The Lions and Falcons are each dealing with apparent hold-ins by their respective star running backs. While Jonathan Taylor is not on his first pro deal, he is in a contract year. But he's not taking the same approach with the Colts. Taylor was on the field practicing with the team on Wednesday and said after the session that he feels like an extension is on its way. "There have been some good conversations, but I have faith between my agent and the front office," Taylor said. "I would love to be a Colt for life, and I have faith that things are moving in the right direction."
| Footballguys view: Taylor signed a three-year, $42 million extension with Indianapolis midway through the 2023 season. He's No. 1 in franchise history with 69 rushing touchdowns and No. 2 in rushing yards, needing 1,629 to take over the No. 1 spot from Hall of Famer Edgerrin James. | Footballguys view: That despite the fact that Richardson's trade request, made earlier this year, remains in place. "It is. I think they're realistic and we're realistic," GM Chris Ballard said. "We're not just giving him away, not going to do that." As Profootballtalk.com points out, Ballard's comments suggest the Colts' commitment to keeping all three quarterbacks could shift if another team makes an aggressive play for the 2023 first-round pick. The absence of such a play this offseason may mean that it will take an injury elsewhere in the league for someone to offer the Colts anything that would change their mind. |

If a player remains on PUP after the cut to 53, they transfer to Reserve/PUP and will miss at least the first four games of the season. | Footballguys view: Today's news is more confirmation than revelation. Jones has spent the offseason rehabbing an Achilles injury that he suffered in Week 14 last season. A few weeks ago, the QB said he was "cleared to do everything." Then, appearing on ESPN on Sunday, Jones said he was "good to go" and "excited to get rolling." HC Shane Steichen mentioned on Saturday that Jones would be a "full participant" once camp began. Jones signed a two-year, $88 million deal with the club and hopes to regain last season's first-half form, where he and the offense were off to impressive starts. |

The Colts might be looking to lighten Taylor's workload this year, but don't expect a timeshare here. Giddens' fantasy value is limited. |

And the team didn't pay sign him to a four-year, $114 million extension in March and part with Michael Pittman Jr. in the process, for Pierce to be anything but their top downfield weapon. The question is, will he deliver? As WR32, it's not cost-prohibitive to find out. |

'I think he led the league last year in carries, but talking to him after the season, he said he felt good,' Steichen said. 'But yeah, obviously he's a hell of a player. It's hard to take him off the field when he's running so good, but getting Seth (McGowan) in the fold and DJ (Giddens) and see how those guys come along in training camp, and we'll go from there.'
| Footballguys view: He's a top-tier running back, and there's no doubt Taylor will continue as an RB1. That's what makes him one of the first few backs off the board in fantasy drafts. Even though guys like Giddens and McGowan might pick up a bit more work if/when Taylor needs a breather, we don't see it greatly impacting his workload - or his fantasy value. |

In Pierce's absence, Tyler Warren would likely be the primary target, with Josh Downs serving in a complementary role. Nick Westbrook-Ikhine is next on the depth chart in a shockingly thin receiver room. If Pierce has to miss any time, the lack of a vertical threat could cause Jonathan Taylor to see more stacked fronts. We'll get more information during training camp, but Pierce should be knocked down quite a bit in rankings from this news. |

The QB is only 175 days removed from injuring his Achilles in Week 14 last season. Last week, Jones said he "absolutely" plans on being available for Week 1, but even with the progress he's made, there are still hurdles to navigate. We'll be watching for more. |

According to ESPN.com's Stephen, QB Anthony Richardson reported to Indianapolis' voluntary offseason program on Monday after staying away for the past two weeks.
| Footballguys view: The Colts have been trying to trade 2023 No. 4 overall pick Anthony Richardson throughout the offseason. While the Colts are apparently not any closer to trading Richardson, they also have not given any indication that he will be released. So, at least for now, Richardson is back with Indianapolis. The Colts declined to pick up Richardson's fifth-year option by last week's deadline, as was widely expected. |
