Panthers | Rookie WR Chris Brazzell likely to miss eight weeks    Wed Jul 29, 02:30 PM

Joe Person of The Athletic reports that Panthers rookie WR Chris Brazzell suffered an LCL tear that is expected to keep him out for up to eight weeks.

Footballguys view: Brazzell, the team's third-round pick in April's draft, was injured in Wednesday's training camp practice. He went down during a 7-on-7 drill and had to be carted off the field. Head coach Dave Canales said that Brazzell was held out of a couple of earlier practices because of knee soreness, although Person reports that the injury is not believed to be related to the previous issue. The Panthers saw linebacker Nic Scourton go down with a torn ACL during practice last week, so it has been a rough start to camp on both sides of the ball for Carolina.

Panthers | Rookie WR Chris Brazzell dealing with knee issue    Wed Jul 29, 01:31 PM

Panthers WR Chris Brazzell aggravated the same left knee today that he missed a couple of recent practices for due to soreness, per HC Dave Canales.

Footballguys view: Brazzell, who was working his way into earning reps as a speedy field stretcher, is currently undergoing tests on that knee. We'll follow up as needed.

Panthers | Jaycee Horn activated from NFI    Tue Jul 28, 09:43 AM

Carolina Panthers CB Jaycee Horn (toe) was activated from the non-football injury list Tuesday, July 28. He suffered a cut on his toe while running that required stitches and has been running on the side during practices.

Footballguys view: Horn landed on the list as camp opened last week due to a cut on his foot. He worked on side fields while the rest of the Panthers practiced last week, and Tuesday's move clears him for a full slate of activities. Tuesday's practice will be the first fully padded one of the summer for the defending NFC South champions. Four Panthers remain on the team's injury lists, and offensive tackles Ikem Ekwonu and Taylor Moton are expected to remain out into the regular season.

Panthers | Jonathon Brooks showing burst    Sat Jul 25, 01:20 PM

Carolina Panthers RB Jonathon Brooks (knee) 'looks fast' during practice, according to head coach Dave Canales. 'He looks like the guy that I remember, and I'm really excited for that,' Canales said.

Footballguys view: Brooks has been getting first-team reps in training camp, and there have been no limitations on him as he comes back from another knee injury. Most of his pro career has been missed due to ACL injuries, but expect a healthy Brooks to push for the eventual starting job in Carolina. At the beginning of the season, we expect Brooks and Chuba Hubbard to work in a RBBC. Brooks has a current ADP of RB38 (8.12) in 12-team PPR leagues. Injury risk is already cooked into his draft position, and clearly the upside is there for Brooks to do more.

Panthers | Tetairoa McMillan on the field    Sat Jul 25, 01:20 PM

Carolina Panthers WR Tetairoa McMillan (foot) has been able to practice at training camp after missing time during spring activities with a foot injury.

Footballguys view: While limited in the spring, McMillan was planning on being ready for the start of training camp - which he is. He had a spectacular season as a rookie (70 catches, 1,014 yards, seven touchdowns), so Fantasy GMs are taking him at WR17 (4.01) in 12-team PPR leagues. With reports suggesting McMillan will play more 'big slot' this year, he could outperform his ADP.

Panthers | Nic Scourton to have surgery    Fri Jul 24, 06:34 PM

Carolina Panthers DE Nic Scourton (knee) will undergo surgery in the next few weeks to repair his torn anterior cruciate ligament, according to head coach Dave Canales.

Panthers | Serious injury for Nic Scourton    Fri Jul 24, 05:29 PM

Updating a previous report, Carolina Panthers DE Nic Scourton (knee) is believed to have suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament during practice Thursday, July 23, sources told NFL Network's Ian Rapoport and Cameron Wolfe. He is scheduled to receive a second opinion to confirm the injury and is expected to have surgery in a few weeks if it is confirmed.

Footballguys view: The Panthers have lost their #2 defensive end - an ascendant 2025 second round pick - in addition to being without their starting left and right tackles to open the season. One of their starting guards and starting corners are going for scans to have back issues checked out. After it felt like the team was turning things around after pushing the Rams to the brink in the wild card round of the playoffs, Carolina has a lot of adversity to overcome before most teams have even started training camp.

Panthers | Tetairoa McMillan to get more work in the slot    Thu Jul 23, 03:14 PM

Carolina Panthers WR Tetairoa McMillan is expected to play 'a lot more big slot' in 2026, according to NFL Network's Cameron Wolfe.

Footballguys view: This report indicates we could see the team double the amount of snaps McMillan had at 'big slot' last year. That could put him in the nearly 30 percent range of routes run against safeties and linebackers. McMillan has a current ADP of WR17 (4.02) and getting more 'big slot' opportunities will help him perform up to expectations.

Panthers | Jonathon Brooks will have 'no limitations'    Thu Jul 23, 03:10 PM

Carolina Panthers RB Jonathon Brooks will have 'no limitations' returning to practice.

Footballguys view: Great news for the Panthers here. Brooks is set to be in an RBBC with Chubba Hubbard, and reports from the spring indicate Brooks has looked incredible. He's going off the board near the turn at the end of the 8th round (RB39), and Brooks certainly provides upside to do more if he can stay healthy.

Carolina Panthers OT Taylor Moton (illness) was diagnosed with a blood clot last month and will start training camp on the Active/Non-Football Injury list. He will miss time during the regular season but is expected to play at some point during the 2026 season.

Footballguys view: Moton was immediately placed on blood thinners and is responding well to treatment and is being assessed daily by the team's medical staff. The Panthers signed veteran left tackle Rasheed Walker in free agency as cover for the injured Ikem Ekwonu, and used their first-round pick on Georgia tackle Monroe Freeling.

Carolina Panthers CB Jaycee Horn (foot) will start training camp on the Active/Non-Football Injury list because of a cut on his foot. He is expected to be cleared to return early in camp.

Footballguys view: Horn suffered the cut recently while running. It required stitches. During his absence, the Panthers still have veteran starter Mike Jackson and a number of young options, including fourth-round rookie Will Lee, Corey Thornton, and Chau Smith-Wade.

Panthers | Xavier Legette 'on the hot seat' this season    Tue Jul 21, 12:58 AM

Carolina Panthers WR Xavier Legette is 'on the hot seat' this season, in the opinion of The Charlotte Observer's Mike Kaye on Monday, July 20.

Footballguys view: Legette, John Metchie, and Chris Brazzell II will likely compete for the No. 3 receiver job during the offseason workouts and training camp. Legette has the size and speed to be a run-after-catch threat, but hasn't shown the ability to win downfield. Brazzell is a long, fast, flexible receiver in the mold of George Pickens, who could make a splash right away given the quality of Bryce Young's deep ball. That said, the Panthers' pass offense isn't at the level where it can support three fantasy-relevant wide receivers, so investors shouldn't dive too deep here.

Panthers | CAR not in hurry to jump market for Bryce Young extension    Wed Jul 1, 12:59 AM

Carolina Panthers QB Bryce Young is viewed as the long-term franchise quarterback in Carolina, but they are not in a rush to jump the market for an extension, which may not happen until next offseason, in the opinion of ESPN's Dan Graziano on Tuesday, June 30.

Footballguys view: The Panthers picked up Young's fifth-year option for 2027 at $25.904 million, which was a no-brainer because it means they'll be paying him a total of $31.83 million over the next two years. But Graziano contends -- with Houston seemingly in no hurry with Young's 2023 draftmate C.J. Stroud -- there's no rush to jump the market and do a Young deal without seeing more.

Panthers | Chris Brazzell II making plays    Thu Jun 25, 11:08 AM

Carolina Panthers WR Chris Brazzell II was an 'impact player' during OTAs and minicamp.

Footballguys view: With his skill set, it's no surprise that Brazzell is able to impress. In fact, he could be a player that turns heads in training cap and the preseason too. The no.83 overall pick in this draft, Brazzell brings incredible speed and size to the field. He didn't run a full route tree in college at Tennessee, but Brazell can be a big-play option for QB Bryce Young. That gives him some 'what the heck' flex appeal in deeper leagues.

Panthers | WR Chris Brazzell II looking like a potential impact player    Tue Jun 23, 01:05 PM

The Panthers got some side-eye from critics when they drafted a wide receiver in the third round, with Tetairoa McMillan, the 2025 NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year, already on the roster. But the 6-5 Brazzell, a lengthy playmaker, is making believers out of Carolina fans as an impact player in OTAs and minicamp.

Footballguys view: In this year's Rookie Draft Guide, Footballguy Jeff Bell noted the Panthers love big receivers with speed. Brazzell fits their type. McMillan is the clear top receiver, and Jalen Coker is emerging and capable as a second receiver. Brazzell signals the potential end of hope with Xavier Legette, but his speed is perfect given the current room. Brazzel is a boom-or-bust pick who is in a situation that could create a breakout.

Carolina Panthers WR Jalen Coker agreed to terms on a three-year, $35 million extension with incentives worth up to $41 million, according to his agent.

Footballguys view: Coker gave up two years of control in exchange for getting paid two years ahead of when he would enter unrestricted free agency. He is getting more guaranteed money than fellow 2024 draft class wide receivers and first round picks Brian Thomas Jr. and Xavier Worthy got on their initial contracts. Coker is the clear WR2 and one of the most underrated wide receivers in fantasy drafts right now.

Panthers | Tetairoa McMillan dealing with injury    Fri Jun 12, 05:43 PM

Carolina Panthers WR Tetairoa McMillan (foot) missed some time during the mandatory minicamp because of a foot injury but hopes to be ready for the start of training camp.

Footballguys view: McMillan said his foot is a "little sore" and he has "no concern at all". As long as he is full go for camp next month, we agree. McMillan did injure his left foot and have a procedure on it in college, but it's not clear which foot McMillan was talking about. There's no need to move McMillan down in your rankings unless he isn't participating when camp opens.
