Panthers | Carolina makes roster moves Sat Oct 18, 02:09 PM
Carolina Panthers C Austin Corbett (knee) was activated from the Reserve/Injured list Saturday, Oct. 18. The team also placed LB Patrick Jones II (back) on the Reserve/Injured list.
Link to storyCarolina Panthers WR Jalen Coker (quadriceps) was activated from the Reserve/Injured list Saturday, Oct. 18.
Footballguys view: He's going to make his season debut in Week 7 against the Jets. Keep him in mind if you play in a deeper league with a sizable bench. Coker is set to be the team's slot receiver, and he brings an exciting skill set to the field. Last year, Coker got onto the fantasy radar as a flex play with upside. Once back to full speed, Coker could return similar results this year. |
Carolina Panthers WR Jalen Coker (quadriceps) has been removed from the injury report and will make his season debut in Week 7's game versus the New York Jets, according to head coach Dave Canales.
Footballguys view: This will be the first time we get to see Coker this year. |
Carolina Panthers OG Damien Lewis (shoulder) is considered a game-time decision for Week 7's game versus the New York Jets, according to head coach Dave Canales. He was listed as questionable on the injury report after missing the team's two most recent practice sessions.
Link to storyCarolina Panthers TE Ja'Tavion Sanders (ankle) fully participated in practice Friday, Oct. 17, and is not on the injury report for Week 7.
Footballguys view: Sanders has hauled in 11 catches for 92 yards in three games this season this season. He has been targeted on 14 occasions, so his return, along with that of WR Jalen Coker, gives Bryce Young a more complete set of weapons to complement rookie Tetairoa McMillian. |
Carolina Panthers DE Patrick Jones II (back) did not practice all week and has been ruled out for Week 7 against the New York Jets. G Damien Lewis (shoulder) did not practice all week and is listed as questionable. DL Tershawn Wharton (toe) was limited in practice all week and is listed as questionable. C Austin Corbett (knee), WR Jalen Coker (quad), and OT Taylor Moton (elbow) practiced in full on Friday, Oct. 17, and is listed as questionable. CB Akayleb Evans (hamstring), CB Jaycee Horn (shoulder), RB Chuba Hubbard (calf), and TE Ja'Tavion Sanders (ankle) practiced in full on Friday and no longer appear on the injury report.

Updating a previous report, Carolina Panthers RB Chuba Hubbard (calf) fully participated in practice Friday, Oct. 17, and is not on the injury report for Week 7.
Footballguys view: After he compiled 473 yards from scrimmage in the two games Hubbard missed, it's hard to imagine Rico Dowdle taking a backseat this week. Reports out of Carolina suggest the Panthers have a plan in place. Our Footballguys projections have Dowdle at RB18 and leading the way against the Jets this week, with Hubbard easing back in as RB31. That said, we'll be watching for clues that better define their anticipated roles right up through Sunday's kickoff. |

Carolina Panthers WR Jalen Coker (quadriceps) fully participated in practice Friday, Oct. 17, but is listed as questionable for Week 7.
Footballguys view: Coker has been a full practice participant for two weeks as he worked his way off IR. That extensive practice time opens the door to a full workload in his 2025 regular-season debut. Remember, the team had big plans for Coker this summer. Those plans were one reason they were comfortable trading Adam Thielen to the Vikings. Coker has a pretty conservative WR67 Footballguys projection heading into Sunday's game against the Jets. |
Carolina Panthers RB Chuba Hubbard (calf) will play in Week 7, according to head coach Dave Canales.
Footballguys view: Hubbard fully participated in Friday's practice after being limited the first two days of the week. Rico Dowdle has starred in Hubbard's absence, so head coach Dave Canales will have to sort out the timeshare this weekend and beyond. Reports out of Carolina suggest there's a plan in place. Our Footballguys projections have Dowdle at RB18 and leading the way in this one, with Hubbard easing back in as RB31. That said, we'll be watching for clues that better define their anticipated roles right up through Sunday's kickoff. |

Carolina Panthers RB Chuba Hubbard (calf) was limited during practice Thursday, Oct. 16.
Footballguys view: Hubbard is limited as the Panthers are being careful with their starting back. Rico Dowdle has been amazing filling in for Hubbard, so the two are going to split time in the Panthers' backfield going forward. Hubbard is an RB3/flex option in his first game back, while Dowdle is an RB2/flex option for Fantasy GMs out there. |

Carolina Panthers TE Ja'Tavion Sanders (ankle) fully participated in practice Thursday, Oct. 16.
Link to storyCarolina Panthers WR Jalen Coker (quadriceps) fully participated in practice Thursday, Oct. 16.
Footballguys view: Fantasy GMs in need of a 'what the heck' flex could be turning to Coker. Earlier this week, Panthers HC Dave Canales said the plan is for Coker to play in Week 7 against the Jets. With a full practice on Thursday, it looks like Coker is on track. |
Carolina Panthers DE Patrick Jones II (back) and G Damien Lewis (chest) did not practice on Thursday, Oct. 16. CB Akayleb Evans (hamstring), RB Chuba Hubbard (calf), OT Taylor Moton (elbow), and DL Tershawn Wharton (toe) were limited in practice. WR Jalen Coker (quad), C Austin Corbett (knee), CB Jaycee Horn (shoulder), and TE Ja'Tavion Sanders (ankle) practiced in full.

Carolina Panthers RB Chuba Hubbard (calf) told reporters on Thursday, Oct. 16, that he expects him to play in Week 7 against the New York Jets.
Footballguys view: Rico Dowdle has been fantastic while Hubbard has been out. Now with both backs healthy, the Panthers are going to wisely use them in tandem. Hubbard is an RB3/flex option in his first game back, while Dowdle is an RB2/flex option for Fantasy GMs out there. |

Link to storyCarolina Panthers RB Chuba Hubbard (calf) was limited during practice Wednesday, Oct. 15.
Footballguys view: Hubbard could be back on the field this week for the Panthers. The last two games have been fantastic for Rico Dowdle. Reports indicate both will split time in the Panthers' backfield going forward. If Hubbard is playing, both backs are flex options with upside from a fantasy perspective. |

Carolina Panthers DL Patrick Jones II (back) did not practice on Wednesday, Oct. 15. CB Akayleb Evans (hamstring), CB Jaycee Horn (shoulder), RB Chuba Hubbard (calf), OT Taylor Moton (elbow), TE Ja'Tavion Sanders (ankle), and DL Tershawn Wharton (toe) were limited in practice. Carolina Panthers RBs Chuba Hubbard (calf) and Rico Dowdle are expected to split the work upon Hubbard's return.
Footballguys view: That sounds about right. Dowdle has been amazing with Hubbard out of action. The Panthers are trying to figure things out offensively, and their rushing attack is a huge key. From a fantasy perspective, both should be considered RB2/flex options. |

Carolina Panthers C Austin Corbett (knee) was designated to return from Injured Reserve Wednesday, Oct. 15.
Link to storyCarolina Panthers QB Bryce Young was 10-for-10 for 125 yards and three touchdowns while trailing against the Dallas Cowboys in Week 6.
Footballguys view: Young might finally have arrived. For the first time all season, he found deep shots, hitting all three of his passes of 20-plus yards with two TDs against the Cowboys. After a rough start to the season, he has five touchdown passes over the past two games, something he has done only one other time. He has been in control of Carolina's offense, as coach Dave Canales has preached. Now, he is getting results. The Panthers face the Jets in Week 7. |

Carolina Panthers WR Jalen Coker (quadriceps) has a chance to play in Week 7 depending on how he feels during practice this week, according to head coach Dave Canales.
Footballguys view: Head coach Dave Canales spoke with reporters Monday afternoon in wrapping up Sunday's 30-27 walk-off win over the Cowboys. The victory did not feature Coker, who was ruled out of the contest on Saturday due to his quad strain. Canales was asked how close the team is to activating the second-year receiver this weekend. "He's really close," Canales replied. The Panthers designated the 23-year-old to return to practice last Wednesday and listed him as a full participant throughout the week. Another week of full participation will likely be enough to get Coker activated for Week 7. |
Carolina Panthers WR Hunter Renfrow had a 7-yard reception on two targets in Week 6 against the Dallas Cowboys.

Carolina Panthers WR Xavier Legette registered two receptions for 11 yards on his two targets in Week 6 against the Dallas Cowboys.
Link to storyCarolina Panthers TE Mitchell Evans ended up with a 21-yard reception on his lone target in Week 6 against the Dallas Cowboys.
Link to storyCarolina Panthers WR Tetairoa McMillan registered three receptions for 29 yards and his first two NFL touchdowns on five targets in Week 6 against the Dallas Cowboys.
Footballguys view: The scores were the first two of McMillan's career. He didn't have a high target volume game, but still came through for fantasy teams that trusted him. McMillan might see a lot of Jets shutdown corner Sauce Gardner next week, who just blotted out Garrett Wilson and George Pickens (mostly) the last two weeks. McMillan isn't an automatic start in Week 7 if you have a strong wide receiver group. |
Carolina Panthers TE Tommy Tremble posted four receptions for 39 yards on four targets in Week 6 against the Carolina Panthers.

Carolina Panthers WR Jimmy Horn Jr. posted two receptions for 36 yards on two targets in Week 6 against the Dallas Cowboys, and he added an 11-yard rushing attempt.
Link to storyCarolina Panthers RB Trevor Etienne rushed three times for 17 yards in Week 6 against the Dallas Cowboys, and he was not targeted in the passing game.
Link to storyCarolina Panthers RB Rico Dowdle rushed 30 times for 183 yards in Week 6 against the Dallas Cowboys, while adding four receptions for 56 yards and a touchdown on five targets. Dowdle has rolled up 389 rushing yards, and 473 total scrimmage yards with two total touchdowns, in the past two games with Chuba Hubbard sidelined with a calf injury to set a new franchise record for total scrimmage yards in a two-game span.
Footballguys view: Dowdle was only 17 yards away from joining OJ Simpson, Earl Campbell, Ricky Williams, and Jay Ajayi as the only backs to post consecutive 200-yard rushing games, but that doesn't take away from his accomplishment one bit in a true revenge game. There's no way the Panthers can go back to Chuba Hubbard after Dowdle powered the team to back-to-back thrilling home wins. |
Rico Dowdle player page
Carolina Panthers QB Bryce Young completed 17-of-25 passes for 199 yards, three touchdowns and one interception in Week 6 against the Dallas Cowboys, while adding three runs for five yards.
Footballguys view: Young's fantasy showing was his best since a Week 2 garbage time feast against the Cardinals. Rico Dowdle has invigorated the offense with hard-charging intensity and Tetairoa McMillan notched the first two touchdowns of his career in this one. Young's value as a QB2/Superflex and as a bench bye/injury depth player is trending up heading into a matchup against the Jets. |

Carolina Panthers LB Trevin Wallace posted six total stops, including two of the solo variety, with a tackle for loss and a pass defensed in Week 6 against the Dallas Cowboys.
Link to storyThe Carolina Panthers have declared RB Chuba Hubbard, CB Akayleb Evans, OG Taylor Moton, TE Ja'Tavion Sanders, DT Tershawn Wharton, DT Jaden Crumedy and S Trevian Thomas inactive for Week 6.

Carolina Panthers TE Ja'Tavion Sanders (ankle) is not active for Week 6's game against the Dallas Cowboys.
Link to storyCarolina Panthers TE Ja'Tavion Sanders (ankle), who is listed as questionable, is not expected to play against the Dallas Cowboys in Week 6, according to a source.
Link to storyCarolina Panthers WR Jalen Coker (quadriceps) has been ruled out of the Week 6 game.
Link to storyCarolina Panthers WR Tetairoa McMillan faces the Dallas Cowboys in Week 6, and the Cowboys are allowing the most passing yards per game and have given up the second-most touchdown passes.
Footballguys view: McMillan is fun to watch, even though the Panthers' passing game has plenty of struggles at time. If Bryce Young can get him the rock near pay dirt, the rookie could snare his first touchdown catch in the NFL. McMillan is averaging almost nine targets per game so far this season. Fantasy GMs should consider him a high-end WR2 in Week 6. |
Carolina Panthers WR Dalevon Campbell (hamstring) was waived from the Reserve/Injured list Friday, Oct. 10.
Link to storyCarolina Panthers WR Jalen Coker (quadriceps) fully participated in practice Friday, Oct. 10, but is listed as questionable for Week 6.
Footballguys view: Coker has yet to play this year after being placed on IR in the preseason. The Panthers have done their best to patch a receiver room together in the wake of injuries to multiple starters. But with Tetairoa McMillan and Xavier Legette both carrying a clean bill of health, Coker's return could be the debut of their preferred receiver trio. |
Carolina Panthers TE Ja'Tavion Sanders (ankle) was limited during practice Friday, Oct. 10, and is listed as questionable for Week 6.
Footballguys view: Rookie tight end Mitchell Evans has been warming up, and Tommy Tremble has been near a full-time role. Sanders will work his way back into the fold and has the potential to lead the group. But none of these guys are on the fantasy radar until we start seeing some consistency. |
Carolina Panthers CB Akayleb Evans (hamstring), RB Chuba Hubbard (calf), OT Taylor Moton (elbow), DL Tershawn Wharton did not practice all week and have been ruled out for Week 6 against the Dallas Cowboys. TE Ja'Tavion Sanders (ankle) was limited in practice on Friday, Oct. 10, and is listed as questionable. CB Chau Smith-Wade (chest), CB Mike Jackson (ribs), and WR Jalen Coker (quad) practiced in full on Friday and are listed as questionable.

Carolina Panthers RB Chuba Hubbard (calf) has been ruled out for Week 6.
Footballguys view: With Hubbard officially out, Rico Dowdle is set for a revenge game against his former team. Dowdle's 234 scrimmage yards last week were the most a player has had in a single game this year. The Panthers' offensive line is strong, and the Cowboys have been vulnerable to the run. Dowdle is a plug-and-play RB2 in this matchup. |

Carolina Panthers WR Jalen Coker (quadriceps) fully participated in practice Thursday, Oct. 9.
Link to storyCarolina Panthers RB Chuba Hubbard (calf) did not participate in practice Thursday, Oct. 9.
Footballguys view: We should be looking at another missed game for Hubbard (which makes two in a row). That means Rico Dowdle, coming off a 200-yard rushing performance in Week 5, will be in line to get he bulk of the workload against his former team (Cowboys) in Week 6. We like Dowdle as an RB2 with upside (obviously) on Sunday. |
