TEN - Holdout for RB Johnson looming?

Source: Jim Wyatt - The Tennessean

Jim Wyatt, from the Tennessean, reports Titans RB Chris Johnson is unlikely to show up to training camp without a new contract.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Johnson is still being politically correct when asked about the situation, but last year's slight bump in pay isn't enough to keep him from wanting a new deal. The Titans are going to have to shell out big bucks as many don't see Johnson budging on his side this time around. It's an interesting situation to watch, and once the lockout is over we'll see if the Titans act quickly.

SEA - QB Matt Hasselbeck was offered contract

Source: ESPN - John Clayton

Seattle Seahawks QB Matt Hasselbeck was reportedly offered a one-year, $7 million contract before the NFL lockout.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

That contract offer is likely more than any other team is going to offer the veteran QB. This offer was before the lockout and the Seahawks may decide to move forward in a new direction. Hasselbeck's service would be welcome in a number of places (Washington, Tennessee) but he won't make the same kind of money he would if he stayed in the Northwest.

TEN - QB Collins said he'd like to return as the starter

Source: Jim Wyatt - The Tennessean

Jim Wyatt of the Tennessean wrote on his twitter feed, "Kerry Collins reiterates he'd like to return to #Titans next year but made it clear he'd like to be starter, not a backup"

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Good luck with that, Kerry. The Titans have made it pretty clear that Jake Locker is their QB. Any starting Collins did would likely be more just keeping the seat warm until Locker is ready.

MIA - WR Marshall has resumed training

Source: Omar Kelly - South Florida Sun Sentinel

Omar Kelly, from the South Florida Sun-Sentinel, reports via Twitter that Dolphins WR Brandon Marshall has resumed training.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Marshall has not yet showed to players only workouts, but has begun training on his own. He's still recovering from a domestic violence incident that left him stabbed in the stomach in late April.

CHI - WR Earl Bennett has been working out with Jay Cutler

Source: Chicago Tribune - Brad Biggs

Chicago Bears WR Earl Bennett said he has been working out with QB Jay Cutler and other teammates four times a week during the lockout. Bennett said the workouts involve going through plays and passing routes.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Bennett and Cutler have always had great on field chemistry. The two played together in college at Vanderbilt, and Bennett is Cutler's most trusted target in Chicago. The team wants to feature him more this season and he could be in for a career year during a contract season.

MIA - QB Chad Pennington plans to sit out 2011 season

Source: Charleston Daily Mail - Rich Stevens

Miami Dolphins impending free-agent QB Chad Pennington (knee) said he is planning to sit out the 2011 season and do some work for Fox Sports. He said he has not had any noticeable setbacks in his recovery from a torn anterior cruciate ligament.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

It wouldn't surprise us to see Pennington back in the league after sitting out this season. He's not a starting caliber QB but could provide valuable veteran depth behind a younger player.

OAK - Denarius Moore not expected to make contribution early

Source: ESPN.com - James Walker

Oakland Raiders WR Denarius Moore is not expected to make a big contribution this season and is seen more of a long-term prospect that has good potential.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We love the skill set of Denarious Moore, but realize that he's a project who makes for a great dynasty league pick. Our very own Cecil Lammey watched Moore up close during the week of practice for the NFLPA Game in San Antonio earlier this year and came away very impressed. Moore has the speed to get on top of a defense in a hurry and will high point passes consistently. He is also a good route runner who can easily gain separation on cornerbacks.

CIN - Unlikely to be interested in WR T.J. Houshmandzadeh

Source: ESPN.com - James Walker

The Cincinnati Bengals likely will not show interest in Baltimore Ravens WR T.J. Houshmandzadeh once free agency begins.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Houshmandzadeh is nowhere near the player he used to be. The veteran receiver may not have many suitors after the lockout is lifted.

MIN - May look at adding WR Burress

Source: Eric Edholm - Pro Football Weekly

Eric Edholm, from ProFootballWeekly.com, reports the Vikings know bringing back free agent WR Sidney Rice is a top priority once the lockout is lifted. However, they have looked into alternatives like adding Plaxico Burress if Rice goes to a different team.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Vikings would need to add a WR via free agency if they end up losing Rice. Burress would make sense because he's a QB friendly wideout. Minnesota could be starting rookie Christian Ponder under center, and having a guy like Burress could help him a lot. Burress has good 'my ball' mentality and passes don't need to be on point for him to make a reception. He's made a career out of making difficult catches seem routine.

HOU - Would love to have QB Leinart back

Source: John McClain - Houston Chronicle

John McClain, from the Houston Chronicle, reports the Texans would love to have Matt Leinart stay with the team this year. However, McClain believes Leinart wants to compete for a starting job and will end up in Seattle where he'd be reunited with his college coach Pete Carroll.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Texans showed their interest by placing an original round (1st) tender on Leinart, who could end as a restricted free agent. However, most expect him to be an unrestricted free agent in the new CBA and Seattle seems like a likely destination.

MIA - QB Young trying to get face time in Miami?

Source: Armando Salguero - Miami Herald

Armando Salguero, from the Miami Herald, reports via Twitter that QB Vince Young has been spending a lot of time this offseason in Miami, in part to get face time with Dolphins people.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Young's days in Tennessee are over, and he's likely to be among the first cuts when the lockout is over. Miami is looking to add a QB via free agency to compete with Chad Henne in training camp for the starting job.

STL - WR Donnie Avery shows off his speed

Source: Twitter

St. Louis Rams WR Donnie Avery (knee) posted on his official Twitter page that he finished the week Friday, June 17, with a track workout. He clocked a 22 in the 200-meter, and a 4.4 in the 40-yard dash. Avery is making his way back from surgery to repair a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee, which limited him to just one game in 2010.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Avery has good upside, but injuries have hampered him so far during his pro career. He could put up good numbers in the new Josh McDaniels offense if he can stay on the field this year.
