Fantasy Football Players Championship

Description of Contest

The Fantasy Football Players Championship is a High Stakes event launched by three veteran fantasy football players. Players starting a contest, you might ask? After all, we play high-stakes fantasy football contests, we don't build them. We're players. Players...hmm… What if this new contest, developed by fantasy football players, was tailor-made for fantasy football players? And it is this very concept which became the theme for our project: build a contest for Players, by Players. Here are the details:

The Fantasy Football Players Championship is unique in many ways, one of which is its Hybrid format, allowing a choice to either draft Live or Online, yet compete in the same main event. The Live draft will be held at the legendary Caesars Palace's Tiberius Ballroom, on the Las Vegas Strip on Friday, September 5th, 2008 at 6:00 PM Pacific. Online entrants can draft from home and pay the base entry fee of $1375 per team. The FFPC main event is being announced at 168 teams (14 Leagues) and offers a $75,000 Grand Prize while each league will also compete for $7,500 in individual league prizes. The entire prize pool is guaranteed. As entries increase, so will the prizes, but the inaugural year entries are limited to 300 teams and registration will close at that mark. The FFPC has eliminated the co-manager fee for 2008 and there is no hotel stay requirement. The event offers player-friendly rules, including the FFPC Dual-Flex, extended waiver wire period, automatic Elias stat corrections and much more. The playoff structure has been reinvented and extended, to involve 4 teams per league and give them a shot at the prizes. The FFPC is proudly introducing the Free-peat™ Bonuses - a system which awards team achievement with free entries. In an unprecedented move, the $75,000 Grand Prize has been secured in an Attorney Escrow account by the organizers, prior to taking a single sign-up. All prize money will continue to be placed into this account and remain there until January 10, 2009, our guaranteed prize release date. And last but certainly not least, FFPC payout percentages will be among the highest in the high stakes industry. That's our promise to all the Players.

Are the Prizes Guaranteed? Escrowed / secured? What steps do you take to secure the prize funds so that they are truly guaranteed?

Yes, all prizes are guaranteed and they are as secure as they can possibly be. The organizers of FFPC have placed $75,000 - the amount of the grand prize - in the attorney escrow account of Mark W. Yaros, Esq., a licensed attorney in the state of New Jersey. We set up this $75,000 attorney trust account with our own money, prior to accepting a single entry into the FFPC, just to show our customers how serious we are about protecting their money. Funds will continue to be placed into this attorney escrow account as they are received and all prizes for the Fantasy Football Players Championship will be secured prior to the draft on September 5th, 2008. This escrow account will not be accessed for any use other than payouts. Prize-winning checks will be drawn directly from this account at the end of the season and sent to the winners by January 10th, 2009.

What happens if all of the spots do not sell? Will the prize pool be altered?

The current prize structure is guaranteed and will not be altered downward for any reason, even if the event does not reach 168 entrants. If the FFPC reaches above 192 entries, additional monies will begin to be added to the prize pool to maintain a minimum of 80% payouts.

When will prizes be paid out to the winners?

The FFPC wants you to get your prizes as soon as possible which is why we pledge to process your prizes and have your checks in the mail by January 10th, 2009, assuming all needed player information has been provided.

Are there Satellite Leagues, and how do they work?

Yes, we have Online Satellite Leagues in various formats:

  • $150, $250, $500 & $1000 entry levels with 83-87% payout percentages which are available in four draft formats:

    • Classic Draft: This is the classic 20 round serpentine draft with total points regular season and head-to-head playoffs.

    • Draft Expert: The Draft Experts format is a 26 round serpentine draft that automatically starts the optimum lineup each week. The highest scoring team over the course of the season wins. Many drafters like this format as there is no in-season management. It allows for great practice and competition prior to the higher stakes "main events".

    • Draft Expert Plus: A modified version of Draft Experts, the Draft Experts Plus format is a 22 round serpentine draft that automatically starts the optimum lineup each week. The "Plus" stands for the ability to make free agent moves during the course of the season by way of blind bidding. This format combines the benefit of the optimum lineup with in-season roster management.

    • Auction: The FFPC has recently announced $250 and $500 online Auction leagues. These will have 12 teams that select 20 players per team, totaling 240 players. The FFPC Auction leagues offer total point scoring over the regular season with head-to-head playoffs.

Associated events with Live Draft

The live draft in Caesars Palace will include the FFPC Players Lounge which will be just that - a place to for you to sit down, relax, have a drink…..and we will have it equipped with flat screen televisions, X-box systems and brand new, August-released Madden NFL 2009 video games! The Players Lounge will be in or next to the Tiberius Ballroom at the Caesars Palace and will be open all day on Friday, September 5th. It's just something to add a little fun while you're registering for the FFPC, playing in the afternoon Ancillary Leagues or just passing by.

There are also a number of other events and get-togethers in Las Vegas currently being planned by the FFPC participants, including a club night, a Monday Night Football party and more. For more information, please visit our message boards.

How long is the regular season?

Regular season is weeks 1 through 11. League Playoffs are weeks 12 and 13.

How many teams are in each league?

12

What kind of draft format is it? Serpentine, Auction, 3RR, KDS?

Standard Serpentine

What is the starting lineup and roster size for each team?

  • 20 player roster
  • Starting lineup is 1 QB, 2 RB, 2 WR, 2 Flex (RB/WR/TE), 1 TE, 1 K, 1 D

Describe your scoring rules

  • 4 pts for passing TDs, 6 pts for all other TDs
  • 1 pt for every 20 yards passing
  • 1 point for every 10 yards rushing or receiving
  • 1 pt per reception for RBs and WRs
  • 1.5 pt per reception for TEs
  • 3 points for every FG of 1 - 30 yards plus .1 point for every yard thereafter
  • 1 pt for D/ST sack, 2 pts for all turnovers
  • 6 pts for all D/ST touchdowns
  • 5 pts for every safety
  • 12 points for every shutout
  • 8 points for allowing between 1- 6 points
  • 5 points for allowing between 7 - 10 points

What is your policy regarding trading?

Trading is not allowed.

Describe the weekly waivers process

The Free Agent process is via blind bidding. Each team will be given $1000 blind bidding "dollars". The FFPC has extended the free agent time period (for playoff teams) beyond the 11-week regular season into weeks 12 and 13. All teams NOT qualifying into the League Playoff will have their rosters locked at the end of Week 11 and will no longer have the ability to make free agent moves. There are no free agent moves for any teams in Weeks 14-16.

How do you handle "abandoned" teams?

The FFPC league host, MyFantasyLeague.com, will automatically maintain the previous week's starting lineup for abandoned teams but beyond that, we cannot manage abandoned teams and are not able to start and bench players for those teams. The FFPC will attempt to keep a record of owners who abandoned their teams and these participants may not be invited back to the FFPC event for 2009 and beyond. The FFPC will intervene in team management of any team whose participant is willingly trying to field a less competitive team or is manipulating the contest.

Are weekly regular season matchups head to head?

Yes.

What steps do you take to prevent collusion between franchises?

The FFPC does not allow trades. We randomize league selection as well as the drawing of draft slots.
MyFantasyLeague.com's league management software is set up to automatically use the previous week's starting lineup if a new starting lineup is not selected. We reserve the right to alter or make changes to any released free agent players, if we feel there is a possibility of collusion or if it is needed to preserve the competitive nature of the event. We also reserve the right to disqualify any team that has acted in a collusionary manner.

What happens if a drafter fails to show up on Draft Day?

In case of the Online draft, in the event that the participant (or co-manager) does not sign into the online draft, the FFPC will attempt to assign a surrogate drafter or the team may be placed on auto-pick for as long as the participant remains absent from the draft.

In case of the Live draft, in the event that the participant (or CO-manager) does not sign in to the online draft, the FFPC will provide a surrogate drafter for as long as the participant remains absent from the draft.

What is the Championship Round structure?

At the end of the regular season, FOUR top seeded teams from each league will compete in the 2-week, Head-to-Head League Playoff in Weeks 12 & 13. Seeds 1 and 2 from each league each win a $1,000 Regular Season prize and automatically qualify for the Championship Round, regardless of how they perform in the League Playoff. The winners of the Week 12 match-ups will play each other in Week 13 for the League Championship. The losers will play for 3rd place in Week 13. The League Champion will get a berth in the Championship Round, if they have not already secured an automatic berth after the regular season. In other words, if Seed 3 or Seed 4 wins the League Championship, that team will also play in the Championship Round along with Seeds 1 & 2. This is the only format in the High-Stakes industry which gives the 3rd or 4th seeded team an opportunity to earn the right to advance to the Championship Round. A minimum of 2 and a maximum of 3 teams per league will qualify for the Championship Round.

How many teams will be in the Championship Round?

It depends on the amount of leagues in the FFPC. A minimum of 2 and a maximum of 3 teams from each league will qualify for the Championship Round.

Is there a Consolation Bracket?

Yes, any League Playoff team which did not qualify into the Championship Round will enter the Consolation Round. The 8 teams from each league which did not qualify for the League Playoffs will enter the Toilet Bowl in Weeks 12-16.

Final Thoughts. Why should someone play this contest?

Whether you are considering playing in your first high stakes event or your fiftieth, the Fantasy Football Players Championship offer players an exciting opportunity to compete and enjoy the high stakes experience. Our format is fresh and new, yet comfortable and familiar. This event is truly built By Players, For Players. We invite you to visit our lively and engaged message board and feel the excitement high stakes players have about the FFPC. Players have commented that they like the safety that our attorney trust provides. Since the FFPC is a smaller sized event, the chances of winning are better and the payback percentages are higher than with larger events. One can draft from the comfort of their home using our Online Draft option or, for those heading to Las Vegas, the Live Draft will take place at the legendary Caesars Palace. The live events fee is a reasonable $125 per team, with food, drink and draft room provided, with no mandatory room stay or CO-manager fees. Lastly, we really think fantasy players will love our unique format, including four teams making the playoffs. Here is a comment from our message board by one of our satellite draft participants: I like the TE twist you guys added. It really shakes things up and makes for an exciting and unpredictable draft. The satellite draft was a lot of fun. Even though it is just a small tweak, it is enough to change up the dynamics and make drafting fun again. No more just analyzing ADPs and drafting like robots. I like the league.
