San Francisco 49ers LB Fred Warner (ankle) has not been ruled out for the season, but head coach Kyle Shanahan said Warner will not be a possible option until the NFC Championship game at the earliest.
| Footballguys view: The 49ers are suddenly thin at linebacker. Warner hasn't played since dislocating and fracturing his right ankle in Week 6, and his replacement, Tatum Bethune, is now out for the season after tearing his groin in the Week 18 loss to the Seahawks. Shanahan said Bethune might need surgery. Eric Kendricks will now take over. Linebackers Dee Winters (ankle) and Luke Gifford (quad) will be evaluated later this week. |

Cleveland Browns DE Myles Garrett had a solo tackle, a sack, a tackle for loss and two quarterback hits in Week 18 against the Cincinnati. He reached 23 sacks to set a new NFL single-season mark, breaking the record held by former New York Giants DE Michael Strahan and current Pittsburgh Steelers LB T.J. Watt.
| Footballguys view: We throw around the term generational talent too often, but Garrett has ended up being exactly that. The Browns are at an eternal crossroads when it comes to their quarterback situation, but Garrett and the defense are good enough to make them a winner if they can just become a middle of the road offense. We'll be watching to see what they do in response to finishing 31st in scoring, after finishing 32nd in 2024. |
