Packers | Jordan Love playing in preseason opener is 'current plan'    Tue Aug 11, 04:44 PM

Green Bay Packers QB Jordan Love playing in the Packers' preseason opener against the Steelers is the current plan, according to HC Matt LaFleur on Tuesday, Aug. 11.

Footballguys view: Love played the preseason opener in each of the last three seasons, so it's no real surprise the team will take the same approach this summer. LaFleur noted that he reserves the right to change his mind, but he also noted why he likes "getting your process down" ahead of the regular season. The Packers will be in Pittsburgh on Thursday, and they'll be back on the road against the Broncos for their second preseason game. Their only home game of the summer will be on August 28 against the Cardinals.

Packers | Josh Jacobs to miss at least another week    Tue Aug 11, 01:24 PM

Green Bay Packers RB Josh Jacobs (groin) will miss 'at least' another week of practice, according to head coach Matt LaFleur.

Footballguys view: Jacobs dealt with numerous injuries last season, finishing with 929 yards rushing and 13 touchdowns in 15 games (all starts). He also had 36 receptions for 282 yards and a score. MarShawn Lloyd has been a bright spot in training camp, LaFleur said, and is likely to work with the No. 1 offense in the preseason opener against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Thursday. We'll have more on Jacobs as further details come to light.

Packers | Matthew Golden back at practice    Tue Aug 11, 01:21 PM

Green Bay Packers WR Matthew Golden (toe) returned to practice on Tuesday, Aug. 11.

Footballguys view: While there were big expectations for Golden in his rookie year, he didn't get as many targets as expected. In 2025, Golden had 29 receptions for 361 yards. As Packers Talk suggested, this year there is more hope for Golden. The former first-round pick has already entrenched himself as one of the three starting WRs. He worked with the first team upon return Tuesday. Most likely, Golden will start as one of the Packers' outside receivers. He's being drafted as WR48. There's room for upside there.

Packers | Javon Hargrave makes camp debut    Sun Aug 9, 05:44 PM

Green Bay Packers DL Javon Hargrave (knee) was on the practice field Sunday, Aug. 9, for the first time at training camp. He missed the final part of the team's offseason program due to 'a little flare up', and he started camp on the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list. He did individual drills Sunday. 'Going to meetings and not being able to watch yourself is just a different feeling,' Hargrave said. 'It was just good to be out there to do something.'

Packers | Christopher Brooks back at practice    Sun Aug 9, 01:45 PM

Green Bay Packers RB Christopher Brooks (hamstring) was able to take part in an indoor closed practice Sunday, Aug. 9. He was practicing for the first time at training camp after starting on the non-football injury (NFI) list due to a hamstring injury.

Footballguys view: Brooks had a chance to seize the backup RB job behind Josh Jacobs after the team let Emanuel Wilson walk as a restricted free agent, but 2024 third round pick MarShawn Lloyd finally had a healthy offseason after seeing the Meyer Institute of Sport and learning how his recovery from a 2020 ACL tear had him overcompensating still, which caused a myriad of injuries. Lloyd is the back to target late in drafts behind Jacobs, who is dealing with a minor groin issue.

Green Bay Packers LB Edgerrin Cooper (foot), LB Zaire Franklin (personal), CB Marlon Jones (undisclosed) and TE Josh Whyle (neck) are not taking part in an indoor closed practice Sunday, Aug. 9.   Packers | Matthew Golden nursing toe injury    Sun Aug 9, 01:36 PM

Green Bay Packers WR Matthew Golden (toe) did not take part in a closed indoor practice Sunday, Aug. 9, due to a toe injury. Head coach Matt LaFleur said that the injury is not a long-term concern.

Footballguys view: Of this and Jayden Reed's ankle injury, this might be slightly more worrisome because Golden's game is more predicated on speed, and toe issues can keep a receiver from being able to really open up the throttle. We will still trust coach LaFleur that this is not something to worry about re: Golden's outlook this season as long as he's back at practice soon.

Packers | Jayden Reed sits to rest ankle    Sun Aug 9, 01:33 PM

Green Bay Packers WR Jayden Reed (ankle) did not at an indoor closed practice Sunday, Aug. 9, due to an ankle injury. Head coach Matt LaFleur said that the injury is not a long-term concern.

Footballguys view: Matthew Golden also has a toe issue, so the Packers wide receivers are a little banged up right now. As long as Reed and Golden are back at practice soon, we will just chalk this up to normal camp wear and tear as players round into shape.

Packers | Josh Jacobs misses practice    Thu Aug 6, 02:26 PM

Green Bay Packers RB Josh Jacobs (groin) did not practice on Thursday, Aug. 6. The injury isn't considered to be long-term.

Footballguys view: It's not a serious injury, but 2024 third round pick MarShawn Lloyd has had an impressive camp - and more importantly stayed healthy so far after two injury-riddled seasons in the NFL. Jacobs could have more company in the backfield than he has in the past, and it's fair to wonder if he is wearing down after logging at least 260 touches in each of the first seven years of his career.

Packers | Matthew Golden to fill Romeo Doubs' role in 2026    Thu Aug 6, 12:08 AM

Green Bay Packers WR Matthew Golden is set to 'step cleanly' into the role that current New England Patriots WR Romeo Doubs filled for the Packers last season, according to ESPN's Ben Solak, who notes that with Doubs and Philadelphia Eagles WR Dontayvion Wicks gone, there are 131 targets that are available to be filled this year.

Footballguys view: Golden came on late last year, and he has the speed, toughness, and ball skills to a quality downfield target to complement Christian Watson's speed and Jayden Reed's ability to get open from the slot and add yards after the catch. Golden could be a big play threat if he develops and the Packers offensive line gels, but don't let this item scare you off of Reed, who already has proven that he can be a solid WR3/Flex even if he's not always on the field in two wide receiver sets.

Packers | Micah Parsons 'back to running'    Tue Aug 4, 04:16 PM

Green Bay Packers DL Micah Parsons (knee) is reportedly back to running and is hoping to start making cuts on his knee in the next six weeks, according to Parsons on Tuesday, Aug. 4.

Footballguys view: It remains unclear when Parsons will be back on the field. The Packers know his long-term value to the team is greater than what a few early-season games are worth, so everyone should be on board with Parsons getting as much time as needed to feel like he can be the defensive force that the Packers need him to be this season. We'll continue to watch for more.

Packers | Jayden Reed the No. 2 receiver?    Mon Aug 3, 04:42 PM

Green Bay Packers WR Jayden Reed worked alongside WR Christian Watson in two-receiver sets on Sunday, Aug. 2.

Footballguys view: We also had Jordan Love saying Matthew Golden will be the "X" receiver, which would imply that he could get in some two wide receiver sets with Watson, who will presumably work as the "Z" receiver. Reed should get more snaps and targets with Romeo Doubs gone to New England, but just how much more - and how much value Golden could have this year - will depend on who is on the field in two wide receiver sets.

Packers | Two dealing with hamstring injuries    Mon Aug 3, 01:08 PM

Packers | Tucker Kraft possible for joint practice    Sun Aug 2, 01:13 PM

Green Bay Packers TE Tucker Kraft (knee) has a chance to participate in the joint practice with the Arizona Cardinals later this month if he does not suffer any setbacks, according to head coach Matt LaFleur.

Footballguys view: In other words, don't expect to see Kraft do a lot this summer even though he should be ready for the season opener at Minnesota. It will take a bit of a leap of faith to start him in his first game coming off of ACL surgery, so if you're not comfortable with that, pay close attention to your other tight end's Week 1 matchup to manage the early season risk in Kraft's fantasy profile.

Packers | Tucker Kraft ready to go    Fri Jul 31, 11:01 AM

Green Bay Packers TE Tucker Kraft (knee) was activated from the Physically Unable to Perform list Friday, July 31, and will practice.

Footballguys view: Kraft's stay on the PUP was short. He does not rely on explosive movements as a route runner or otherwise need to be at true full speed to harvest most of the fantasy value he can create. Kraft also has a warrior mentality on the field, so he should have no problem with the psychological side of returning from a serious injury. He was the #1 tight end in PPR leagues when he went down, so Kraft could end up being a great value going off of the board as TE5 in the seventh round in the latest Footballguys Consensus ADP.

Packers | Neck injury for Luke Musgrave    Wed Jul 29, 04:22 PM

Green Bay Packers TE Luke Musgrave (neck) is on the Active/Physically Unable to Perform list because of neck injury, and the team will be cautious with his return, according to general manager Brian Gutekunst.

Footballguys view: As CBSSports.com suggests, if Musgrave is able to return to the practice field in short order, he may benefit from increased reps as Tucker Kraft (ACL), who is also on the active/PUP list, progresses in his own recovery. That said, Kraft expects to resume practicing soon and to be on the field for Week 1. His presence would obviously limit Musgrave's opportunities.

Packers | Tucker Kraft expects to begin practicing very soon    Wed Jul 29, 03:50 PM

Packers General Manager Brian Gutekunst said earlier Wednesday that tight end Tucker Kraft will return "sooner rather than later." Kraft, who is on the active/physically unable to perform list, echoed that later Wednesday. Kraft said he expects to begin practicing "very soon," Ryan Wood of PackersNews.com reports.

Footballguys view: Kraft tore the ACL in his right knee in a Nov. 2 game against the Panthers. He underwent surgery later that month. The season opener on Sept. 13 is still 46 days away, which is why Gutekunst says Kraft's participation in Week 1 is "very much a possibility." Kraft caught 32 passes for 489 yards and six touchdowns in the eight games last season before his injury. Based on Kraft's TE5 ADP, fantasy investors are buying the early return.

Packers | Micah Parsons expected to miss 'the first month and a half'    Tue Jul 28, 02:06 PM

Green Bay Packers DL Micah Parsons is expected to miss 'the first month and a half of the season,' according to The Athletic's Matt Schneidman.

Footballguys view: Schneidman believes Parsons ' return in Week 6 is the best-case scenario. Nine months of no football gives him a practice return of Week 4 prep and a couple of weeks to ramp up. "Never doubt a guy with his physical gifts," Schneidman said, "but we also don't know how the rest of his rehab will go." Stay tuned.

The Athletic's Matt Schneidman, appearing on the Pat McAfee Show, reported: "Tucker Kraft told us that he expects to play in Week 1 against the Minnesota Vikings."

Footballguys view: Although he opened camp on the Physically Unable to Perform list, Kraft has been targeting a Week 1 return from the torn ACL he suffered last season. We'll continue to monitor that. Kraft can be activated from the PUP list at any time. In addition to being ready to play, Schneidman told viewers he wouldn't be surprised if Kraft becomes the "highest paid tight end in the league in the next couple of weeks."

Packers | Chris Brooks starts camp on NFI list    Tue Jul 28, 12:31 AM

Green Bay Packers RB Chris Brooks (undisclosed) was placed on the Active/Non-Football Injury list Monday, July 27.

Footballguys view: The NFI list is for players who are injured away from team activities. Brooks was likely injured at some point outside the team's offseason workout program, reported among the team's injured players on Monday and failed his physical. Unless he can come off the NFI list before Wednesday morning, Brooks will miss the team's first training camp practice. Brooks signed a two-year deal to return to the Packers this offseason. A versatile running back who can catch and block, Brooks is likely to be a top backup behind Josh Jacobs in 2026.
