warner said after Wednesday's practice. "No coach ever wants to have to shuffle guys in and out and try to find the best mixture. You want to know it, and have it, and play with it." HC Dennis Green agreed, as long as the team is doing well – not exactly a ringing endorsement. In other words, Warner needs to win to stick as the starter.

*** Thursday Update *** QB Michael Vick (ATL) thinks he could play with Terrell Owens, but Owens would need to understand who is boss. Vick said, "He would have to understand my style of play and what I do and if he can do that, he can be here. Other than that, this is my team. I run the ball a little bit more than other quarterbacks. It would take away from some of his catches. You've got to be a team player when you come here." That said Vick didn’t exactly say he wanted the team to go after Owens. "I don't know. It would help but I feel like we've got all the right pieces here to be successful and to win football games," Vick said.

Otherwise he'll be third."

*** Saturday Update *** QB Daunte Culpepper (MIN) will undergo surgery to repair three torn ligaments in his right knee next week. RB Thomas Jones (CHI) may indeed have a cracked rib. One day after saying Jones doesn't have a cracked rib HC Lovie Smith said Monday the Bears "haven't ruled that out." Smith then added the Bears feel "it's safe to say" Jones' ribs are merely bruised. But either way, Smith sounded like a coach leaning toward resting his leading rusher Sunday when the Bears play host to San Francisco. "Thomas has an injury right now, which is giving RB Cedric Benson and RB Adrian Peterson a chance."

Parcells was asked if Jones was still the team’s starting back. "Well, he was," Parcells said of Jones being the starter. "But will he start this game? I can't tell you."

*** Thursday Update *** RB Julius Jones (DAL) should start Monday night but look for the team to use a rotation of running backs as the team likely won't over work Jones.

*** Wednesday Update *** RB Julius Jones (DAL) will be available in some capacity when the Cowboys play at Philadelphia on Monday (he’s not even on the injury report). While he didn't mention how, HC Bill Parcells did say he plans to use Jones and rookies Marion Barber and Tyson Thompson rather than rely on one back. "I think now we have a good situation here," Parcells said. "We have three kids I'll put in the game, and I think they can all carry the ball. I think you better get used to that around here."

RB Tony Fisher (GB) said he was hopeful, but could not be certain, that he would play next week at Atlanta. HC Mike Sherman said Fisher could be out a couple of weeks. He was inactive with a broken right uppermost rib, and that's about all Sherman knew. He said playing posed the risk of getting blood in the lungs, puncturing a lung or endangering the heart. "I'm exposing my heart," Fisher said. "When you're talking about the ribs, you're talking the major arteries and major organs."

RB Sam Gado (GB) will likely start for the team in week ten. Although Tony Fisher may return from his rib injury sooner than expected.

*** Wednesday Update *** RB Domanick Davis (HOU) practiced on Wednesday but remains questionable for week ten.

*** Wednesday Update *** RB Mewelde Moore (MIN) practiced on Wednesday and is expected to play in week ten. However, it looks like Michael Bennett will get the start.

RB Mewelde Moore (MIN) has just a sprained right wrist according to Monday’s MRI, but Vikings coach Mike Tice will be keeping a close eye on his No. 1 running back this week. "I always talk about body language," Tice said. "Guys who get the ball — running backs, quarterbacks, kickers, return guys — if their body language isn't good, it scares me with them. We'll see how Mewelde's body language is. Hopefully … he'll go out and practice all week." We think that’s Tice-speak for “Don’t be surprised to see Michael Bennett start against the Giants.”

*** Friday Update *** RB Corey Dillon (NE) partially practiced again and is slated to start even though he's less than 100%.

*** Friday Update *** RB Willie Parker (PIT) missed practice Friday and it's looking like he will not play in week ten.

*** Thursday Update *** RB Willie Parker (PIT) and Jerome Bettis are optimistic they might play Sunday. Parker injured his ankle in the first quarter of the Green Bay game last week but fought through the pain until early in the third. "I would have hurt the team if I went back in," said Parker. "I'll see how I am this week and hopefully I should be ready." Bettis, out last week with the quad injury, said having Staley healthy is paying instant dividends. WR Charles Rogers (DET) has been activated to the team’s 53-man roster. “Hopefully, Charles can have a good week of practice and contribute. I haven't had a player come off a suspension like that before,” HC Mariucci said. “I trust he'll have one heck of a week.”

Holt will wear a knee brace against Seattle. "I don't necessarily like the brace, but I understand what it is there for," Holt said. "It definitely allows me to have some confidence; it definitely allows me to have some stability in the knee. I'll continue to wear it. I'll continue to practice in it. It restricts me a little bit," Holt said. "I can't pick them up and put them down as quickly as I would like to." The sprained PCL has reportedly been diagnosed as a grade 2 sprain which by definition means it is actually a partially torn ligament. He's practiced and is expected to start Sunday. Although we'd advise caution.
