Hi Folks,

Good Sunday to you. I hope you're having a (literal) blast this weekend between fireworks and BBQ and hanging out with folks you care about. Enjoy it.

In the meantime, we've got a couple of news and notes for you. Plus, one last request about the Facebook vote thing if you have a second.

Let's get to it.

SITE NEWS

A. Non Football Request - Toyota's 100 Cars For Good - Vote Sunday 7/3
I hope you'll forgive me asking here but this one is close to home for me. Toyota is sponsoring a program where they're giving away 100 cars to needy charities. Lost Sheep Ministries, an organization I'm involved with here in Knoxville has made it to the final round and if you'd take a second to vote for them THIS SUNDAY JULY 3, I'd really appreciate it. You can see some pics here of what we do each month with them downtown. Including some action shots of my buddy David Dodds when he was visiting. To vote on Facebook, click here for the link. You'll see the graphic that says "100 Cars For Good". They are accepting votes each day but the day to vote for Lost Sheep is this Sunday, July 3. You'll get the normal facebook request for permission thing. It would mean a lot to these people that are doing good work for our homeless folks in Knoxville. Thanks a lot.

NFL - WR Ochocinco says Burress looks really good

Source: Steve Cuce - Sports Radio Interviews

Steve Cuce, from SportsRadioInterviews.com, reports that in a recent interview Bengals WR Chad Ochocinco said free agent WR Plaxico Burress looks really good. "He hasnít missed a beat. We trained all of last week together he looks really good man, really good." Ochocinco said.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Good news for Burress here. The veteran WR spent two years away from the game as he served a prison sentence after pleading guilty to weapons charges. Burress may end up back in Pittsburgh with the Steelers.

CIN - WR Ochocinco threatens coach Lewis

Source: Steve Cuce - Sports Radio Interviews

Steve Cuce, SportsRadioInterviews.com, reports that in a recent radio interview Bengals WR Chad Ochocinco had some choice words for head coach Marvin Lewis. ďI donít know. Hopefully Marvin is doing this maybe to help me out. Maybe he is trying to cause some friction between himself and me. Maybe he doesnít like me for real. He doesnít like me well I donít like him either. Maybe heís doing this to help the situation out. Maybe heís trying to do this to show Mike Brown I donít think I can coincide with Chad, but dammit I canít coincide with him either and if he really feels that way when I see him Iím going to whoop his ass.Ē Ochocinco said.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Ochocinco constantly vacillates about his feeling towards the Bengals organization. We feel he'll be gone from Cincinnati this year and could sign with a team like the Patriots. He's not the same player he used to be and cannot be trusted as anything more than a WR3 in fantasy leagues.

SEA - Offered two picks for QB Kolb?

Source: Dave Mahler - 950 KJR

Dave Mahler, from 950 KJR in Seattle, reports that according to his sources the Seahawks offered two premium picks (first and a third) for Eagles QB Kevin Kolb sometime in the last four months.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Seahawks are likely to move on from the Matt Hasselbeck era, but giving up two picks could be a bit too much for Kolb. The Eagles could trade Kolb once the lockout is over and are looking for impact players or at least a first-round pick in return.

BAL - Team has interesting decisions on potential free agents

Source: Mike Wilkening - Pro Football Weekly

Mike Wilkening, from ProFootballWeekly.com, reports the Baltimore Ravens may have some interesting decisions should players need only four years of NFL service to be unrestricted free agents in the new Collective Bargaining Agreement. In this scenario, OT Jared Gaither, FB Le'Ron McClain, CB Josh Wilson and OT-OG Marshal Yanda all would be free to sign elsewhere without the Ravens receiving compensation.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The report from PFW says they've heard Yanda would be the team's first priority because of his ability to play both Right Tackle and Right Guard. If RB Willis McGahee is cut the team could decide to keep McClain because he can play both Running Back and Fullback.

ATL - QB Ryan ready to join the elite

Source: Dan Parr - Pro Football Weekly

Dan Parr, from ProFootballWeekly.com, reports Falcons TE Tony Gonzalez believes QB Matt Ryan is ready to join the elite group of quarterbacks in the NFL. "He's ready," Gonzalez said. "He's at that point in his career where, like most players, you really don't come into your own as a football player in the NFL until right around Year Three, Four, Five. He went to the Pro Bowl last year, but I'm talking like a Drew Brees, Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, Aaron Rodgers ó he's going to be up there with those guys if things go the way I think they can."

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We agree with Gonzalez here. Ryan plays with toughness, moxie, and a strong desire to win. The Falcons improved the weapons around him on offense in the 2011 NFL Draft and the team has Super Bowl expectations this season. If they can re-sign their free agent Offensive Linemen then they should challenge to reach that goal in 2011.

TB - Luke Stocker expected to see plenty of time

Source: PewterReport.com - Charlie Campbell

Tampa Bay Buccaneers TE Luke Stocker is expected to see a lot of playing time as a second tight end.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Stocker could be the future for the team at the position because Kellen Winslow Jr. is not getting any younger. The rookie from Tennessee is not Jason Witten 2.0 - but has a good all around skill set. He's got the size to outmuscle smaller defenders and decent speed to get upfield in a hurry.

SF - QB Smith ready to show lockout helped him and team

Source: The Associated Press

The Associated Press reports QB Alex Smith is ready to prove the lockout has helped him and the team this offseason. The 49ers have had several workouts together, led by the free agent Smith. He should return with a one- or two-year deal as the 49ers starting QB in 2011.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Smith has taken on a leadership role this offseason, but needs to produce in the regular season if he wants to prove the doubters wrong.

CAR - QB Newton has learned 90% of the offense

Source: Joe Person - Charlotte Observer

Joe Person, from the Charlotte Observer, reports former NFL QB Chris Weinke has installed about 90% of the Panthers playbook during his time working with Cam Newton.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Newton could begin the season as the starter for the Panthers as they begin a new chapter with head coach Ron Rivera. Because of the lockout he hasn't been able to work with the Panthers staff, but working with Weinke will help keep his skills fresh until training camp.

SEA - TE Konz fully recovered, ready for season

Source: Steve Doerschuk - Canton Repository

Steve Doerschuk, from the Canton Repository, reports second-year TE Jameson Konz is fully recovered from the hip injury that cost him his entire rookie season. ďI feel like Iíve recovered 100 percent. I still feel fast. I feel back to normal. I know I have the passion and the potential to do whatever they want me to do.Ē Konz said.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ OUR VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Konz is an athletic and versatile player who makes for an interesting roster stash in deep dynasty leagues. After missing last season due to injury he'll have to wow coaches in training camp so he stays off the roster bubble.

That'll do it for today, Folks. Have a great Sunday and rest of your weekend.

Peace,
