World Championship of Fantasy Football
Description of Contest:
For the third year in a row, the WCOFF will feature over 550 teams competing for a grand prize of over $200,000 and the WCOFF Crystal Trophy - presented each year by ESPN's Suzy Kolber to the WCOFF Champs. As always, the WCOFF events kick off in Las Vegas on the NFL's opening weekend, and conclude with the crowning of the WCOFF Champ at the site of the Super Bowl. This year's events begin on September 10th at the Hilton Hotel as up to 120 teams will compete for titles in the Auction and Draft Masters Divisions. This also marks the first year of the WCOFF Hall of Fame Invite, a free league in which invitees compete for a winner-take-all $5,000 grand prize. On Saturday, there is the granddaddy of all fantasy football events as more than 1,100 fantasy football fanatics - some who have traveled from Europe - partake in the WCOFF draft inside the 70,000 square foot Hilton Center. Last year's Draft was featured by HBO Real Sports, and the 2002 WCOFF Draft was covered in the New York Times, Washington Post and other major print media. At the conclusion of Saturday's Draft, the WCOFF holds its annual "Kickoff Party" (open bar and buffet) at the Las Vegas ESPN Zone, where nearly 1,000 WCOFF participants will gather to drink, watch sports, play games - and, of course, talk smack. Somewhere in that crowd will be the next $200,000 grand prize winner as the WCOFF continues to have the biggest single prize payout in fantasy sports history.

Why is your contest/game unique?:
Frankly, since the WCOFF started 3 seasons ago, many of the ideas and concepts of the WCOFF have been imitated (or simply lifted verbatim from the WCOFF rules) by other competitors. So though some aspects of the WCOFF may no longer be unique, what makes the WCOFF stand apart is that it was first and it does it best! Other contests still have to prove they can even fill an event or guarantee prize money.
Final thoughts?:
Three years ago, the co-founders of the WCOFF (Emil Kadlec of Fantasy Sports Publications and Lenny Pappano of draftsharks.com) wanted to create the ultimate fantasy football experience for the hard core fantasy football fanatic - and so they invested their own money to launch the World Championship of Fantasy Football. Today the WCOFF is the only high-stakes fantasy football contest in existence to have actually taken place and paid all of its stated prize money (over $1 million dollars). Those two points make the WCOFF unique - truly unique - in the fantasy football marketplace.
