Houston Texans WR Tank Dell caught five passes for 145 yards and one touchdown against the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 3. He was targeted seven times during the game.
Footballguys view: Dell reeled in two deep balls, one inside the five, and one long score that iced the game. He shouldn't be on any waiver wires, and against the Steelers next week, he should probably be in lineups. Dell has a chance to be the most valuable rookie receiver in redraft leagues if this connection with fellow rookie C.J. Stroud persists. |
Houston Texans RB Dameon Pierce rushed for 31 yards and one touchdown on 14 carries against the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 3. He also caught three passes for 28 yards during the game.
Footballguys view: Pierce's touchdown was set up by a deep ball to Tank Fell inside the five, so if it wasn't for that, it would have been another dud for him, even in a comfortable win by the Texans. The Jaguars run defense deserves some recognition, and Pierce's value is still trending up after his team showed themselves to be much more competitive than expected. Consider him a flex play against the Steelers next week. |
Houston Texans RB Devin Singletary rushed for 41 yards on nine carries against the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 3.

Houston Texans QB C.J. Stroud went 20-for-30 for 280 yards and two touchdowns against the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 3. He also rushed for 14 yards on three carries during the game.
Footballguys view: Stroud didn't have to air it out because the Texans defense and special teams helped them lead for almost the entire game. He was still a good fantasy play and helped shut the door on the Jaguars with deep passing to fellow rookie Tank Dell. Stroud is shaping up as one of the best late round quarterback picks. He'll be tested by the Steelers pass rush next week. |
The Houston Texans have declared RB Dare Ogunbowale, S Jalen Pitre, LB Denzel Perryman, LB Derek Rivers, OT Laremy Tunsil, CB Tavierre Thomas and QB Case Keenum inactive for Week 3.

Houston Texans QB C.J. Stroud (shoulder) is expected to be on a week-to-week 'arm management program' for the rest of the season, according to offensive coordinator Bobby Slowik.'I think it's always like any time you have a starting quarterback that's going to play all year, you always have an arm management program and it's kind of what best fits the individual, you know? It may be some days he's limited on throws, it may be some days he's not limited on throws, but he's limited on other stuff that's not team-period related. And that is kind of a week-to-week thing and it's an individual thing as we go through the year. So he's always going to be on an arm maintenance program every quarterback is it's just what we're doing that specific week,' Slowik told the team's website.
Footballguys view: Stroud has been throwing a lot because his team has been down big for most of the season, but it sounds like we should temper our enthusiasm about him being a garbage time fantasy king fueling the value of Nico Collins and Tank Dell. If the defense (which just lost its best corner for 6-8 weeks) doesn't improve, the Texans might not have a choice but to let Stroud air it out and hope his arm holds up. |
Updating previous reports, Houston Texans CB Derek Stingley Jr. (hamstring) is expected to miss six to eight weeks and go on IR.

Houston Texans WR Robert Woods (non-injury) was limited during practice Wednesday, Sept. 20.
Footballguys view: Woods is a seasoned veteran. This is just a 'rest' Wednesday for him. He'll be out there against the Jaguars in Week 3, and we like him as a deep flex play for Fantasy GMs. |
