Says Schefter, "The 10 players that have blown out Achilles since start of camp: NYG CB Bruce Johnson, 49ers 7th CB Curtis Holcomb, Tenn CB Ryan Mouton, Bengals LB Roddrick Muckelroy, Lions RB Mikel Leshoure, Titans WR O.J. Murdock, Browns P Reggie Hodges, Eagles DE Victor Abiamitri, Saints LB Jermina Hunter and Raiders WR Derrick Jones round out the list of 10 players that have suffered a torn Achilles since camp opened."

Be safe out there, Guys.

Now let's get to it.

DET - Mikel Leshoure out for the season

Source: CBSSports.com

Updating a previous item, Detroit Lions RB Mikel Leshoure (Achilles') has a torn Achilles' tendon. He will miss the 2011 season. Leshoure will have surgery to repair the tear in the near future.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Wow. Bad news for the Lions here. LeShoure was set to be an important piece to the offense playing alongside Jahvid Best. We'll see if the Lions try to make a move to add another RB in the near future.

It's a shame as Leshoure had been very impressive in camp. "I've never seen a back who was 235 who had the agility he had. I never saw a back his size who could catch the way he could catch. He's the total package, I tip my hat to him, he's the total package," veteran running back Maurice Morris said.

PHI - WR DeSean Jackson arrives at camp

Source: CBSSports.com

Philadelphia Eagles WR DeSean Jackson is at training camp and getting a physical Monday, Aug. 8.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Eagles have put together a 'dream team' but they need Jackson on the field if they want the offense to fire on all cylinders.

CHI - WR Devin Hester will be huge part of offense

Source: Chicago Sun-Times - Sean Jensen

Chicago Bears WR Devin Hester, who has been named the starting flanker, will be in for a larger role on offense this season. The team's coaching staff evaluated game film from last season and recognized Hester was not used enough. 'He'll be a huge part of the offense,' head coach Lovie Smith said. Offensive coordinator Mike Martz said Hester played even better than Martz thought he did. 'We had trouble getting him the ball, but I don't foresee that being an issue this year,' Martz added. So far in training camp, Hester has been standing out and a favorite target of QB Jay Cutler. Cutler said Hester isn't thinking while on the field now, showing Hester is growing comfort in his second season in Martz's system. Hester said he spent 70 percent of his pre-snap thoughts on his assignment each play, with the other 30 percent going toward reading the defense. This year, he said he is spending 100 percent of the time reading defenses. The team does not plan to take him out of his roles on special teams, but Martz said the team is going to find a balance so they are sure Hester remains fresh this season.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We'll believe it when we see it. Hester was also supposed to be the #1 wide receiver last year. With Hester and Roy Williams as his main competition and last year's leading receiver Johnny Knox in the doghouse, Earl Bennett is looking like a nice play this year.

HOU - Hopeful RB Arian Foster will return Tuesday

Source: CBSSports.com

The Houston Texans are hopeful RB Arian Foster (hamstring) will return to practice Tuesday, Aug. 9.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Foster led the league in rushing last year but did it on an injured knee. As we reported, he was very confident the hamstring issue wasn't a big deal. Although anytime you have a player that looks to be as highly drafted as Foster, it's a big deal. The Texans were off Monday and we'll see what Foster is able to do Tuesday and later this week.

CIN - Andy Dalton tops depth chart

Source: The Cincinnati Enquirer - Joe Reedy

Cincinnati Bengals QB Andy Dalton is listed as the starting quarterback on the depth chart for the first preseason game.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Dalton is the QB of the future and will get every opportunity to win the starting job in camp.

NO - Mark Ingram impressing

Source: New Orleans Times-Picayune - Mike Triplett

New Orleans Saints rookie RB Mark Ingram has turned heads during training camp, showing power, shiftiness and breakaway ability.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Ignore Ingram in your draft at your own risk. He has as much upside as any RB outside of the top 10. Don't believe the idea that the Saints will never have a feature back.

DEN - WR Brandon Lloyd impressing in training camp

Source: Sporting News - Lee Rasizer

Denver Broncos WR Brandon Lloyd has been showing tremendous ability to separate himself from cornerbacks during training camp, including Champ Bailey, the team's top corner. Lloyd exploded last season for Denver; if his training camp play is any indication, it does not appear he will be in for a steep drop-off in production this season. He continues to show contortionist-type moves while going after the football. The Broncos may look for him to play the WR Steve Smith role in John Fox's Carolina Panthers' offense.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

People have tried too hard to come up with reasons that Lloyd's 2010 was a fluke. Consider yourself lucky if you can land him as a #2 wide receiver in the 4th or 5th round.

CHI - WR Johnny Knox needs to improve

Source: Chicago Sun-Times - Sean Jensen

Continuing previous reports, Chicago Bears WR Johnny Knox will compete with WR Roy Williams for the starting job at split end. Wide receivers coach Darryl Drake said Knox has 'to improve' this year, but did not provide any specific details on what Knox needs to work on. Knox led the league in most interceptions on passes intended to a wide receiver (11).

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We'll provide details. Knox wasn't always in the right place at the right time and he didn't compete well for balls in the air. He was fine when he was wide open, and his speed and quicks can get him open, but when it came down to being physical, Knox was overwhelmed by more aggressive corners.

DEN - Tim Tebow No. 2 QB on first depth chart

Source: The Denver Post

Denver Broncos QB Tim Tebow is listed as the primary backup quarterback on the depth chart for the first preseason game. Tebow has been competing for QB Brad Quinn for the No. 2 quarterback job

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

A little surprising here as Brady Quinn has clearly outplayed Tebow in practice so far. Tebow is unlikely to win the starting job over Kyle Orton. However, the team may still use him as a subpackage QB.

PIT - WR Hines Ward off PUP list

Source: Pittsburgh Tribune-Review - Scott Brown

Pittsburgh Steelers WR Hines Ward (thumb) was activated from the Physically Unable to Perform list and was scheduled to practice Monday, Aug. 8.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Steelers sorely need Ward's contributions as they are missing #3 Emmanuel Sanders and have no clear-cut #5 wide receiver right now.

BAL - RB Ricky Williams agrees to terms

Source: South Florida Sun-Sentinel - Omar Kelly

The Baltimore Ravens have agreed to terms with free-agent RB Ricky Williams (Dolphins). Terms of the contract were not disclosed.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Williams will compete with Jalen Parmele for the primary backup job behind Ray Rice. He's not the player he once was, but gives the team quality veteran depth. Williams can also be a reliable receiver out of the backfield.

CLE - RB Montario Hardesty remains sidelined

Source: CBSSports.com

Cleveland Browns RB Montario Hardesty (unknown) remains sidelined from practice. The team insists Hardesty is not hurt.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Hardesty could play a big role for the Browns this year but he needs to get on the field and impress the new coaching staff if he wants to do that.

WAS - TE Chris Cooley returns to practice

Source: CBSSports.com

Washington Redskins TE Chris Cooley (knee) returned to practice Monday, Aug. 8. Cooley missed three days after having fluid drained from his left knee.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Cooley is a seasoned veteran so expect the team to take it easy on him in practice as he comes back from his knee procedure.

NO - WR Marques Colston having knee issues

Source: WWL.com - Krisitan Garic

New Orleans Saints WR Marques Colston (knee) missed three consecutive days of practice with a sore right knee. He may return to action Tuesday, Aug. 9.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Colston had microfracture surgery in the offseason, although he had a 1000 yard season the last time he had microfracture surgery in the offseason (to his left knee). Lance Moore, Robert Meachem, and Jimmy Graham all become better fantasy plays the worse it looks like it'll be for Colston's knee this year.

TEN - QB Matt Hasselbeck adjusting to new team

Source: The Tennessean - John Glennon

Tennessee Titans QB Matt Hasselbeck said he wouldn't be surprised to play a little more during the team's first preseason game because he did not spend the offseason with the team. He noted the offense is starting to become more comfortable for him, and said the team's offensive line has been very helpful during some early errors with his cadence.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We're most interested in how he riffs with Kenny Britt and Jared Cook. Hasselbeck has the ability to make both fantasy stars this year if he is on the same page with them and they play consistent football.

DAL - RB Tashard Choice could be trade candidate

Source: ESPNDallas.com - Tim MacMahon

The Dallas Cowboys may look to trade RB Tashard Choice during the preseason if he loses the No. 3 running back job to RB Lonyae Miller.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

It's hard to completely write Choice off even though the Cowboys appear to be ready to move on. He would be an intriguing back to watch if he ends up somewhere like Cincinnati or Washington.

BAL - RB Ricky Williams contract update

Source: The Baltimore Sun - Jamison Hensley

Updating a previous report, the Baltimore Ravens signed RB Ricky Williams to a two-year deal worth as much as $4 million.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Jalen Parmele loses his inside track to the backup job. More importantly, you have to wonder if the Ravens will give the rugged Williams the goal-line carries vacated by new Denver Bronco Willis McGahee.

OAK - Looking for big things out of RB Darren McFadden

Source: Sacramento Bee - Eric Gilmore

Oakland Raiders RB Darren McFadden (face), who is sidelined with an orbital bone fracture, said last year's production was just a taste of what is to come in the future. 'Last year was the real Darren McFadden,' McFadden said. 'The Raider Nation can look forward to a lot more of that.' Head coach Hue Jackson is counting on McFadden to be the focus of the team's offensive attack again this season. 'Darren McFadden is to me one of the most complete and elite runners in this league. Obviously, he had a very good season last year. He's going to build on that, and I see a young man who is ahead of the curve of where he was last year, seeing his reads, sticking the ball in the right spots, accelerating, knowing when to decelerate,' Jackson said.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

McFadden lost of one of his best run blockers in Robert Gallery and the coach who brought that line together in Tom Cable. He is still a great risk/reward second-rounder, but the drop in his circumstances and his spotty injury history make him hard to trust in the first round.

NYJ - WR Derrick Mason working with first team

Source: CBSSports.com

New York Jets WR Derrick Mason is working with the first-team offense in the morning practice session Monday, Aug. 8.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Mason isn't the same player he used to be, but he's not washed up either. His signing was a good move by the Jets and he'll quickly become a trusted target of young QB Mark Sanchez.

NE - DE Albert Haynesworth does not practice

Source: Boston Herald - Ian Rapoport

New England Patriots DT Albert Haynesworth (undisclosed) sat out practice Monday, Aug. 8, for the third straight day. It is not known why Haynesworth has not been able to practice.

I mainly just included this one for you Redskins fans...
