| Footballguys view: Allen is going to be the biggest fantasy beneficiary of Alec Pierce going on injured reserve if this game is any indication. He made big plays at big times for the Colts in a hard fought win. He's probably on the waiver wire in a lot of leagues after a slow start to the season, but he should be in lineups as a WR3/Flex against the Commanders next week. |

Colts.com reports that WR Darius Slayton, signed after Alec Pierce's IR-bound heel injury, is working closely with WR coach Reggie Wayne to learn Indianapolis' offense before Week 3 against the Texans. Slayton who spent five seasons catching passes from QB Daniel Jones with the Giants, said "philosophically, I think we see the field pretty similarly, and that's something that worked well for us in the past. And I expect it to work well for us going forward." Head coach Shane Steichen said Slayton could add "juice" to the offense with his downfield speed, and Slayton noted that before Jones' injury last season, "the offense was sharp" and he expects it "to look similar this year again."
| Footballguys view: Reunited, and Fantasy GMs are hoping it feels so good. Well, they're hoping it's a little bit good for the veteran receiver. The pre-established chemistry is great, but we have to see what's left in the tank for Slayton before getting too excited about his fantasy value. We'll also see if Slayton is the player in line to fill the Alec Pierce (deep) role. |

Ryan Dodson of USAToday.com reports that Indianapolis Colts WR Alec Pierce (heel) was placed on injured reserve on Wednesday, September 23. Pierce will miss a minimum of four games. The Colts recently signed WR Darius Slayton, reuniting him with QB Daniel Jones, in response to Pierce's injury.
| Footballguys view: We'll see how Slayton works his way into the mix. Without Pierce for at least the next four weeks, the Colts turn to guys like Josh Downs, Laquon Treadwell, and Tyler Warren in the passing game. Downs could operate as their top wide receiver, while Treadwell should continue providing a deep threat to the offense. Warren is already a security-blanket tight end for Jones, but could see at least a slight uptick in targets. |

Colts wide receiver Alec Pierce is expected to miss several weeks after aggravating a left heel injury in Sunday's loss to the Kansas City Chiefs, sources told NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, and the team moved quickly to address his absence, agreeing to a deal with veteran Darius Slayton.
| Footballguys view: The injury is to the same heel that Pierce had surgically repaired in March. His recovery from that procedure stretched longer than expected, with him missing training camp and returning to practice only last month. Now, Pierce will attempt to rehab the injury rather than have surgery, Rapoport's sources said, with the hope that he could return midseason. Surgery is still on the table, but that will depend on the success of the rehab. It's likely the wideout will be placed on injured reserve while he recovers. |

The Colts' injury report on Thursday shows QB Anthony Richardson Sr. returning to full participation after being limited earlier in the week. WR Keenan Allen and LB Austin Ajiake also practiced fully on Thursday, joining DT DeForest Buckner and LB Akeem Davis-Gaither (knee) as full participants. However, WR Alec Pierce (heel) did not practice after being a full participant Wednesday, while WR Ashton Dulin (ankle), RB D.J. Giddens (knee) and DT Grover Stewart (personal matter) also sat out ahead of Sunday night's game against the Kansas City Chiefs.
| Footballguys view: Going from full practice to missing practice could be just a rest day (although that should've come on Wednesday). Let's see if he can get back out there on Friday, at least in a limited fashion. It's looking like Pierce could be a game-time decision, and being that the Colts play on Sunday night, it only further complicates things for Fantasy GMs. Pierce does say the plan is for him to be put on the field more in Week 2. Alec Pierce led the receivers with 61 yards on his four catches (six targets, while Keenan Allen led the team with six catches (for only 32 yards), and Tyler Warren caught the touchdown and two other balls for 13 yards. Josh Downs pitched in two catches for 37 yards.
| Footballguys view: The Ravens defense was tough, but the four-way split of targets and passing production is going to make this pass offense hard to predict week to week. Warren's touchdown came when the game was basically decided on an otherwise ho hum afternoon for him. Downs caught both his passes early and was barely heard from after that. It's tough to trust any Colts wide receiver next week at Kansas City. |

His recovery from an offseason ankle injury has been closely monitored throughout camp. He opened training camp on PUP and showed up with a noticeable limp and calf atrophy. He eventually returned to practice on August 27th but has not logged a full practice since. Pierce may be limited in Week 1. The good news for desperate fantasy managers is that Pierce could make his week in one play, as his role as a field stretcher leads to frequent big touchdowns. But he's a borderline WR5 in Week 1, and most fantasy managers will probably want to see that he's fully healthy before elevating him into their lineups. |

Pierce, 26, signed a four-year, $114 million deal with the Colts in March to stick with the club. He's coming off his best season, having caught 47 passes for 1,003 yards with six touchdowns in 15 games in 2025. He's being drafted as WR40 in Round 8. |
