Atlanta Falcons at Detroit Lions

The Falcons are 8-22 lifetime against the Lions

  • The Falcons are 3-1 on the road this season

Cleveland Browns at Minnesota Vikings

The Browns are 3-8 lifetime against the Vikings

  • The Browns have scored at least 20 points in three consecutive games for the first time this season
  • Last week, the Browns had their first shutout since the 2001 season (against the Bengals)
  • QB Trent Dilfer wasn't pleased with being replaced with Charlie Frye last week. He said ""I've never been part of it. It, uh ... I'm not gonna comment a lot on it, but it makes my job a lot harder and ... I disagree with it."
  • RB Reuben Droughns need 127 more rushing yards to finish with 1,000 yards this year. That would be the first time since 1985, a Brown running back rushed for 1,000 yards. Interestingly, both Kevin Mack and Earnest Byner accomplished the feat that season.
  • Droughns has scored a touchdown in two straight weeks after scoring none over the first eight games
  • Droughns has rushed for 537 yards over the last five games
  • WR Antonio Bryant has four straight games with at least 60 receiving yards. He hasn't had a 100-yard effort since last year

  • QB Brad Johnson only has 1 interception on 112 passing attempt this year. Daunte Culpepper threw 12 on 216 attempts before his injury

  • QB Tom Brady is on pace to throw for 4,452 yards this year
  • Brady has no fewer than 199 passing yards in a game this season

  • The Chargers have scored 300 points this year, the 2nd best mark in the NFL
  • QB Drew Brees has averaged 308 passing yards over the last four starts and is on pace to finish with 3,902 passing yards and 29 touchdown passes
  • RB LaDainian Tomlinson only has one 100-yard rushing game over the last four weeks
  • Tomlinson however has scored 5 times over the past two weeks
  • WR Keenan McCardell has had 73+ yards receiving in three of the last four weeks but no 100-yard games since week one
  • TE Antonio Gates has caught 31 passes over the last four weeks (for 426 yards and 5 touchdowns)
  • Gates has three 100-yard games and seven 70+ yard games this year

San Francisco 49ers at Tennessee Titans

The 49ers are 7-3 lifetime against the Titans organization

  • The 49ers are only 1-8 over the last nine games
  • The 49ers are the 4th worst scoring offense and the 3rd worst scoring defense
  • Last week, the 49ers had their first passing touchdown since week three
  • QB Ken Dorsey leads the team with a 79.1 passer rating. Cody Pickett has a 28.3 rating while rookie Alex Smith brings up the rear with a miserable 17.5 rating
  • Dorsey threw for 249 yards and a touchdown last week
  • In his first action of the year, RB Maurice Hicks rushed for 83 yards on only 11 carries last week and scored a touchdown
  • RB Kevan Barlow has only rushed for 83 yards over the last three weeks on 46 carries. He hasn't scored in four straight games

  • QB Steve McNair has had seven straight 200-yard passing games and is on pace to finish with 3,637 passing yards on the season. That would set a personal best in passing yardage for one year (3,387 back in 2002)
  • RB Chris Brown has scored in four of the last five games (6 TD total) but still doesn't have a 100-yard effort
  • The leading receiver on the team is TE Erron Kinney with 49 receptions and 495 receiving yards.
  • WR Drew Bennett returned from injury last week to catch 6 passes for 55 yards

St. Louis Rams at Houston Texans

These two teams have never played

  • The Rams have only won two of the past seven games and are 1-4 on the road
  • The Rams have given up 31+ points in five of the last seven games
  • The Rams have the worst scoring defense in the NFL (30 points per game) and the 7th best scoring offense
  • QB Jamie Martin has completed 68.9% of his passes on the year and will start in place of Marc Bulger this week and perhaps even the rest of the season
  • RB Steven Jackson has only rushed for 76 yards on 29 carries over the last two weeks. He may double that total this week against the hapless Texans defense
  • Jackson hasn't scored in the last two games but did score in five straight prior to that
  • WR Torry Holt is averaging 100.5 yards per game on the season and has had four 100-yard games
  • WR Curtis has averaged 77 receiving yards and has scored 6 touchdowns over the last eight games

  • The Texans have seven double-digit losses this year
  • The Texans have the 3rd worst scoring offense and the 2nd worst scoring defense
  • Opponents have averaged 160.6 rushing yards per game against the Texans
  • QB David Carr has only one game with 200+ passing yards this season and no multiple-touchdown games
  • RB Domanick Davis has scored a touchdown in three of his last four games played
  • Davis has scored 4 of the team's 13 offensive touchdowns this season
  • WR Andre Johnson has caught 19 passes in the three games since returning from injury but still doesn't have a touchdown

Jacksonville Jaguars at Arizona Cardinals

The Jaguars won the only meeting between these teams

  • The Jaguars have scored 21+ points in six straight games

  • QB Byron Leftwich has four straight 200-yard passing games and is on pace to finish with 3,368 yards and 24 touchdowns
  • Leftwich has failed to throw a touchdown pass in just one game this season (back in week two against the Colts)
  • RB Fred Taylor only has 18 carries for 40 yards over the past three weeks
  • RB Greg Jones only gained 33 yards on 16 carries last week against the Titans
  • WR Ernest Wilford has scored a touchdown in three of the last four games and in five of the last eight
  • WR Reggie Williams has caught only one pass since week six and has become the forgotten man on offense with the emergence of Wilford
  • WR Matt Jones has scored in four of the last five games

  • The Cardinals have the 4th worst scoring defense. Last year they had the 12th best
  • The Cardinals have scored 59 points over the last two weeks but given up 124 points over the last four weeks
  • QB Kurt Warner has five touchdown passes over the last three weeks
  • RB J.J. Arrington has scored a touchdown in back-to-back weeks
  • Arrington has rushed for 109 yards on 24 carries over the past three weeks. It's not much but at least it is better than 76 yards on 33 carries which is what he put up in the first seven games this year
  • WR Anquan Boldin returned from injury last week to catch 8 passes for 105 yards. It was his fourth 100-yard game in his eight starts
  • Boldin is averaging 90 yards receiving per game
  • After ten games, WR Larry Fitzgerald already has 70 receptions for 958 yards, both of which are career bests
  • Fitzgerald has had three straight 100-yard games and has six on the season
  • Neither Fitzgerald or Boldin has a multiple-touchdown game this year

Miami Dolphins at Oakland Raiders

The Dolphins are 11-17-1 lifetime against the Raiders

  • The Dolphins are only averaging 16.2 points per game this year and have only scored 26 points over the past three games
  • The Dolphins have lost six of the last seven games
  • The Dolphins are 1-4 on the road this year
  • Sage Rosenfels is not the answer at quarterback. He only threw for 14 yards on 5-10 passing last week against the Browns
  • Gus Frerotte tried to play with his injured finger last week but managed only 4 completions on 18 attempts
  • RB Ronnie Brown has 14 or fewer carries in five of the last six games and hasn't scored in four straight games
  • WR Chris Chambers has scored in three of the last five games but has no 100-yard games this year

  • QB Brett Favre has thrown 18 touchdown passes on the year but also has been picked off 17 times
