Fantasy Points are based on the following system

  • 1 pt every 20 passing yards
  • 1 pt every 10 rushing yards
  • 1 pt every 10 receiving yards
  • 4 pts per passing touchdown
  • 6 pts per rushing/receiving touchdown
  • -1 pt per interception

Arizona Cardinals at Detroit Lions

The Cardinals are 21-32-5 lifetime against the Lions and have lost both games over the last two years

  • The Cardinals are 0-3 on the road this season, having been outscored 113 to 44
  • QB Kurt Warner has only thrown 2 touchdown passes on 149 passing attempts this season (against 5 interceptions)
  • QB Josh McCown has thrown 6 touchdown passes on 186 passing attempts this year (against 8 interceptions)
  • The Cardinals still don't have a rushing touchdown (last season the Cardinals had 15 rushing touchdowns)
  • The Cardinals now haven't scored a rushing touchdown in ten straight games
  • Marcel Shipp and J.J. Arrington have combined for 357 rushing yards on 135 carries this season. Yuck!

  • WR Scott Vines has caught 19 passes over the last three games to become the top receiving threat on the team. Tell me who predicted that in the preseason
  • The Lions have 5 touchdown passes on 266 passing attempts this year

Baltimore Ravens at Jacksonville Jaguars

The Ravens are 6-8 lifetime against the Jaguars but have won the last 6 games

  • The Ravens are 0-4 on the road this season and have been outscored 90 to 52
  • The Ravens have yet to score 20 points in a game this season (last season they hit the mark 10 times)
  • The Ravens have lost four of their last five games
  • RB Jamal Lewis is on pace for 290 carries and 872 yards this season. A far cry from his 387 carries and 2,066 rushing yards of the 2003 season
  • Lewis hasn't scored a rushing touchdown in five straight games
  • WR Derrick Mason is on pace for 98 receptions and 1,104 receiving yards on the year but has scored just once
  • TE Todd Heap leads the team with 2 receiving touchdowns on the year

  • The Jaguars are 3-1 at home this season and also 3-1 over the last four games

Houston Texans at Indianapolis Colts

The Texans have never defeated the Colts (0-7 lifetime) and have been outscored 202 to 92

  • The Texans are averaging only 12 points per game
  • The Texans are 0-4 on the road this season and have yet to score more than 14 points in a road game
  • QB David Carr is on pace for 2,252 passing yards and 14 touchdowns. Not exactly HOF numbers
  • Carr has faced the Colts seven times. In those games he has
    - Never thrown for more than 215 passing yards
    - Tossed 3 touchdowns against 7 interceptions
    - Averaged 119 passing yards per game
    - Never had more than 15.3 FP in a game and have achieved more than 10 FP only once
  • RB Domanick Davis has never rushed for less than 98 yards in five games against the Colts and has scored 8 touchdowns
  • In four games against the Colts, Andre Johnson has never had more than 7.3 FP

  • The Colts have outscored their opposition 229 to 98
  • QB Peyton Manning is now on pace for 3,744 passing yards and 28 touchdowns
  • Manning has multiple touchdowns in four of the last five games
  • RB Edgerrin James is on pace for 18 touchdowns and 1,810 rushing yards

  • RB Larry Johnson is leading the team in rushing yards with 506, is averaging 5.2 YPC and has scored 6 times
  • Johnson has two 100-yard games this season
  • QB Trent Green hasn't tossed more than 2 touchdowns in a game this season
  • Green has 200+ passing yards in all but one game this year
  • TE Tony Gonzalez has caught 19 passes for 234 yards over the last three weeks but still has just a single touchdown
  • WR Eddie Kennison is on pace for his 2nd straight 1,000 yard season. He never had one up until last year

  • The Bills have won two straight home games
  • QB Kelly Holcomb is completing 67.8% of his passes and has 6 touchdowns against 3 interceptions
  • RB Willis McGahee has 790 rushing yards through 8 games
  • McGahee has four 100-yard rushing games this season including three with 130+ yards
  • McGahee hasn't had a multiple-touchdown game this year
  • WR Eric Moulds has three touchdown receptions in the last four games
  • Moulds has 7+ receptions in three of the last four games
  • WR Lee Evans hasn't caught more than 3 passes in a game this year

Minnesota Vikings at New York Giants

The Vikings are 10-9 lifetime against the Giants but have lost to the Giants in each of the last three years

  • The Vikings are 0-4 on the road this season and have been outscored 133 to 34 (now that is truly terrible!)
  • QB Brad Johnson has 3 touchdown passes and 0 interceptions on the year
  • Last week RB Michael Bennett had his first 100-yard rushing game since Dec. 7th of the 2003 season
  • WR Marcus Robinson is leading the way with 349 receiving yards this season

  • The Giants have won four of their last five games and are 4-0 at home
  • QB Eli Manning is on pace for 28 touchdowns and 10 interceptions (almost identical to his older brother)
  • RB Tiki Barber is averaging 5.0 YPC and is on pace for 1,520 rushing yards
  • Barber has two 100-yard games this season
  • WR Plaxico Burress has 5+ receptions in all but one game this year and is on pace to finish with a career-best 90 receptions and 10 touchdowns
  • All he does is score touchdowns… Rookie RB Brandon Jacobs has 5 touchdowns on 26 touches on the year
  • TE Jeremy Shockey is averaging 16.6 YPR and has scored 5 touchdowns

New England Patriots at Miami Dolphins

The Patriots are 33-46 lifetime against the Dolphins but only 1-6 in the last seven games in Miami

  • The Patriots have given up 28 points or more in four of the last five games
  • The Patriots are 2-2 on the road this season
  • The Patriots haven't lost two games in a row since the 2002 season
  • QB Tom Brady is on pace for 4,570 passing yards and 24 touchdowns this season. You certainly can't blame him for the team's struggles
  • RB Corey Dillon has struggled due to injuries but has still scored 7 touchdowns
  • WR Deion Branch has 5+ receptions in six of the eight games this year
  • TE Daniel Graham has scored 3 touchdowns on the season
  • QB Tom Brady has never passed for 300-yards against the Dolphins
  • Brady has tossed 11 touchdown passes against 8 interceptions against the Dolphins and has had three games with more than 20 FP (out of 8 games)
  • In four games against the Dolphins, WR Branch has never had a 100-yard game or a touchdown reception
  • RB Corey Dillon rushed for 215 yards and 2 touchdowns in two games against the Dolphins last season
  • WR David Givens has never had more than 34 receiving yards against the Dolphins but has caught 2 touchdown passes

  • The Dolphins have lost four of the last five games but have been competitive
  • QB Gus Frerotte has tossed only 1 touchdown pass over the last four games
  • RB Ronnie Brown is averaging 4.8 YPC on the year

San Francisco 49ers at Chicago Bears

The 49ers are 30-27-1 lifetime against the Bears. However they have lost the last four in Chicago and haven't won in the Windy City since 1974

  • The 49ers are 0-3 on the road this season and have been outscored 125 to 34. It doesn't get much worse than that
  • Four different quarterbacks have started this season (Rattay, Dorsey, Smith, and Pickett). Only Rattay has thrown a touchdown pass
  • RB Kevan Barlow has rushed for 424 yards on 114 carries this year (3.7 YPC)
  • RB Frank Gore has rushed for 271 yards on only 51 carries this year (5.3 YPC)
  • WR Brandon Lloyd has 212 more receiving yards than his closest teammate. The bad news is he is only on pace for 800 receiving yards

  • The Bears have won four games in a row
  • The Bears are 3-1 at home this season
  • Rookie QB Kyle Orton is on pace for 2,372 passing yards and 14 touchdown passes. He has done an adequate job for the Bears
  • Rookie RB Cedric Benson gained 79 yards on 14 carries last week against the Saints
  • RB Thomas Jones may rest his sore ribs this week against the 49ers
  • WR Muhsin Muhammad is clearly the # 1 receiving threat with the Bears. He is on pace for 942 yards this season

Denver Broncos at Oakland Raiders

The Broncos are 35-54-2 lifetime against the Raiders.
The Broncos have won the past two games in Oakland by a combined score of 53 to 11

  • The Broncos have won six of the last seven games and lost the seventh by one point (to the Giants)
  • QB Jake Plummer has 11 touchdown passes against 0 interceptions over the last six games
  • Plummer has only two games with 200+ passing yards in the last six outings
  • In four games against the Raiders, Plummer has
    - Never thrown for more than 245 yards
    - Thrown 7 touchdowns against 3 interceptions
    - Two games with 28+ FP and only one game with fewer than 12 FP
  • RB Tatum Bell is averaging an amazing 7.0 YPC on the season and has scored 5 times
  • Bell and Mike Anderson have combined for 1,166 rushing yards and 9 touchdowns

  • Collins has only one 300-yard passing game this season
  • WR Randy Moss is only on pace to catch 52 passes for 1,084 yards this season
  • WR Jerry Porter has caught 13 passes and scored 3 touchdowns over the last two weeks
  • In seven games against the Broncos, Porter has
    - One game with 30+ FP (135 receiving yards and 3 touchdowns week 12 of last season)
    - Six games with fewer than 12 FP
  • RB Lamont Jordan is on pace to finish with 18 touchdowns this season. He only had 16 in his first four years in the NFL
  • Jordan is on pace to rush for 1,194 yards and catch 80 passes for 678 yards. He has been the offensive MVP for the Raiders thus far in 2005

New York Jets at Carolina Panthers

The Jets are 2-1 lifetime against the Panthers

  • The Jets have lost three games in a row and five of their last six games
  • The Jets have three quarterbacks with 68+ attempts this season. Brooks Bollinger has the best QB rating of the trio (78.6)
  • RB Curtis Martin is on pace for 1,066 rushing yards this season. That would be his 11th straight 1,000 yard campaign
  • Martin has scored at least one touchdown in four consecutive games (5 in total)
  • Martin has only one 100-yard rushing game this year
  • WR Laveranues Coles has yet to record a 100-yard game this year but does have 5+ receptions in five of the eight games
  • WR Justin McCareins hasn't scored a touchdown in twelve consecutive games

  • The Panthers are red-hot. They have won five consecutive games and have scored 20+ points in every game this year
  • QB Jake Delhomme has tossed 13 touchdown passes against only 5 interceptions over the last six games
  • Delhomme is on pace to throw for 3,786 passing yards this season and 28 touchdowns
  • Delhomme has six straight 200-yard passing games
  • RB Stephen Davis is on pace to score 22 touchdowns this year despite his low 3.1 YPC average
  • The juggernaut known as Steve Smith just keeps rolling along. Check these numbers out…
    - He is on pace to catch 110 passes for 1,806 yards and 18 TDs (the all-time receiving yardage record in one year is 1,848 by Jerry Rice in 1995)
    - He has four straight 100-yard games and six overall
    - He has caught a touchdown pass in four straight games and six games overall
    - He has at least 16 FP in six of the eight games this year

Green Bay Packers at Atlanta Falcons

The Packers are 12-10 lifetime against the Falcons

  • The Packers are 1-7 for the first time since the 1986 season Randy Wright was the quarterback
  • The Packers have only scored 24 points over the last two weeks
  • The Packers are winless on the road this season
  • The good news: QB Brett Favre is on pace for 30 touchdown passes this year
  • The bad news: QB Brett Favre is on pace to toss 28 interceptions this year
  • The Packers have four running backs with at least 27 carries this year. None average more than 3.5 YPC (offensive line woes perhaps)
  • Current starting RB Sam Gado was the 3rd string running back at Liberty. Yes, that's right Liberty!
  • WR Donald Driver has been a bright light and is on pace to catch 82 passes for 1,192 yards and six touchdowns
  • Five different Packer receivers have 2+ touchdown receptions
  • Driver has two 100-yard games this year

  • The Falcons have now won three games in a row
  • Last week against the Dolphins, QB Michael Vick completed 71% of his passes for 228 yards and a touchdown. Was it an aberration or a sign of things to come? Only time will tell
  • Vick is on pace to rush for 680 yards on the year
  • RB Warrick Dunn is on pace to finish with 1,640 rushing yards and has had six straight games with 83+ rushing yards
  • Dunn has only scored 3 times however and caught just 13 passes
  • TE Alge Crumpler is on pace to finish with 880 receiving yards and 4 touchdowns
  • The best wide receiver so far in 2005 is Brian Finneran who is on pace to catch 54 passes for 660 yards

St. Louis Rams at Seattle Seahawks

The Rams are 9-5 lifetime against the Seahawks.
The Rams are 1-2 in Seattle since the Seahawks moved into the NFC West division

  • The Rams have won two straight games without the services of Marc Bulger, Torry Holt and Isaac Bruce
  • The reason why is the play of Steven Jackson who is finally being fed the football. He has 276 rushing yards and 4 touchdowns over the last two weeks
  • In six games against the Seahawks, Bulger has
    - Two 300-yard games and six 200-yard games
    - Five games with 19+ FP
    - 10 TD passes against 7 interceptions
  • In eight games against the Seahawks, WR Torry Holt has
    - Three 100-yard games
    - Three games with 15+ FP and four games with less than 8 FP
    - Three touchdowns
  • In the first game against the Hawks this year, Holt put up 126 receiving yards on 8 receptions and scored a touchdown

  • The Seahawks have won four straight games
  • If the Seahawks win this week, they will be three full games up on the Rams and hold the tiebreaker in hand
  • RB Shaun Alexander is on pace to finish with 1,898 rushing yards and 28 touchdowns this year. Think he is in the hunt for MVP?
  • Alexander has four multiple-touchdown games on the year
  • In seven games against the Rams, Alexander has
    - Four 100-yard rushing games
    - Four games with 19+ FP and only two games with fewer than 8 FP
    - Has scored in four games (a total of six touchdowns)
  • WR Darrell Jackson is still leading the team in receiving yards (376 yards) despite missing four games so far
  • QB Matt Hasselbeck started the season with five straight 200+ yard outings but has hit the mark only once in the past three games
  • In six games against the Rams, Hasselbeck has
    - Two 300-yard passing games
    - Four games with 20+ FP and only one game with fewer than 10 FP
    - 8 touchdown passes against 3 interceptions

Washington Redskins at Tampa Bay Buccaneers

The Redskins are 7-6 lifetime against the Buccaneers

  • The Redskins have their first winning record after 8 games since the 2000 season
  • QB Mark Brunell is on pace to throw 24 touchdowns against only 6 interceptions
  • However, Brunell has failed to throw a touchdown pass in his last two games
  • Brunell has hit the 200-yard mark in six of the last seven games
  • RB Clinton Portis is on pace to rush for 1,240 yards and has a solid 4.2 YPC average
  • However Portis has only rushed for 76 yards over the last two weeks with a YPC of only 3.0
  • Mike Sellers has 5 touchdowns on only 10 touches this season
  • WR Santana Moss is on pace to finish with 98 receptions for 1,712 yards and 10 touchdowns on the year
  • Moss has caught at least 4 passes in each game this season
  • TE Chris Cooley is on pace to finish with 806 receiving yards on the year

  • The Buccaneers have lost three of the last four games
  • QB Chris Simms is completing 60.5% of his throws but has only 2 touchdown passes against 4 interceptions
  • WR Joey Galloway is on pace to finish with 1,462 receiving yards and 12 touchdowns. He has five straight games with 83+ receiving yards
  • Rookie RB Cadillac Williams has rushed for only 62 yards on 35 carries over his last three starts

Cleveland Browns at Pittsburgh Steelers

The Browns are 55-50 lifetime against the Steelers.
The Browns are 1-8 over the last nine games against the Steelers

  • The Browns defense has given up less than 20 points in six consecutive games
  • RB Reuben Droughns has done everything but score. He is on pace to rush for 1,292 yards and catch 42 passes but has zero touchdowns
  • WR Antonio Bryant is the leading receiver with 481 yards so far.
  • Trent Dilfer is on pace to finish with 3,434 passing yards on the season. His career best is only 2,859 yards
  • Dilfer has only thrown 103 touchdowns in his career against 114 interceptions

  • Both Steeler losses came at home this year (to Jacksonville and New England)
  • RB Duce Staley carried the ball 15 times for 76 yards and a touchdown in his first game back
  • On the flip side, Willie Parker had just 5 carries for 13 yards
  • Check out the numbers of QB Ben Roethlisberger compared to the other two quarterbacks (Maddox and Batch)
    - Roethlisberger: 60.8% completion rate, 9.1 YPA, 11 touchdown passes and 2 interceptions
    - Other quarterbacks: 45.4% completion rate, 5.0 YPA, 1 touchdown pass against 4 interceptions
  • WR Hines Ward is averaging 61 receiving yards per game
  • In ten games against the Browns, Ward has
    - Only one 100-yard game
    - Only one touchdown reception
    - No games with 15+ FP and eight games with fewer than 8 FP

Monday

Dallas Cowboys at Philadelphia Eagles

The Cowboys are 52-40 lifetime against the Eagles
The Cowboys have lost six straight games in Philly. The combined score was 202 to 85

  • The Cowboys have won three of the last four games
  • RB Julius Jones is supposedly healthy and ready to go
  • Jones is averaging 3.6 yards per carry
  • Jones rushed for 72 yards on 16 carries earlier this season against the Eagles
  • Jones hasn't had a 100-yard game this season
  • Bledsoe threw for 289 yards and 3 touchdowns against the Eagles earlier this year in a Cowboy romp
  • Bledsoe only has one touchdown pass in each of the last three games but has at least one in every game this season
  • Bledsoe has never had a passer rating higher than 87.7. This year he is sitting at 97.4
  • WR Terry Glenn caught 7 passes for 118 yards and 2 touchdowns against the Eagles earlier this season
  • Glenn hasn't scored a touchdown in three straight games
  • WR Keyshawn Johnson has scored in two straight games

  • The Eagles have lost three of the last four games and only scored 61 points in those four games while giving up 116
  • QB Donovan McNabb is on pace to throw for 4,676 yards this year to go along with 32 touchdown passes
  • WR Terrell Owens is suspended for four games and has been told he isn't welcome to rejoin the team after the suspension is over
  • McNabb has only 5 touchdown passes against 5 interceptions in his last three games
  • McNabb threw for only 131 yards against the Cowboys earlier this season
  • In ten games against the Cowboys, McNabb has
    - Two games with 40+ FP, five games with 20+ FP and only one game with fewer than 10 FP (the game this year)
    - 18 passing touchdowns and 2 rushing touchdowns (none in the game this year)
  • RB Brian Westbrook is only averaging 3.5 yards per carry and has but a single rushing touchdown
  • However, Westbrook has 478 receiving yards and 4 receiving touchdowns
  • Westbrook only had 36 total yards against the Cowboys earlier this year. Expect that number to at least triple this week
  • Westbrook has three total touchdowns against the Cowboys in seven games
  • Westbrook has never had more than 17.8 FP in a game against the Cowboys
