Cowboys | Javonte Williams able to break tackles Sun Feb 1, 12:09 PM
Dallas Cowboys RB Javonte Williams recorded 25 broken tackles during the 2025 regular season, which ranked second in the NFL in that category.
Footballguys view: Signed to a one-year deal after spending four years with the Denver Broncos, Williams had fewer than four yards per attempt the past two years in the league. But Williams excelled in the Cowboys' zone running scheme. He finished with 1,201 yards and 11 touchdowns on the ground while averaging 4.8 yards per attempt en route to an RB9 finish in fantasy. Now, the Cowboys have to decide if they're going to bring him back as an unrestricted free agent or allow him to hit the open market.

Denver Broncos QB Bo Nix recorded a league-leading seven game-winning drives during the 2025 regular season.
Footballguys view: Nix's 24 regular-season wins are tied for the most in NFL history in a player's first two seasons, and he posted more wins in 2025 than any quarterback has in a single season in franchise history. In 2025, the Broncos tied a franchise record for regular-season wins, earned their first division title in a decade and captured the No. 1 seed in the AFC. The late-game comebacks added to that. Nix, who finished 2025 as QB9 in fantasy points, is recovering from ankle surgery on his ankle. He expects to recover in four to six weeks.
Chicago Bears QB Caleb Williams produced a league-leading six fourth-quarter comebacks during the 2025 regular season.
Footballguys view: Williams flourished in his first year working with coach Ben Johnson, setting a Bears single-season passing record with 3,942 yards and ranking fifth in the NFL with a 27-to-7 touchdown-to-interception ratio. The late-game heroics added to that. The former USC standout was at his best in crunch time, regularly displaying his clutch gene with remarkable highlight throws that had to be seen to be believed. Fantasy investors can expect to pay a premium for Williams, who finished as QB5, in 2025.
Las Vegas Raiders QB Geno Smith was sacked 55 times during the 2025 regular season, which was tied for the most in the NFL.
Footballguys view: As SBNation pointed out, Smith led the league in another aspect: He was among the NFL leaders in passing yards during garbage time. Smith threw for 736 passing yards when the game was out of reach in 2025. It was the third most in the league last season. That means Smith accounted for nearly a quarter of his total season passing yards during garbage time. Indiana QB Fernando Mendoza will likely be drafted by the 3-14 Raiders with the first pick overall in April's draft, and it remains to be seen where Smith will be.

Tennessee Titans QB Cam Ward was sacked 55 times during the 2025 regular season, which was tied for the most in the NFL.
Footballguys view: It seems safe to assume that addressing the offensive line will be a priority under new coach Robert Saleh and OC Brian Daboll. We'll remind you that Ward improved noticeably late last season. The rookie threw only six touchdown passes through the first 12 games, but threw two scoring strikes per game over his final four outings (he was hurt early in Week 18). He was intercepted just once over that span after getting picked off six times in the first 12 games. That late-season improvement is reason for optimism. Better protection would add to that.
Dallas Cowboys QB Dak Prescott was blitzed 163 times during the 2025 regular season, which ranked second in the NFL.
Footballguys view: Nonetheless, Prescott delivered one of the best seasons of his career. As ESPN.com noted, for the fourth time, he threw for more than 4,000 yards and had at least 30 touchdown passes. He completed at least 60% of his passes in each of the first 15 games. He became the franchise's all-time leader in passing yards (35,989), passing Tony Romo. He is tied for the NFL lead with six 300-yard passing games. He is tied for third in multi-touchdown passing games (10). He also finished the season as QB6 in fantasy points.

Detroit Lions QB Jared Goff had 2,424 of his 4,564 passing yards this season come after the catch, which led the league in that category.
Footballguys view: Despite a coordinator change, Goff continued his run of highly efficient seasons, posting the second-best passer rating of his 10-year career. But he remained heavily reliant on short throws and yards after the catch, maximizing the roster's speed-and-space arsenal. His average pass traveled just 6.43 yards beyond the line of scrimmage. It's a reminder for fantasy investors that supporting casts matter. Goff, who was drafted as QB12 in 2025, finished the year as QB8.

Detroit Lions RB Jahmyr Gibbs recorded 819 rushing yards before contact this season, which ranked third in the NFL in that category.
Footballguys view: That's obviously a plus, but since being selected 12th overall in the 2023 NFL Draft, Gibbs has done exactly what the Lions envisioned -- and more. Over his first three NFL seasons, Gibbs has averaged 5.3 yards per carry, scored 13 touchdowns per season, and become a matchup nightmare as both a runner and receiver. He's solidified himself as a cornerstone of Detroit's offense, and that's not going to change in 2026, even with a change of offensive coordinators. Gibbs, who finished as RB4 in 2025, will be locked in as a top pick this summer.

Link to storyTampa Bay Buccaneers WR Mike Evans is scheduled to be an unrestricted free agent this offseason, but QB Baker Mayfield said he expects Evans to return to the team next season.
Footballguys view: There are rumblings out there that Evans will not return to the Buccaneers in free agency. That seems a bit odd because we can't imagine him playing for another team. However, things change in the NFL - even for long-time veterans like Evans. Coming off his first non-1,000-yard receiving season, Evans may be looking for a fresh start. He's not quite the player he used to be, but Evans could be in for a bounce-back season in 2026...in Tampa or somewhere else.

Carolina Panthers impending free-agent RB Rico Dowdle may not return to the team next season since he likely will ask for a high salary this offseason, and the team already has RB Chuba Hubbard and Jonathon Brooks on the roster, in the opinion of ESPN.com's David Newton.
Footballguys view: Dowdle is one of the best backs available in free agency, and it seems unlikely he would take a hometown discount to stay with the Panthers. Coming off back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons on the ground, Dowdle may be playing on his third team in three years in 2026. We'll see how much interest RB-needy teams have in Dowdle later this offseason. He's an RB2 for Fantasy GMs in the right landing spot.

New York Jets impending free-agent RB Breece Hall may be a candidate for either the franchise tag or transition tag this offseason if the two sides are not able to reach an agreement on a new contract, in the opinion of ESPN.com's Rich Cimini.
Footballguys view: Hall is arguably the best running back available in free agency this offseason. We could see several teams vying for his services if the Jets don't tag him. A franchise tag has a projected value at $14.1 million for a one-year deal. The Jets could tag him and then get until mid-July to work out a long-term contract. If they lose Hall in free agency, the Jets would be searching for a new lead back (among many other things).
Washington Commanders impending free-agent TE Zach Ertz (knee) is recovering from a torn anterior cruciate ligament but does want to continue his playing career, according to a source. Ertz is not expected to return to the Commanders next season.
Footballguys view: Ertz suffered the injury on a dirty hit against the Vikings in Week 14. He's on the road to recovery, and now has had two major knee injuries in his career. Ertz can still be a reliable target, but he may not be ready to play until the midway point of the 2026 season. Returning to the Commanders on another one-year deal makes sense, but they'll be looking to add to their tight end room in the meantime.

Stanford TE Sam Roush is the 'best pure drive blocker' at the position in the 2026 NFL Draft, according to Lance Zierlein of NFL.com.
Footballguys view: Roush is a traditional "Y" tight end who can be counted on as a blocker and as a receiver. He's a mid-round pick with high football intelligence and the ability to contribute right away because of his blocking ability. While Roush is a good route-runner, he may get typecast into being primarily a blocker at the pro level. If that happens, it would clearly limit his fantasy value.
Houston TE Tanner Koziol was 'the stud tight end' for the National Team during Senior Bowl practices, according to Justin Melo of The Draft Network.
Footballguys view: Koziol certainly is a stud who can use his size and receiving ability to be a threat all over the field - and especially in the red zone. At 6-feet, 7-inches Koziol dominates 'above the rim' on the football field. He set a school record with 94 catches in 2024 at Ball State. Then, in 2025 with Houston, he led the team in catches (74) proving himself against tougher competition. With a standout performance at the Senior Bowl, Koziol could rise up draft boards. We believe he'll be a mid-round pick in the 2026 NFL draft.
Louisville WR Caullin Lacy was an 'electric route runner' during Senior Bowl practices, according to Alan Saunders of Steelers Now.
Footballguys view: Lacy knows how to cut a rug and get open against off coverage. His size and skill set projects him as a slot receiver at the pro level. Lacy's run-after-the-catch ability means he can take short passes and turn them into long gains. He also can contribute as a dangerous return man in the NFL. Lacy will need to learn the full route tree and prove himself against press coverage to play up to his full potential. He's seen as a Day 3 pick with upside.
Cincinnati WR Cyrus Allen 'wreaked havoc' on the defensive backs during Senior Bowl practices and made several contested catches, according to Alan Saunders of Steelers Now.
Footballguys view: Scouts know that Allen can 'churn and burn' on the football field. He's got blazing speed and is a big-play threat anytime he runs a route. Allen has a nose for the end zone as evidenced by his Big-12 leading 13 receiving touchdowns in 2025. He's got to become a more natural hands-catcher (too many body catches on film for our liking) and clean up his concentration drops. Allen is projected a Day 3 pick with upside.
LSU QB Garrett Nussmeier's consistency stood out during Senior Bowl practices, according to Alan Saunders of Steelers Now.
Footballguys view: It's a great week of work at the Senior Bowl for a quarterback who was once thought of as a first-round lock. Now, after an injury-plagued and inconsistent 2025 season we should see Nussmeier as a mid-round pick. Nussmeier is known as a smart quarterback who tends to go a bit too much into 'gunslinger' mode when under duress. With his performance at the Senior Bowl, Nussmeier might move into the late second or early third round.
Baylor QB Sawyer Robertson 'stood out for his inconsistency' during Senior Bowl practices, according to Alan Saunders of Steelers Now, and Saunders estimates that 20% of Robertson's attempts resulted in 'uncatchable passes.'

Link to storyWashington Commanders passing game coordinator Brian Johnson interviewed with the Denver Broncos for their offensive coordinator vacancy on Friday, Jan. 30.
Footballguys view: This is a bit perplexing as recent developments seemed to pave the way for quarterback coach Davis Webb to be promoted to offensive coordinator after he was in consideration for the Bills head coach job among other spots. Johnson has been the pass game coordinator for the Commanders, but was passed over for the offensive coordinator job after the team chose assistant quarterback coach David Blough over him to replace Kliff Kingsbury. Johnson hasn't officially left the Commanders staff, but this is a sign that he will whether or not he gets the job with Denver.

Carolina Panthers WR Jalen Coker will enter training camp as the team's WR2 on the depth chart, according to head coach Dave Canales.
Footballguys view: Coker finished the season with a massive 9-134-1 line in the last second loss to the Rams. He should benefit from Tetairoa McMillan often drawing the best outside corner from the opposing defense. Coker has won on downfield routes consistently and should have the trust of Bryce Young as a big play target. His value is trending up considerably in dynasty leagues.
Texas Tech WR Reggie Virgil was impressive in every day of Senior Bowl practice, according to Daniel Jeremiah of NFL.com, and Jeremiah believes Virgil stood out above every wide receiver with the exception of Notre Dame WR Malachi Fields.

Buffalo Bills WR Keon Coleman has a good chance to remain on the roster because head coach Joe Brady said he believes in Coleman and expects him to improve. 'He's going to continue to grow, but the elements that we saw in the draft process -- the confidence that I have in him and his ability -- and as long as he's handling what he needs to do off the field, I have no doubt that he's going to be successful on the field,' Brady said
Footballguys view: That's good for Brady to say, but it may not be how the franchise feels about the young receiver. Bills GM Brandon Beane and Bills owner Terry Pegula just last week threw Coleman under the bus for being a bad pick...or a pick that was forced by the previous coaching staff (Sean McDermott). There are videos of Beane going on and on about how he loved Coleman before the draft, but forget about the facts...things are all good now. At least that's what they want you to believe.

Green Bay Packers quarterbacks coach Sean Mannion has been hired by the Philadelphia Eagles as their new offensive coordinator.
Footballguys view: A former quarterback, Mannion now gets to work with Jalen Hurts. Expect more West Coast/Shanahan concepts from Mannion's offense. He's played for Sean McVay (a Mike Shanahan disciple), and worked with Kevin O'Connell (Vikings) and Matt LaFleur (Packers). With wide-zone running and play-action passing a hallmark of those systems, expect the Eagles to be more explosive on offense in 2026.

Cincinnati Bengals RB Chase Brown and his reps are 'working hard' on an extension.
Footballguys view: Browns 2025 season started slowly, but he exploded in the second half of the year and finished with his first 1,000-yard rushing season of his career. Add in his 69 catches and you can see how impactful Brown is on the Bengals' offense. With Joe Burrow back in action in 2026, Brown can continue to be the primary back on an explosive offense.
