Week 7 Early Injury Report

Quarterback

QB Kyle Boller - BAL

Boller continues to miss games due to his injured toe (out on Friday).

QB Jake Delhomme - CAR

Jake Delhomme was knocked out of the game on Sunday by a blow to the head as he was sliding to complete a scramble. He stayed down on the turf and had to be helped from the field - backup Chris Weinke stepped in and led the team on a game-winning drive. After the game coach Fox indicated that Delhomme's injury was not serious, but said Delhomme knew "what city he was in and the team he had been playing against, but that was about it." The team will keep a close eye on Delhomme for post-concussion after-effects as the week goes by.

QB Jay Fiedler - NYJ

Fiedler's bad shoulder kept him out of the game on Sunday as expected.

QB Jeff Garcia - DET

Garcia is still missing games (ankle, out on Friday), but was working out with the team last week. Just about everyone is screaming for Joey Harrington's head right now, so Garcia could see game time if he can get healthy enough.

QB Brian Griese - TB

Griese was forced out of the game on Sunday when his left knee was sprained after a defender "rolled up" on his planted leg. The severity of the sprain will be evaluated further once the swelling reduces - his status for next week isn't known. The team has evaluated the injury with MRIs and is refusing to release the results before Griese gets a second opinion -- not a good sign. Said coach Gruden "It could be a few weeks, it could be the end of the season. We don't know for sure. We should know something here in the next day or so, and then I'm sure he'll get some other opinions, so it could be a couple of days. But we're obviously very concerned, and we should be."

QB Rex Grossman - CHI

Grossman missed the game on Sunday as expected (ankle, out on Friday).

QB Chad Pennington - NYJ

Pennington's torn rotator cuff kept him out of the game on Sunday, as expected.

QB Ben Roethlisberger - PIT

Roethlisberger couldn't play on Sunday due to his badly sprained knee (doubtful on Friday).

QB Michael Vick - ATL

Vick had his sore knee tweaked during the game on Sunday, but shook off the impact and completed the game without further incident.

Running Back

RB Ladell Betts - WAS

Betts missed the game on Sunday due to his injured groin (doubtful on Friday's injury report).

RB Derrick Blaylock - NYJ

Blaylock missed the game on Sunday due to his broken ankle, as expected (out on Friday's injury report).

RB Corey Dillon - NE

Dillon was a surprise game-time bench warmer after coach Belichick decided in pre-game warmups that Dillon was "not physically able to go". Dillon was dressed for the game and stood around on the sidelines in pads, but didn't touch the ball at all.

RB T.J. Duckett - ATL

Duckett was forced out of the game on Sunday due to an ankle injury, and he did not return to action. His injury will be evaluated further on Monday. The initial diagnosis is a "high" ankle sprain, which is a sprain of the two big ligaments that keep the lower leg bones together - it's considered the most serious ankle sprain a player can suffer. Duckett's scheduled for an MRI, saying "I'll know more [Monday]".

RB Kevin Faulk - NE

Faulk missed the game on Sunday, as expected (foot/leg, out on Friday).

RB Troy Fleming - TEN

Fleming missed the game on Sunday due to his bum right ankle (questionable on Friday's injury report). He was still in a walking boot on Sunday and unable to play anywhere near 100%.

RB DeShaun Foster - CAR

Foster missed the game on Sunday due to his injured knee (doubtful on Friday's injury report).

RB Brad Hoover - CAR

Hoover's shoulder kept him sidelined, despite being listed as probable on Friday's injury report.

RB Larry Johnson - KC

Johnson tweaked his left thigh during the game on Sunday - the severity of the injury isn't known as of Monday morning.

RB Julius Jones - DAL

Jones couldn't play on Sunday due to his injured ankle (questionable on Friday's injury report).

RB Kevin Jones - DET

Jones injured his shoulder (rotator cuff) during the game and was very limited after attempting to return to action with a brace on the injury. He'll be evaluated further on Monday.

RB Ovie Mughelli - BAL

Mughelli suffered a sprained ankle during the game. A MRI is scheduled to evaluate the severity of the injury.

RB Patrick Pass - NE

Pass injured his hand early in the game, but returned to action 2 plays later - the injury is considered minor at this point.

RB Clinton Portis - WAS

Portis was limping after the game vs. K.C. due to a bruised shin, and also had other minor bumps and bruises. None of the injuries are considered major as of Monday morning, but keep an eye on his progress as the week goes along. He is also nursing a sore calf that kept him limited in practice last week. Portis commented "I've got all week to think about the pain in my leg. As long as I can stand and as long as I can go, I'll go."

RB Alan Ricard - BAL

Ricard was once again inactive due to his injured calf (questionable on Friday's injury report).

RB Cory Schlesinger - DET

Schlesinger missed another game on Sunday due to his healing leg (questionable on Friday's injury report).

RB Rod Smart - CAR

Smart hated to be sidelined, but couldn't play on Sunday due to his injured groin (doubtful on Friday's injury report).

RB Darren Sproles - SD

Sproles missed the game on Sunday due to his injured ankle (questionable on Friday's injury report).

RB Mack Strong - SEA

Strong bruised his chest and suffered a pinched nerve in the shoulder on Sunday, and did not play in the second half. He was replaced by Leonard Weaver. After the game, Strong indicated he'll play as usual in the next game - Shaun Alexander hopes so, because Strong's blocking prowess is a big part of why Alexander has such gaping holes to run through this year.

RB Lee Suggs - CLE

Suggs' season of frustration continued on Sunday, as he was inactive due to a thumb injury.

RB Fred Taylor - JAX

Taylor missed the game on Sunday due to his ankle injury (questionable on Friday's injury report).

RB Cadillac Williams - TB

Williams was sidelined for another game on Sunday due to his sore arch/injured hamstring (questionable on Friday's injury report).

Wide Receiver

WR Drew Bennett - TEN

Bennett suffered a dislocated (or perhaps broken) thumb during the game on Sunday. He'll be evaluated further as the week goes along, but remember the Titans are notoriously tightlipped about the true status of their players - current speculation in the local press is that he may miss some time due to the injury. Bennett commented after the game, "I came up and it kind of felt funny. I came over to the sideline and there’s a pain in my joint. I couldn’t make a fist. The joint is messed up."

WR Deion Branch - NE

Branch reported blacking out briefly after being hit by Denver LB Al Wilson during the game Sunday, but he returned to game play. His injury isn't considered major at this point.

WR Troy Brown - NE

Brown was sidelined on Sunday due to his injured foot (questionable on Friday's injury report).

WR Nate Burleson - MIN

Burleson continues to be sidelined due to his injured knee (out on Friday).

WR Mark Clayton - BAL

Clayton injured his ankle during the game on Sunday, and will be evaluated further on Monday. After the game, Clayton indicated that the injury was not serious.

WR Keary Colbert - CAR

Colbert suffered an ankle injury that sidelined him for the rest of the game on Sunday - he'll be evaluated further as the week goes along to determine the severity of the ankle injury.

WR Patrick Crayton - DAL

Crayton appeared to break his ankle during the game against the Giants - he was wearing a large cast after the game. He's probably done for the season. Can Peerless Price step in for Crayton? Stay tuned...

Horn aggravated his hamstring injury early in the game on Sunday, and was sidelined for the rest of the contest. "I couldn't go, it just wasn't working" he said after the game.

WR T.J. Houshmandzadeh - CIN

Houshmandzadeh missed another game this week due to his hand injury (doubtful on Friday's injury report).

WR Darrell Jackson - SEA

Jacksons' injured knee kept him out of the game on Sunday, as expected (out on Friday's injury report).

WR Andre Johnson - HOU

Johnson missed the game on Sunday due to his injured calf (questionable on Friday's injury report). He played only 1 series the week before, so Johnson has missed almost 2 complete games due to this injury.

WR Randy Moss - OAK

Moss was injured when he got "sandwiched" by two Chargers early in the game on Sunday. He reportedly bruised his ribs and injured his groin in the collision, and was forced to the sidelines for the majority of the game. His status for the next contest is not currently known although we're worried as groin injuries can linger. Look for more word early this week.

WR Eric Parker - SD

Parker suffered an ankle injury during the first half of the game on Sunday and did not return to action - the severity of the injury isn't currently known.

WR Samie Parker - KC

Parker suffered a sprained left knee during the game on Sunday - the severity of the sprain isn't currently known.

WR Roscoe Parrish - BUF

Parrish ongoing struggle with a wrist injury kept him sidelined on Sunday (questionable on Friday's injury report).

WR Mike Williams - DET

Williams aggravated his sore back during warmups, and was limited to a #3 WR role instead of a starting role. The Lions were already without Roy Williams, Eddie Drummond and the suspended Charles Rogers, so William's limited amount of playing time was another in a series of blows to the teams' passing game.

TE Shad Meier - NO

Meier was once again inactive on Sunday due to his injured knee (questionable on Friday's injury report).

TE Tony Stewart - CIN

Stewart missed the game on Sunday due to his sore back (questionable on Friday's injury report).

Kicker

PK John Hall - WAS

Hall continues to miss games due to his injured quadriceps (doubtful on Friday).

PK Nate Kaeding - SD

Kaeding has been doing great with FGs this season, but his injured hip keeps locking up - he missed one kickoff on Sunday when he had to go to the locker room for treatment on the injury. Be aware that you'll want to roster another solid option at PK if Kaeding is your guy this season.

Offensive Line

OL Chicago Bears - CHI

T John Tait (ankle) and G Ruben Brown (chest) both missed the game on Sunday due to their injuries (questionable on Friday's injury report).

OL Buffalo Bills - BUF

The Bills' Chris Villarial (intenstinal problem, hospitalized last week) and Mike Williams (ankle injury) both played through their complaints on Sunday. Neither was 100%, but both played well.

OL San Diego Chargers - SD

G Toniu Fonoti (hand, out on Friday) and T Shane Olivea (knee, questionable on Friday) both missed the game vs. Oakland this week. C Nick Hardwick sprained his ankle during the second half of the game on Sunday, and G Mike Goff limped off late in the game with an ankle injury as well. Fonoti is so out of favor in San Diego that there are rumors he'll be traded before the deadline. Said LT Roman Oben "I think Coach (Carl) Mauck would have had to be activated to get in there if anybody else had gone down." This unit is paper thin at the moment, folks.

OL Kansas City Chiefs - KC

OL New York Jets - NYJ

C Kevin Mawae suffered an elbow injury during the game on Sunday - he'll be evaluated further on Monday. Mawae is a key member of the Jets' line - hopefully he'll be OK. Right now the injury looks like a problem with the triceps muscle near the elbow.

OL Detroit Lions - DET

C Don Muhlbach (knee) and G David Loverner (biceps) were both out on Friday, while T Jeff Backus was knocked out of the game with a knee injury on Sunday. The running game is really struggling in Detroit right now - the offensive line blames the blocking scheme, but the injuries aren't helping matters any, either.

OL Oakland Raiders - OAK

C Jake Grove missed the game on Sunday due to his gimpy knee (doubtful on Friday's injury report).

OL Houston Texans - HOU

G Zach Wiegert was knocked out of the game on Sunday night with an injured right ankle (either that, or he was so embarrassed by the poor line play that he just couldn't stand to see another yellow flag...just kidding). The entire Houston line was in disarray early in the game Sunday night. Wiegert's injury is feared to be a high ankle sprain, so he could miss a significant amount of time.

I have the guys in my arms and they get out. It's all about me continuing to work. As long as I continue to work and do what I can do, that's all I can ask of myself." When asked how long he'll be able to play with the injury, Foley responded with "The thing about it is once the medication wears off that's when I'll find out if I made it worse."
