Bengals CB Deltha O'Neal had a big day in his team's 37-8 win over the Vikings. O'Neal, in his second year with the team, had 7-2 tackles and three interceptions. All three of his interceptions came in the second half…

Believe it or not, three is not the most interceptions O'Neal has had in one game. In his second season in the NFL, O'Neal had four interceptions in one game against KC…

Last week I wrote about two Bengal rookies, LB Odell Thurman and DE/LB David Pollack, making an impact on defense. In week two, Thurman still made an impact with 2-2 tackles and a pair of forced fumbles. Thurman would have had three forced fumbles if it weren't for an offsides penalty on Pollack. Pollack lined up offside another time in the game and it also cost the team a fumble. Pollack had only one solo tackle to his credit Sunday…

Vikings safety Corey Chavous has 17 total tackles after two games. That's more than he had in any two consecutive games last season. Expectations seemed high for Chavous, always known as one of the games most cerebral players, after his big season in 2003 when he had career highs in solo tackles, total tackles and a blistering eight interceptions. He was a top IDP that year. He crashed back to earth last season but he could turn things around a bit this year and his value is solid…

Colts DE Robert Mathis is getting harder and harder to avoid. I stated in last week's column that he's a guy that should be on the field more and he's proving to be one of the game's best playmakers at DE. In Sunday's 10-3 win over Jacksonville, Mathis had 5-2 tackles, a sack (his second of the year) and a forced fumble…

Last season, Colts DT Monte Reagor had five sacks, which was more than he had in his previous five NFL seasons combined. After sitting out week one due to injury, Reagor looks to increase that total again, as he had three sacks, a career game high…

I had picked S Bob Sanders as a top IDP this season, and after a game one to forget Sanders bounced back with 9-2 tackles and seemed to be all over the field. He's especially impressive against the run, and his first seven tackles were against either a RB or QB…

Speaking of safeties providing run support, Steelers S Troy Polamalu is a man amongst boys. In Pittsburgh's 27-7 win over Houston, Polamalu had six solo tackles and three sacks. That's as many sacks as Polamalu had in his first two seasons combined. Now in his third season, Polamalu is getting better and better and is a top 5 DB any way you look at it…

Titan's DE Kyle Vanden Bosch had the best game of his NFL career Sunday as Tennessee surprised the Ravens, beating them 25-10. Vanden Bosch had a career high three sacks (he only had a total of four in his first 35 NFL games) to go with 4-1 tackles. His third sack almost gave him a safety as well…

Vanden Bosch was a high second round draft pick for Arizona in the 2001 NFL draft. There were a lot of high expectations placed on him based on his high motor and ability to do well against the run and pass. Injuries marred much of his time in Arizona and even when healthy he ultimately proved to be a disappointment. Vanden Bosch has been thrust into the starting lineup and could be one to keep an eye on…

Rams DE had another effective game with 4-1 tackles, a sack, a forced fumble and a recovered fumble in the Rams 17-12 win over Arizona. Don't look now, but Little should be on track again for a double digit sack season and his tackle numbers should approach career highs if he keeps his play up. He's a top five DE at this rate…

I pumped up Cards DT Darnell Dockett last year as a guy who could become a huge impact in FF. Against the Rams he had 4-1 tackles, a sack and an interception. Dockett has a bull rush matched by few other DTs…

After a virtual shut out in week one, Falcons MLB Edgerton Hartwell finally got into the swing of things with 5-3 tackles in Sunday's 21-18 loss against Seattle. Atlanta paid a goodly sum for Hartwell and they pray he pays off…

It's no longer news when Miami LB Zach Thomas gets more than ten tackles in a game. That seems par for the course. But the 36 year-old LB Junior Seau had 10-2 tackles and a sack in their 17-7 loss to the Jets. Some had already written off Seau…

With the amount of time I extol the virtues of Thomas you'd think I'd own him in one of my dynasty leagues…

It's not often you see a guy get 19 total tackles in a single game, but that's exactly what Browns LB Andra Davis did Sunday in their 26-24 surprise win at Green Bay. Davis had 12-7 tackles and could be an excellent pick up in your league if he's still there. He's only one year removed from a 136 tackle season and a knee injury cut last year's season short. While healthy last year, Davis didn't look like the same player from 2003, but he sure does this year, with double digit tackles in his first two games…

Chief's LB Kendrell Bell has been a starter the first two games but you'd hardly know it by looking at the box scores. In Sunday's 23-17 win over the Raiders, Bell didn't register a single assist. He was on the field a lot but seemed to be moving away from the ball and not towards it…

Raiders LB's Danny Clark and rookie Kirk Morrison are both averaging about ten total tackles per game and had a combined 21 tackles between them Sunday…

Until next week…
