Can play a little bit of slot. Move him into the backfield. Obviously, he had 1,000 yards over the last two years, and then he can catch the ball out of the back field. Good in the screen game. Competitor, man,' Coen told SI.com.

Link to storyAfter selecting Drake Maye at No. 3 overall last year, the Patriots have provided the young quarterback with a new head coach, offensive coordinator, and weapons to help his success in 2025. However, one of New England's veteran receivers has been with the club for several years and has noticed a difference in Maye during the offseason program. "The confidence is there, maybe even more confidence," receiver Kendrick Bourne said on Tuesday. "He's just -- obviously, he's gonna be in a new system. So I think he's in that process. He's learning. But the confidence is there. Drake is a competitor."
Footballguys view: Maye was one of few standout performers for the Patriots last season, completing 66.6 percent of passes for 2,276 yards with 15 touchdowns and 10 interceptions while adding 421 rushing yards and two touchdowns on the ground. This year, Maye is learning a system that Bourne is already comfortable in with offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels returning. Bourne had the best season of his career in his lone year under McDaniels when he caught 55 passes for 800 yards with five touchdowns in 2021. Having a receiver who can help him get up to speed will benefit Maye, who is being drafted as QB15 in Round 10 in early best-ball drafts. |

Detroit Lions WR Jameson Williams is primed to have 'a breakout year' in 2025, according to offensive coordinator John Morton.
Footballguys view: As SI.com suggested, the 2024 season can qualify as a breakout year for Williams in the eyes of many, as he surpassed 1,000 receiving yards for the first time and set numerous career-high totals. Still, Morton has been blown away with how well Williams has adapted to his style and the plan put in front of him. "When I first got here, he came in to see me," Morton said. "We had a chat, and this is how I'm painting the picture, what you need to do, and how I see it. He has been unbelievable. Unbelievable in the meetings, attention to detail. I'm excited to see him this year." The next step in Williams' development will be consistency. He had his share of big games last season, such as a 121-yard showing in last year's season-opener and his 143-yard performance in Chicago. Now, his development is centered around finding the sweet spot with consistency over the course of the 17-game NFL season. Williams' current Footballguys Projection, WR29, matches his Average Draft Position in early best-balls. |
Free-agent CB Rasul Douglas (Bills) reportedly visited with the Miami Dolphins last week, according to a source.

Cincinnati Bengals DE Trey Hendrickson told reporters on Tuesday, May 13, that he will not play this season under his current contract. Hendrickson is scheduled to earn $15.8 million in base salary in 2025 - the final season of a four-year contract.
Footballguys view: The Bengals' star pass rusher appeared at the team's voluntary workouts Tuesday -- not in uniform -- and addressed reporters, a day after he released a statement to ESPN's Adam Schefter saying the team has cut off contract talks with him. Hendrickson said Tuesday he's disappointed with the Bengals' lack of communication and that the situation has become "personal." However, he indicated that his relationship with the team could still be repaired. Hendrickson, 30, is entering the final year of his contract and is coming off his best season in the NFL. He led the league with 17.5 sacks in 2024. We'll continue to monitor this story. |

Carolina Panthers RB Trevor Etienne signed his rookie contract on Tuesday, May 13. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Footballguys view: Etienne, the younger brother of Jaguars running back Travis Etienne, played two years at Florida before transferring to Georgia for the 2024 season. He ran 122 times for 609 yards and nine touchdowns while also catching 32 passes in his lone season with the Bulldogs. With 2024 second-round pick Jonathon Brooks (knee) already ruled out for this season, Chuba Hubbard, Rico Dowdle, and Raheem Blackshear are the remaining running backs for Carolina. |
Undrafted free-agent DT Wilfried Pene (Virginia Tech) signed with the New England Patriots as an international player and won't occupy a spot on the 90-man roster.
Link to storyGreen Bay Packers offensive coordinator Adam Stenavich says it will be a 'big thing' to 'find different ways' to get TE Tucker Kraft the ball more this season, adding they're looking for Kraft to take the 'next step' in becoming a 'dominant player' at the tight end position.
Footballguys view: With Luke Musgrave slowed by injuries, Kraft took command of the Packers' tight end room in 2024. He led the team in receiving touchdowns with seven, and, as Journal Sentinal staffer Dominique Yates noted, Tucker brought a physical presence to the offense with his blocking ability and yards after catch (team-high 456 yards). Kraft is reasonably priced in early best-ball drafts, going at the tail end of the TE1 range in the 11th round with the 124th pick overall. |

New England Patriots WR Efton Chism III could challenge for a spot on the team's 53-man roster, in the opinion of ESPN's Mike Reiss, who notes that the Patriots gave Chism, an undrafted free agent, a $25,000 signing bonus and guaranteed $234,000 of his base salary, which eclipsed the amount of guaranteed money that the team's seventh-round picks received. The rookie totaled 346 receptions in college and has drawn comparisons to current Seattle Seahawks WR Cooper Kupp, who preceded him at Eastern Washington.
Link to storyJacksonville Jaguars RB Tank Bigsby is not 'guaranteed' a roster spot for the 2025 season, in the opinion of Jacksonville.com's Demetrius Harvey, who notes that Jacksonville has worked to reshape the offensive line and running back positions following the hiring of new head coach Liam Coen.
Footballguys view: In another effort to reshape the team's running backs room, the Jaguars took two backs in this year's draft. Bhayshul Tuten, drafted out of Virginia Tech, is the most likely to receive extensive playing time. According to Times-Union staffer Demetrius Harvey, head coach Liam Coen's scouting report indicates that Tuten could get some playing time as the team's change-of-pace back but can play all three downs if needed. Jacksonville is entering the year with top backs Travis Etienne and Bigsby on board. Still, given the extensive work the team has done to reshape the offensive line and their running backs room, Harvey contends neither player's roster spot should be guaranteed. We'll monitor this situation closely throughout training camp. |

Green Bay Packers WR Jayden Reed's agent met with general manager Brian Gutekunst after the team selected two receivers during the 2025 NFL Draft, and Gutekunst said Reed will continue to be a top receiver for the Packers, according to a source.
Footballguys view: Reed, 25, is entering his third season after the Packers made him a second-round pick in 2023. He led the team in receptions and receiving yards in each of his first two seasons, totaling 119 catches for 1,650 yards and 14 touchdowns in that time. But consistent weekly production wasn't a strong suit. It'll be interesting to see how the pecking order plays out for this receiving corps, with Christian Watson likely to miss the bulk of the season. Golden's first-round draft capital suggests a significant role, while Williams is more of a versatile weapon along the lines of Reed. |

Pittsburgh Steelers WR Calvin Austin is a player that the Steelers are high on at receiver, according to SI.com's Albert Breer.
Footballguys view: Breer advised readers that the Steelers think more highly of Austin than people realize and that he's a name to watch with George Pickens traded to Dallas. After emerging in 2024 with 36 receptions for 548 yards and four touchdowns, Austin appears ready to take on a larger role. But according to BVM Sports, Austin's strength lies in making big plays, often in the middle of the field, whereas Pickens was known for outside routes. Some question whether Austin is suited for heavy volume as a leading receiver. But Roman Wilson, Austin's primary competition for targets behind DK Metcalf, has limited experience with only five offensive snaps. We'll be watching for more on this situation in coming weeks. |

Link to storyFree-agent WR Gabe Davis (Jaguars) is scheduled to meet with the San Francisco 49ers in the near future, according to a source.
Footballguys view: The Jaguars officially released Davis with a failed physical designation after he tore his meniscus in November, but he is expected to be ready to go for Week 1. As Profootballtalk.com notes, the 26-year-old Davis was a 2020 fourth-round pick of the Bills who played four seasons in Buffalo before signing in Jacksonville last season. He was a solid member of the Bills' receiving corps for four years but had his least productive season with the Jaguars. If he's healthy and in the right offense, he could be a solid contributor to some other team's passing game, and the 49ers may be that team. |
