Lions | Sam LaPorta looking good for start of '26 season Wed Jun 17, 12:41 AM
Detroit Lions TE Sam LaPorta (back) is 'trending the right way' with his back injury, and is expected to be ready for the regular season, according to a Tuesday, June 16 report.
Footballguys view: LaPorta finished as the TE1 in fantasy in 2023, defying history when it came to rookie tight ends as fantasy producers. But he's slowed down since, pulling in a combined 100 passes for 1,215 yards and 10 touchdowns in 25 games over the past two seasons. Nonetheless, he was on track for a third straight top-10 finish at his position last year, and he finished seventh in points per game. So, even if you're not sure LaPorta has the upside to return to top-five form, his current TE8 ADP and seventh-round price leave room for upside.

Denver Broncos QB Bo Nix (ankle) said that bone spurs led to second ankle surgery, but 'I feel great,' according to a report from the Denver Post on Tuesday, June 16. Nix has participated in walkthrough drills and stated that he could play right now if he wanted.
Footballguys view: Losing Nix to injury in the divisional playoffs was a brutal blow for the Broncos. It was even more painful because Nix finished the season strong. Though he was 15th in QBR for the season (58.3), he registered a 66.3 from Week 13 on (the equivalent of ranking seventh). This year, with Jaylen Waddle joining Courtland Sutton at wideout and QBs coach Davis Webb taking over the playcalling, there's reason to believe Nix can continue his development. Remember, he's finished as QB8 and QB9 in fantasy the last two seasons. Nix is being drafted as QB15 this year.
New Orleans Saints WR Chris Olave, who has not fully practiced since Week 17 of last season, will reportedly get off of blood thinners on June 29 to potentially be fully cleared for all football activities, according to a source on Tuesday, June 16. Olave has only done individual work during the Saints' offseason training program after missing Week 18 with a blood clot in his lung.
Footballguys view: The Saints' offense was effective with Tyler Shough under center in 2025, which opened the door for Olave to emerge as the fantasy player we've all been waiting for. In fact, he finished the season as WR6 after closing out the year with 20 or more fantasy points in his final three games. He hit career highs in targets (156), receptions (100), yardage (1,163), and touchdowns (nine). But this issue is one of the reasons he's being drafted as WR11 with the 27th pick overall. Drafting him as your second receiver could be a winning move.
Los Angeles Chargers WR Ladd McConkey reportedly strained his left hamstring during the Chargers' offseason program, but doesn't view it as a significant concern and expects to be ready for training camp, according to a source on Tuesday, June 16.
Footballguys view: "There's no reason to rush it and really push it and then have another setback, and then you bleed into training camp," McConkey told reporters. After what was perhaps the best rookie wide receiving season in team history, where he finished with 82 receptions, 1,149 yards, and seven touchdowns, McConkey took a step back in year two with lesser totals in almost every major category. He ended the 2025 season with 66 catches, 789 yards, and six touchdowns. Going into year three, he's planning for a bounce-back season. McConkey is being drafted as WR19 this year.
Tennessee Titans QB Cam Ward told reporters at minicamp that his shoulder is fine and he has no issues with it, according to a source on Tuesday, June 16.
Footballguys view: Ward has had some accuracy issues at times during OTAs over the past couple of weeks, but the Titans' coaching staff isn't concerned. "Every quarterback is going to miss a couple here and there," first-year head coach Robert Saleh said. Still learning a new offense, Ward is also getting acclimated to new receivers Carnell Tate and Wan'Dale Robinson. Ward said there's a feeling-out process between himself and his new pass catchers that can only be eliminated by getting more reps. And he'll get plenty of those when training camp opens.
The Detroit Lions signsed WRs Lucky Jackson and Tarik Black on Tuesday, June 16. Black played in one game for the New York Jets in 2021.

Link to storyDenver Broncos WR Michael Woods II and CB Paul Manning were waived by the Broncos, according to a source on Tuesday, June 16. Woods II was waived with a waived/injured designation and Manning was waived with an injury settlement.

Los Angeles Chargers QB Justin Herbert will reportedly throw during all three days of this week's mandatory minicamp after taking multiple days off from throwing during OTAs, according to a source on Tuesday, June 16.
Footballguys view: Herbert has been adjusting his footwork in an effort to get the ball out quicker, so now it's time to cement the new mind-body connection. This approach by new offensive coordinator Mike McDaniel will help set up run after catch opportunities and help an offensive line that has potential weakness at both guard spots.

Free-agent DE Byron Cowart (Jets), TE Thomas Odukoya (Patriots), OT Jake Curhan (Panthers), LB Anfernee Orji (Titans) and P Matt Hayball (Saints) will reportedly work out with the Atlanta Falcons this week during their minicamp, according to a source on Tuesday, June 16.

Texas Tech QB Brendan Sorsby has scheduled a Pro Day workout for teams ahead of the NFL Supplemental Draft on July 10.
Link to storyFree agent TE Marshall Lang (Seahawks) and DL Jahvaree Ritzie (Seahawks) signed with the Minnesota Vikings on Tuesday, June 16. The team waived OT Caleb Etienne and DL Monkell Goodwine as corresponding moves.
Link to storyLos Angeles Chargers WR Ladd McConkey is 'working through something,' according to head coach Jim Harbaugh. No further details were provided.
Footballguys view: There's no indications that this is anything to be worried about, but McConkey isn't known for his durability, so we'll be tracking this when training camp opens next month. He did reveal that it was a hamstring injury suffered during Phase 2 of the offseason program, so a recurrence in camp would be a red flag. Harbaugh also said that he and offensive coordinator Mike McDaniel think McConkey could have a career year, so if you are in on McConkey, stay in on him.
Texas Tech QB Brendan Sorsby is unlikely to have a bid placed on him in the NFL Supplemental Draft by the Cleveland Browns, according to the Cleveland Plain Dealer's Mary Kay Cabot.
Footballguys view: The Browns are one of the teams that make the most sense for Sorsby, so we will take this report with a grain of salt. Perhaps new head coach Todd Monken wants to give Shedeur Sanders a chance to be the clear quarterback of the future, but as we've seen in the past with Cleveland, quarterback decisions aren't always made by the football operations employees.
Atlanta Falcons QB Michael Penix Jr. (knee) has not yet been cleared for 11-on-11 work, according to head coach Kevin Stefanski. He added, 'He's exactly where he needs to be.'
Footballguys view: Until Penix is healthy, the quarterback competition won't truly get underway in Atlanta. Hopefully both he and Tua Tagovailoa look like starting quality quarterbacks in camp to make Stefanski's decision more difficult, but enhance the value of the players in the Falcons offense.
New Orleans Saints RB Devin Neal is in the rehab process following a knee injury suffered last week, according to head coach Kellen Moore.
Footballguys view: Broncos 2024 fourth round pick Audric Estime looked good in place of Neal last season, and he's only 22, so this is a chance for him to show he deserves to make the roster whether the team keeps Alvin Kamara or not.
Free agent RB Zamir White (Raiders) worked out for the Dallas Cowboys in recent days, according to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler.
Link to storyTexas Tech QB Brendan Sorsby has reportedly applied to enter the NFL's Supplemental Draft, according to a source on Monday, June 15.
Footballguys view: Which team(s) will bid a future pick to land Sorsby, and in which round(s)? That question will be occupying many football minds, but first we need to know whether the NFL will allow him to enter the supplemental draft. Cleveland, the Jets, and Minnesota are among the teams most commonly mentioned as possibilities anywhere from the second to fifth round, by the way.
New Orleans Saints RB Alvin Kamara reported for the start of the mandatory minicamp Monday, June 15.
Footballguys view: Kamara could get traded, get released (and possibly then retire), or just play for the Saints this season. Every day he shows up at the team facility is one day closer to the third outcome, but the first two will save the Saints money. If Kamara is a Saint come Week 1, that's a hit for Travis Etienne's fantasy value, especially in PPR leagues because Kamara's most likely role is as a passing down back.

Denver Broncos RB J.K. Dobbins was close to a contract agreement with the Jacksonville Jaguars this offseason before deciding to re-sign with the Broncos, according to a source.
Footballguys view: This could be an indication that the Jaguars want to have a running back committee with a strong between the tackles runner to pair with Bhayshul Tuten. Chris Rodriguez Jr. is out after having foot surgery earlier in the offseason. He was the back the Jags pivoted to when they didn't land Dobbins.
J.K. Dobbins player page
Dallas Cowboys head coach Brian Schottenheimer told the media on Tuesday, June 16, that QB Dak Prescott will be limited in team drills. He said it's nothing to be concerned about.
Footballguys view: We trust Schottenheimer here. Even if Prescott is limited at times in camp, he is a proven veteran, so we won't be inclined to reduce the Dallas passing game projections. Matthew Stafford has nursed a back issue in recent training camps, but otherwise was unaffected during the season, and Prescott deserves the same kind of faith we put in Stafford despite his age and physical condition.

Kansas City Chiefs WR Rashee Rice was released from jail Tuesday, June 16, after a 30-day sentence for a probation violation.
Footballguys view: If Rice is full go at the beginning of camp, we can probably restore him to his pre-incarceration ADP. He did have a cleanup knee surgery right before going in, so that's not a sure thing. 2025 fourth round pick Jalen Royals has flashed, but has also been inconsistent at times in place of Rice. It doesn't sound like the league is going to give Rice a suspension for his probation violation.

Free-agent WR Erik Ezukanma (UFL) agreed to an undisclosed deal with the Philadelphia Eagles Tuesday, June 16.
Link to storyFree-agent WR Kaden Davis (UFL) agreed to a one-year deal with the Chicago Bears Tuesday, June 16. Financial terms weren't disclosed.
Link to storyFree-agent WR Jalen Moreno-Cropper (Cowboys) is scheduled to participate in the New Orleans Saints mandatory minicamp on a tryout basis, according to a source.
Link to storyDenver Broncos RB RJ Harvey (shoulder) underwent surgery this offseason to repair a torn labrum he suffered during the playoffs, according to sources. He was able to do some things during offseason workouts.
Footballguys view: While Harvey was able to mix into some drills, he did not do much team work as he works his way back, per Luca Evans of The Denver Post. As a rookie, the 2025 second-round pick totaled 193 touches for 896 yards from scrimmage and 12 touchdowns. We'll continue to monitor, but this news doesn't have a significant impact on his outlook for now. Harvey will play behind J.K. Dobbins and will compete with rookie Jonah Coleman for the backup job.
Carolina Panthers TE Bryce Pierre (undisclosed) was waived from the Reserve/Injured list Monday, June 15.
Link to storyFree-agent WR Kristian Wilkerson (Bills) worked out for the Chicago Bears Monday, June 15, according to a source.

Free-agent WR Levi Wentz (Seahawks) signed a one-year contract with the Pittsburgh Steelers Monday, June 15. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Link to storyGreen Bay Packers WR Jakobie Keeney-James were released Monday, June 15.
Link to storyJacksonville Jaguars RB LeQuint Allen 'appears to once again be primed for a role on passing downs,' according to John Shipley of SI.com.
Footballguys view: Allen was one of the best pass blocking backs in the league - as a rookie - and he is not a scatback at 6'0", 204 pounds. He is an excellent receiver, who should get more targets in his second year, and he could surprise if injuries press him into duty on early downs. Keep him on your waiver wire speed dial at least until Chris Rodriguez is healthy.
Dallas Cowboys RB Jaydon Blue was praised for his work ethic during OTAs by head coach Brian Schottenheimer, and Schottenheimer believes Blue has become a different player.
Footballguys view: This has been a steady drumbeat - along with Ryan Flournoy's progress while George Pickens missed voluntary practices - that we shouldn't ignore. Blue should get some manufactured touches in space and a handful of carries a game to get his speed into play. If Javonte Williams were to miss time, fellow 2025 draft pick Phil Mafah - who is also having a good offseason - would probably be the early down back, so Blue's upside in redraft leagues could be limited.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Ted Hurst has impressed with his ability to make plays 'at all three levels,' according to Scott Reynolds of PewterReport.com.
Footballguys view: Hurst is similar to George Pickens in terms of body type and physical gifts, and it sounds like the Georgia State product is translating against NFL players - at least in practice. If Hurst is ready for significant work as a rookie, it will likely come at the "X" position vacated by Mike Evans when he signed with San Francisco in free agency. That would put Hurst on our fantasy radar, but his snaps would come at the expense of one of the three established receivers - Chris Godwin, Emeka Egbuka, and Jalen McMillan. It's a good problem to have if you're Baker Mayfield, who is undervalued coming off of a season when he and a lot of his offense suffered injuries.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Kenneth Gainwell has been referred to as 'running back 1B' by head coach Todd Bowles.
Footballguys view: Between Bucky Irving's injury issues in 2025 and Gainwell's big moments as a receiver and runner for the Steelers last yaer, this just makes sense. The Bucs giving Gainwell a two-year, $14 million also indicates that they don't see him as a backup or change of pace option. Irving has more juice than Gainwell, but their ADP's should not be 50 picks apart.

New England Patriots WR Kayshon Boutte 'looked like one of the best receivers on the field' during minicamp, according to Mike Reiss of ESPN.com.
Footballguys view: The Patriots have a glut of receivers since they signed Romeo Doubs and traded for AJ Brown during the offseason. Boutte was used mostly as an "X" receiver last year, which is where Brown will get the majority of his snaps, but both players have the versatility to line up at all three wide receiver spots. Boutte is headed to free agency next year, and presumably the Patriots won't sign him after adding Doubs and Brown. If a team comes with an offer of a third or fourth round pick for Boutte, they could bite. Either way, the 24-year-old's dynasty stock is on the rise.

Free-agent TE Luke Lachey (Packers) signed with the Green Bay Packers Monday, June 15. Terms of the contract were not disclosed.
Link to storyDenver Broncos WR Michael Woods II (undisclosed) did not participate in the voluntary workout Thursday, June 11.
Link to storyDallas Cowboys WR George Pickens reported for the start of mandatory minicamp Monday, June 15.
Footballguys view: The most likely outcome continues to be Pickens playing this year on the franchise tag and then heading to free agency. Dallas might be open to trading him, but not many teams would want to take on a $27.3 million cap hit for a player with Pickens reputation. Ryan Flournoy continues to impress and riff with Dak Prescott while Pickens was away during voluntary minicamp, so the Cowboys have little incentive to sign Pickens to a long term deal unless it was very team-friendly.
Free-agent WR Hakeem Butler (UFL) signed an undisclosed deal with the Denver Broncos Monday, June 15. Butler was the offensive player of the year with the St. Louis Battlehawks in the UFL.
Footballguys view: Butler was chosen by the Cardinals as the first pick of the third day of the 2019 draft. He's 30 now, so his peak physical years are behind him, but Butler's huge catch radius and ball skills could still be useful enough to earn a spot on the practice squad for the Broncos.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers TE Devin Culp (hamstring) has been sidelined by a hamstring injury but is expected to be ready for training camp.
Link to storyTennessee Titans QB Mitchell Trubisky is excited about his new organization, and he is looking forward to helping any way he can, either as a competitor or a mentor. He is being coached by offensive coordinator Brian Daboll and quarterbacks coach Shea Tierney, two guys he worked with in Buffalo. 'Super pumped (to be here),' Trubisky said. 'I had so much fun with (Daboll and Tierney) back in Buffalo a few years ago. When I had an opportunity to come back with them, it was pretty much a no-brainer. Coming here, working with (QB Cam Ward), working with Dabes and Shea, it has been a lot of fun so far, getting back in the offense. It's a great scheme.'
Link to storyMitchell Trubisky player page
Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Baker Mayfield has been 'all business' amid contract extension talks, according to head coach Todd Bowles, and Bowles said there is 'absolutely no question' that he wants Mayfield to stay with the Buccaneers long term.
Footballguys view: This is a story worth monitoring because Mayfield has been good as a Buc, but $50+ million a year good? Mayfield is 31 and if his play is declining (he had a rough second half of the season, but the whole offense did, including with his and other key players suffering injuries), then committing to him long term would be a mistake. The Bucs don't have a quarterback they have bene developing on the roster, but they did sign UDFA Jalon Daniels, who is a favorite of NFL Films legend Greg Cosell.
Baker Mayfield player page
Seattle Seahawks RB Emanuel Wilson has been the third running back in the pecking order at OTAs and minicamp.
Footballguys view: In other words, it would take first round Jadarian Price being not ready for prime time for Wilson to matter in fantasy leagues at the beginning of the season. Third down back George Holani has been running as the "1A" and is worth a late round pick across formats. Wilson is a waiver wire watch list player for now, and once Zach Charbonnet is healthy (which could be sooner than later), Wilson will fall off of the fantasy radar.
Washington Commanders TE Chig Okonkwo will be an exciting part of the offense, according to QB Jayden Daniels. 'Now he gets to go out there and show his talents on a bigger stage and a bigger role in the offense,' Daniels said.
Footballguys view: Okonkwo could become the #2 target in the offense by default because the Commanders don't have any proven wide receivers after #1 Terry McLaurin. Okonkwo is a handful after the catch and can help Jayden Daniels if he gets open in the short and intermediate zones with regularity. Okonkwo is one of the best tight ends to target in the late rounds.
Washington Commanders WR Terry McLaurin said he will move around the formation more this season. 'I can go left, right, I can go vertical because I can still run by you,' McLaurin said. 'I can stop or I could go in. Just having those type of variations in your route tree is just an unbelievable weapon to have as a receiver.'
Footballguys view: We are looking for players to get the kind of usage that Jaxon Smith-Njigba got last year - a variety of routes from a variety of spots in the offense. McLaurin qualifies as the kind of talent who can pull that off, and the Commanders don't have any other wide receivers that strike fear in the hearts of opposing defensive coordinators. McLaurin has more than enough upside to justify a pick at his fourth round ADP.
Terry McLaurin player page
Pittsburgh Steelers RB Eli Heidenreich has impressed head coach Mike McCarthy. 'He's very instinctive, has an excellent skill set,' McCarthy said. 'He's picked up the offense. His position flexibility has been fun. He's had a tremendous start.'
Footballguys view: Heidenreich compares favorably to Christian McCaffrey if you only look at their game as receivers out of the backfield. He could help on special teams and give the team another slot receiver and third down back option if he makes the team.
New York Giants WR Odell Beckham Jr. 'perhaps made the biggest impact at minicamp' with WR Malik Nabers (knee) and WR Darius Slayton (abdomen) sidelined, according to Jordan Raanan of ESPN.com.
Footballguys view: This is probably more of a sign that Darnell Mooney and third round pick Malachi Fields aren't impressing than one of Beckham putting together an unlikely comeback story this year. The Giants passing game is going to be a work in progress, but that could be good for free agent signing Isaiah Likely, who might lead the team in targets early on despite playing tight end.
Odell Beckham Jr player page
Arizona Cardinals RB James Conner (ankle, foot) should be available for the start of training camp, according to head coach Mike LaFleur.
Footballguys view: Conner is cheap at only a little over $2 million, but most of it is guaranteed. Once he is healthy enough to practice, he could be a candidate to be traded to a team that suffers an injury at running back in camp or the preseason, or otherwise isn't pleased with what they see. Washington and Seattle are both possibilities.
James Conner player page
New York Giants WR Malachi Fields could see a big role in the offense sooner rather than later. The receivers' room is a bit thin, and there is no certainty WR Malik Nabers (knee) will be able to return to start the regular season.
