Link to storyDenver Broncos QB Bo Nix said he is not sure if he will play in the first preseason game.
Footballguys view: With Nix coming off ankle surgery and having a history of ankle injuries, a cautious approach to exhibition action makes sense. As USA Today suggested, if Nix stays healthy, the Broncos could make another deep playoff run this season. To play at his best, though, the QB will continue to make plays with his legs, and his ability to avoid hits and stay on the field will be a key storyline going into the 2026 campaign.
Denver Broncos RB J.K. Dobbins (undisclosed) left practice early Monday, Aug. 10, because of an undisclosed reason.
Footballguys view: Dobbins jogged off the field into the locker room with trainers during Monday's training camp practice. Dobbins left about midway through practice and did not return, according to reporters on site. Broncos coach Sean Payton was asked about Dobbins after practice. "Soft tissue; I think he's going to be fine," Payton said. "We're just being smart with it." We'll watch for more, but Dobbins' practice participation could be impacted ahead of Friday's preseason opener against the Falcons.

Denver Broncos WR Marvin Mims (undisclosed) was limited during practice Monday, Aug. 10.
Footballguys view: Mims pulled up in discomfort while running a route on Friday, but he was on the field in pads Monday, working on the side. He appears to be on track to return soon.
Denver Broncos WR Jaylen Waddle (leg) is not participating in practice Monday, Aug. 10.
Footballguys view: Waddle left last Wednesday's practice with muscle tightness. Waddle is expected to be fine going forward, but the Broncos are clearly playing it safe. He was on the field for Monday's session, getting in mental reps and doing light running on the side.

Denver Broncos WR Jaylen Waddle (undisclosed) left practice Wednesday, Aug. 5, because of an undisclosed reason.
Footballguys view: Head coach Sean Payton told the media today that Waddle has a leg strain that will sideline him 4-5 days. As long Waddle returns to practice next week without incident, we can put this behind us, but if Waddle doesn't meet his return to practice timeline expectations or has a recurrence of this injury, we should feel less confident about his ability to stay healthy this season.

Link to storyFree-agent TE Taysom Hill (Saints) has reportedly been a topic of interest by the Denver Broncos and according to HC Sean Payton on Saturday, Aug. 1, the Broncos will explore bringing him to Denver.
Footballguys view: This was predictable after Hill said goodbye to the Saints fanbase earlier this week. His days of having fantasy relevance are probably over, but if Hill joins the Broncos, an already three-headed backfield will become more complicated to project for the upcoming season.

Link to storyDenver Broncos LB Jordan Turner to begin training camp on the Non-Football Injury List (NFI), according to a source on Sunday, July 26.
Link to storyDenver Broncos TE Evan Engram earned 40% of snaps last season, compared to 57% for fellow TE Adam Trautman, and it would be a surprise if Engram earned more time on the field than Trautman in 2026, in the opinion of Parker Gabriel of The Denver Post on Tuesday, July 21.
Footballguys view: As Footballguy Matt Waldman notes, Engram was third in targets last year, but he only scored once. And unless he generates 90-100 targets or 8-10 scores, don't expect a return to starting fantasy TE status in most formats. The timeshare with Trautman makes those numbers unlikely.

Denver Broncos QB Bo Nix (ankle) could be 100% cleared when camp opens, which is consistent with Nix's messaging over the last month about his injury, in the opinion of The Denver Post's Troy Renck on Monday, July 20.
Footballguys view: Nix enters his third NFL season after finishing inside the top-10 at the position (with QB8 and QB9 outcomes) during each of his first two campaigns. He was a very limited participant during the Broncos' offseason program while recovering from the two procedures he had on his ankle. But Nix has shown consistent progress and even been deemed ahead of schedule. The Broncos have insisted the third-year man will be ready, and Nix continues to show signs they were right.
Denver Broncos RB Jonah Coleman reportedly looked ready for instant snaps in OTAs and minicamp this summer, and could spell J.K. Dobbins for short-yardage touches in the early going and pick up plenty of slack if anyone in the room misses time, in the opinion of The Denver Post's Luca Evans on Tuesday, July 14.
Footballguys view: It wouldn't be a surprise if the hard-nosed, decisive Coleman, who runs with urgency between the tackles, earns a contributing role. But from a fantasy perspective, the rookie opens the year as insurance for the oft-injured J.K. Dobbins after RJ Harvey came up short as a runner when Dobbins went down last year. But Coleman will be a fantasy afterthought if Dobbins remains in the locked and upright position all season long. The rookie's RB50 ADP reflects that likelihood.

Denver Broncos RB Tyler Badie and RB Jaleel McLaughlin are battling for one spot on the team's depth chart, according to the Denver Post's Luca Evans.
Footballguys view: Denver generally keeps four running backs on their active roster. With J.K. Dobbins, RJ Harvey, and rookie Jonah Coleman all but certain to be at the top of the depth chart, Badie and McLaughlin will be battling for that final opening. The winner of that competition will only be fantasy relevant if there are injuries ahead of him.
Denver Broncos WR Courtland Sutton could benefit from more one-on-one matchups thanks to the addition of WR Jaylen Waddle, while TE Evan Engram also is in the mix to stretch defenses. 'Courtland is an elite playmaker, so anytime you have a playmaker on the other side of you, it just makes it easy,' Waddle said. 'It's someone that the defense has to be looking for, and vice versa.'
Footballguys view: Sutton will undoubtedly remain one of Bo Nix's go-to targets, but with target competition from Waddle. While that's not ideal, Sutton, who finished as WR14 last year and WR11 the year before, has fallen to WR36, being drafted in the sixth round (75th overall). At the very least, Sutton will continue to be a major presence in the red zone and as a chain-mover on third downs for the franchise. Those have been valuable mainstays for him throughout his career and could allow him to outperform ADP this year.

Denver Broncos TE Evan Engram could be a beneficiary from the addition of WR Jaylen Waddle, helping to boost his production, as defenses key on two top-tier wideouts in Waddle and WR Courtland Sutton.
Footballguys view: While that's possible, fantasy investors have low expectations after Engram's disappearing act last year. Look for a similar outcome this -- albeit with potentially higher efficiencies in the red zone with the addition of Waddle, creating more spacing in compressed areas. Still, as Footballguy Matt Waldman suggests, unless Engram generates 90-100 targets or 8-10 scores, we shouldn't expect a return to starting fantasy TE status in most formats. His TE35 ADP reflects that outlook.

Denver Broncos WR Jaylen Waddle has impressed head coach Sean Payton and the coaching staff since being acquired from the Miami Dolphins. 'He's someone who picks things up real quick,' Payton said in June. 'You can just feel his instincts, his quickness and his ability to not only run fast but stop fast. So, he's doing well.' Payton added that catering to each receiver's unique skill set will be critical in 2026.
Footballguys view: Waddle has been one of the league's most explosive playmakers over the last several seasons, and his 15.0 yards per reception since 2022 are the third-most in the NFL. He also led the league with 18.1 yards per reception in 2022. QB Bo Nix believes Waddle's speed and efficiency could unlock new opportunities for Denver's offense. "There's a level of explosiveness that a guy like that adds," Nix explained. "You just can't replace speed. That's just what he brings to the table." With a WR23 APD, Waddle could be a significant value.

Denver Broncos DL Zach Allen said Sunday, July 12, he expects the team to break the all-time team sack record after falling short in 2025. The team had 68 sacks in 2025, four behind the Chicago Bears (1984) NFL record of 72. The Bears also accomplished the feat in 16 games. 'We've got a lot of good guys and that's going to create a lot of opportunities for people. We came close to the sack record last year and we fully expect to break it this year,' Allen said.

Denver Broncos DT Eyioma Uwazurike has a chance to start, with DT John Franklin-Myers moving on to the Tennessee Titans in free agency. 'He's doing well, practicing well. He has his weight right where it needs to be,' head coach Sean Payton said. 'He's one of those guys [who] I think he is competing for more time.' Uwazurike is battling DTs Sai'vion Jones and Tyler Onyedim for more playing time heading into training camp and the preseason, and somebody will emerge as the starter.
Link to storyDenver Broncos CB Patrick Surtain II was named the top cornerback in the league by league executives, coaches and scouts. 'It's not close,' a seasoned NFL coordinator said. 'A generational player. Watch the AFC Championship Game. He was the best player on the field by far.'
Link to storyDenver Broncos CB Ja'Quan McMillian signed a one-year, $5.77 million contract on Tuesday, July 7.
Link to storyDenver Broncos QB Bo Nix led the NFL with seven game-winning drives during the 2025 regular season.
Footballguys view: An ankle injury ended Nix's season late in Denver's Divisional Round playoff win. He returned to the practice field for mandatory minicamp in June and told reporters that doctors deemed his ankle "as good as new." Coach Sean Payton said on multiple occasions during the offseason program that Nix should be a full participant by the start of training camp. Both Nix and Payton emphasized that the injury would not impact Nix's mobility. If he can continue to play at that high level, Nix could lead the Broncos to another postseason run -- and be a productive fantasy QB.
Denver Broncos TE Caleb Lohner (undisclosed), OG Nick Gargiulo (knee) and OG Ben Powers (undisclosed) may be ready to participate at the start of training camp.
