According to a person with knowledge of the situation, QB Brad Johnson told Rob Brzezinski, Vikings vice president of football operations, that he wants to be traded if he isn't going to remain the starter. However, Johnson’s agent Phil Williams denied that Johnson told the team if he is not their starting quarterback in 2006 he wants to be traded. "I don't know exactly what was said, but I know Brad's never used those words," Williams said Thursday. "He wants to be a starter, no question, and he should be. There's nothing more to it than that."

*** Friday Update *** QB Kerry Collins (OAK) may very well return to Oakland next season according to owner Al Davis. "I think that would depend on who we talk to, what is available," said Davis. "Right now, Steve is a Titan, and he wants to be a Titan, but you don't know what they're going to do,'" Cook said Thursday, Jan. 4. "But if he's not with them, I'm sure he'd be amenable to playing for Miami. They've done a good job down there to turn the team around, and he's still a playmaker." Remember that McNair has a $50 million roster bonus due in March that Tennessee will be unable to pay.

There are rumors Gray will either resign or be let go. Bills owner Ralph C. Wilson Jr. fueled the speculation, perhaps inadvertently, Thursday when he said, "I would like to meet whoever is going to be the offensive and defensive coordinators." Gray said Thursday that he has not resigned, and if he has been fired it is news to him.

*** Friday Update *** TM Dallas Cowboys (DAL) HC Bill Parcels has agreed to a contract extension that will keep him in Dallas through the 2007 season.

He was taken to an area hospital, and was subsequently provided with medications which the team believes will help Jimoh manage the condition through the upcoming playoffs.

*** Wednesday Update *** DB Carlos Rogers (WAS) practiced on Wednesday and is expected to be available for Saturday's playoff game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers after missing three games with a torn biceps. "I'll be ready, no doubt," Rogers said. "If it hurts, it hurts."

*** Friday Update *** DB Shawn Springs (WAS) missed practice on Thursday and is considered to be a game-time decision for this weekend's playoff game. "We'll work him out, just because he's a vet who has been in a lot of big games before," assistant head coach-defense Gregg Williams said. "We've tried to rest him as much as we can, but we feel good about the guys that have practiced all week long. If we can get him, that's a bonus."

*** Wednesday Update *** DB Shawn Springs (WAS) aggravated a groin injury in the first half of Sunday's victory over the Philadelphia Eagles. An MRI taken on Monday showed tears in the muscle. The team does not expect Springs to practice much this week, and his status for this weekend's playoff game is currently unknown.

*** Friday Update *** TM Buffalo Bills (BUF) Tom Clements is out as the Buffalo Bills' offensive coordinator. As for the status of defensive coordinator Jerry Gray, stay tuned. There are rumors Gray will either resign or be let go. Bills owner Ralph C. Wilson Jr. fueled the speculation, perhaps inadvertently, Thursday when he said, "I would like to meet whoever is going to be the offensive and defensive coordinators." Gray said Thursday that he has not resigned, and if he has been fired it is news to him.

*** Wednesday Update *** TM Buffalo Bills (BUF) GM and president Tom Donahoe has been fired. Former HC Marv Levy has signed on the with the team to be their head of football operations. There is talk that HC Mick Mularkey is on shaky ground as well.

*** Friday Update *** TM Dallas Cowboys (DAL) HC Bill Parcels has agreed to a contract extension that will keep him in Dallas through the 2007 season.

That assumes Edwards does not leave for the Chiefs HC position. Pennington says he expects to win the job. "There are no questions people can ask about the success of our team when I've been healthy," said Pennington. "We've done some really good things and made history as an organization. I have history and proof of that and I expect to be the starter." In related news, Pennington is slated to begin throwing a football again in two to three months.
