Houston Texans at Cincinnati Bengals

  • The Texans are only averaging 7 points per game so far in 2005

  • RB Domanick Davis needs to touch the ball more. He has only 29 carries in two games

St. Louis Rams at New York Giants

  • WR Isaac Bruce is only on pace to finish with 48 receptions. That would be his lowest output since the 1999 campaign when he played in only five games
  • Bruce is only 111 yards away from reaching the 12,000 yard mark and 14 receptions away from reaching 800 in his career
  • Bruce needs 15 more receiving yards to pass Michael Irvin and move into the 11th slot all-time and 257 yards to pass Charlie Joiner and move into the top ten

  • TE Jeremy Shockey is on pace to finish with his first 1,000 yard receiving season (1,034 yards)
  • In three games against the Rams, Barber has rushed for 287 yards, caught 12 passes and scored a touchdown
  • Burress has been targeted 32 times this season while Toomer and Shockey are well behind with 15 and 17 respectively
  • Barber has 11 redzone touches while rookie Brandon Jacobs has 5

New York Jets at Baltimore Ravens

The Jets are 1-3 lifetime against the Ravens

  • The Jets have lost three straight regular season road games dating back to last season
  • The Jets are averaging less than 15 points per game
  • QB Chad Pennington is off to his worst start as a pro. He is completing only 59.0% of his throws and has 3 interceptions against 2 touchdown passes
  • Pennington has a torn rotator cuff and is out for the year
  • QB Brooks Bollinger will get his first professional start this week against an angry Ravens team. Good luck Jets.
  • QB Vinny Testaverde has been signed by the Jets. He threw for 11,720 yards (195 yards per game) during his first stint with the team (from '98 to 2003)
  • RB Curtis Martin is beginning to look his age. He is averaging only 2.8 yards per carry and hasn't scored this season
  • Martin hasn't scored a touchdown in five straight games

Dallas Cowboys at Oakland Raiders

The Cowboys are 3-5 lifetime against the Raiders

  • The Cowboys are 2-0 on the road this season
  • The revival of QB Drew Bledsoe. He is on pace to throw for 4,533 yards this season and toss 32 touchdowns which would be his best NFL season
  • RB Julius Jones is on pace to carry the ball 395 times this season and has scored three times. He is only averaging 3.5 yards per carry though
  • What a great start for Terry Glenn. He is on pace to catch 75 receptions for 1,792 yards on the season
  • WR Keyshawn Johnson has already caught 3 touchdowns this season. He has only had one double-digit touchdown season in his ten year career
  • QB Drew Bledsoe didn't score a rushing touchdown in his first seven NFL seasons. He has seven rushing touchdowns in the last six years
  • Bledsoe is currently 8th all-time in career passing yards, 18th in passing touchdowns and 7th in completions
  • Terry Glenn, Keyshawn Johnson and Jason Witten have all been targeted 15+ times this season

Minnesota Vikings at Atlanta Falcons

The Vikings are 15-7 lifetime against the Falcons

  • Is the Michael Bennett era over? He had only two carries last week while RB Mewelde Moore had 23 carries for 101 yards
  • QB Daunte Culpepper turned it around last week with a 300-yard / 3 touchdown performance against the Saints after an atrocious start to his season (0 touchdowns / 8 interceptions)
  • During his first five seasons as a starter, Culpepper averaged 463 rushing yards and 6 rushing touchdowns. This year he only has 65 rushing yards to date
  • Vikings running backs haven't score a rushing touchdown this season
  • The Vikings best receiver thus far in 2005 is Travis Taylor who is on pace to catch 69 receptions for 818 yards on the season. Not exactly R. Moss-like
  • WR Nate Burleson will miss the game against the Falcons due to injury

  • The Falcons have won six straight home games

  • The 49ers are only 1-8 in the past nine road games but the win was against the Cardinals
  • The 49ers have won three straight against the Cardinals
    • The good, the bad and the ugly for QB Tim Rattay:
    • The ugly: Rattay threw for 107 yards with 0 touchdowns and 3 interceptions in week two against the Eagles
    • The bad: The 49ers are 1-2 on the season under the leadership of Rattay
    • The good: In the two games aside from the Eagles debacle, Rattay has thrown 5 touchdowns against 2 interceptions
  • A changing of the guard in San Francisco? It is happening slowly but compare the numbers for both Kevan Barlow and rookie Frank Gore
    • Kevan Barlow has rushed for 121 yards with a 3.4 YPC average and scored once
    • Frank Gore has rushed for 74 yards with a 4.9 YPC average
  • Both receivers Arnaz Battle and Brandon Lloyd are off to great starts.
    • Battle is on pace to catch 80 passes for 912 yards and 11 touchdowns
    • Lloyd is on pace to catch 53 passes for 1,194 yards and 16 touchdowns
