Week 18 Early Injury Report


Quarterback

QB Byron Leftwich - JAX

Leftwich sat out the game on Sunday after testing his ankle during practices last week - he is expected to be the teams' starting QB in the playoffs.

QB Eli Manning - NYG

Manning tweaked a knee during the game on Saturday, but he reported little pain after the game and this injury is considered minor. Manning said he "had a little pain for a little bit, but I feel fine now."

QB Carson Palmer - CIN

Palmer's sore groin was not aggravated on Sunday - the team planned to pull him in advance of the game to protect him for the upcoming playoff game. "My groin felt great," said Palmer after the game. "I could've ended up playing the whole game, but coach just wanted to let some of the starters rest. Looking back now, I'm glad he did. I'm glad I let my groin rest and other guys didn't have to play the whole game."


Running Back

RB Rich Alexis - JAX

Alexis was sidelined again on Sunday due to his injured groin - he was listed as questionable on Friday.

RB Mike Anderson - DEN

Anderson was held out of the game on Sunday to rest his sore ankle - he's expected to be back in the lineup for the Bronco's upcoming playoff game.

RB Tiki Barber - NYG

LB Tedy Bruschi - NE

Bruschi missed the game on Sunday due to his injured calf (he was listed as questionable on Friday). "I'm doing my best to get back, getting treatment as many times as I can," Bruschi said. "I'm doing it each day, really... The playoffs are a different thing, but I've got to make sure I'm right before anything. Because if I'm not able to play, if I'm not able to do the things I can do, I don't want to hurt the team out there. So my main focus is getting my treatments."

LB Carlos Emmons - NYG

Emmon's season is over after being placed on IR due to a pectoral injury that was aggravated - team doctors feared Emmons might tear the muscle completely.

LB Andre Frazier - PIT

Frazier missed the game on Sunday due to his sore hamstring - he was listed as questionable on Friday.

LB Nick Greisen - NYG

DB Jermaine Phillips - TB

"I was really hurting before [the penalty], but I couldn't get off the field," Springs said. "It's pretty bad. I'll probably get an MRI tomorrow. I'm happy that we're in the playoffs, but I don't know if I'll be in there. I'm glad we've got good backups."
