Dolphins | Tutu Atwell poised for big role? Wed Jun 3, 09:50 PM
Miami Dolphins WR Tutu Atwell 'appears to be more than just a deep-ball threat' based on his performance at minicamp, according to Marcel Louis-Jacques of ESPN.com.

Miami Dolphins QB Malik Willis delivered some 'highlight' throws and displayed his arm strength during minicamp Wednesday, June 3.
Link to storyMiami Dolphins first-round draft choice CB Christopher Johnson agreed to terms on a four-year contract with the Dolphins Wednesday, June 3, according to a source. Financial terms were not disclosed, but the deal includes a fifth-year option.
Link to storyMiami Dolphins first-round draft choice OG Kadyn Proctor signed a four-year contract with the Dolphins Wednesday, June 3. Financial terms were not disclosed but the deal includes a fifth-year option.
Link to storyMiami Dolphins RB De'Von Achane (shoulder) will only participate in individual drills during the mandatory minicamp this week, according to head coach Jeff Hafley.
Footballguys view: Achane had cleanup surgery on his shoulder after the season and should be ready for training camp, so going easy on him at this point makes sense. The Dolphins signed Achane to a four-year, $64 million contract extension this month. It's unlikely they would have made that commitment if they weren't confident in his long-term health, so he should be moving full speed ahead soon enough. We'll continue to monitor this situation.
Miami Dolphins DT Zach Sieler (undisclosed) is not participating in the mandatory minicamp because of a minor injury, according to head coach Jeff Hafley.
Link to storyMiami Dolphins second-round draft choice LB Jacob Rodriguez, fourth-round draft choice LB Trey Moore, fourth-round draft choice LB Kyle Louis, sixth-round draft choice OG DJ Campbell and seventh-round draft choice DE Max Llewellyn signed four-year contracts with the Dolphins Tuesday, June 2. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Link to storyMiami Dolphins third-round draft choice TE Will Kacmarek signed a four-year contract with the Dolphins Tuesday, June 2. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Link to storyMiami Dolphins third-round draft choice WR Caleb Douglas signed a four-year contract with the Dolphins Tuesday, June 2. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Footballguys view: As noted in the 2026 Footballguys Rookie Guide, Douglas brings length and fluidity, with the versatility to play outside and stretch the field or inside as a big slot. Douglas is underrated in the 2026 class and has traits that could round out most receiver rooms. Dynasty managers in rookie drafts should consider the early offensive opportunity in Miami, even if you don't like the player.
Miami Dolphins fifth-round draft choice WR Kevin Coleman Jr. signed a four-year contract with the Dolphins Tuesday, June 2. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Footballguys view: According to Footballguy Sigmund Bloom, Coleman projects as the most reliable wide receiver in a low-volume pass offense, which isn't worth chasing in rookie drafts. But given the dearth of high-end talent currently on the roster, Coleman is worth rostering in deep dynasty leagues.
Miami Dolphins third-round draft choice WR Chris Bell signed a four-year contract with the Dolphins Tuesday, June 2. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Footballguys view: As Footballguy Sigmund Bloom recently suggested, Bell landed in the perfect spot. The Dolphins are in rebuilding mode and won't rush him back from his 2025 ACL tear. When Bell is ready to play, his strengths will mesh well with Malik Willis'. Once he's ready, Bell will compete with Malik Washington, Jalen Tolbert, and Tutu Atwell, along with rookies Caleb Douglas and Kevin Coleman, for playing time. Bell is an eventual WR1 candidate for Miami.
Miami Dolphins S Jordan Colbert was waived by the Dolphins, according to a source on Tuesday, June 2.
Link to storyFree agent wide receiver Jalen Reagor (Chargers) signed with the Miami Dolphins on Tuesday, June 2. No terms of the deal were disclosed.
Footballguys view: Reagor is best known for being taken over Justin Jefferson by the Eagles in the 2020 draft. He was traded to the Vikings after only two years in Philadelphia and hasn't caught more than 10 passes in a season since then. Last year, Reagor was briefly on the Chargers practice squad. Normally, we'd say that he's unlikely to make the roster, but given the state of the Dolphins depth chart at wide receiver, you never know.

Miami Dolphins QB Malik Willis is working on building chemistry with the team's wide receivers in organized team activities, according to head coach Jeff Hafley.
Footballguys view: "It's going to take a lot of reps, just like it would with any quarterback and wide receiver group," Hafley said of the situation. "It's going to take time [to find] the rhythm." Asked if any wideout stood out in their work with Willis, Hafley singled out Malik Washington and Jalen Tolbert. Still, the bigger picture issue is this: The Dolphins need Willis to play at a high level for any of this to work -- and for fantasy investors to cash in on the QB's rushing upside. We'll be watching his progress closely this summer.
Miami Dolphins WR Malik Washington has been praised for his ability to learn and execute the offense, and he has seemingly grasped the new playbook faster than any of his teammates. He has emerged as a favorite target of new QB Malik Willis, but he still needs to step out of the slot and into a split end or flanker role to see the field more consistently.
Footballguys view: At this time last year, Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle were Miami's top receivers. Now, with both gone, there's a question about who will step up. The most likely candidates are Washington, former Cowboy Jalen Tolbert, and ex-Rams speedster Tutu Atwell. None of the trio has ever hit the 615-yard mark in a single season. Last year, they combined for 712 yards, and Washington led the way with a career-high 317 yards. While rookies Caleb Douglas and Chris Bell are also in the picture, we expect the veterans -- led by Washington -- to be the primary weapons.
Miami Dolphins TE Greg Dulcich was considered one of the top performers at organized team activities (OTAs), and he has seemingly built an early rapport with new QB Malik Willis. Still, he needs to work to become a reliable run blocker and pass protector, also known as in-line duties. The team drafted TE Will Kacmarek for in-line duties, and he has shown some good hands early on.
Footballguys view: After parting ways with Tyreek Hill and trading Jaylen Waddle, the Dolphins signed a few free-agent wide receivers, as well as drafted a trio at the position. Yet when looking for who could be a major option for Willis in 2025, a top candidate could be Dulcich. At the very least, Dulcich has the inside track on the starting job in an offense without much in the way of proven receiving assets. Still, the former Bronco is best viewed as a late flier or potential waiver-wire add once the season opens.
Miami Dolphins PKs Zane Gonzalez and Riley Patterson are vying for the starting placekicker job.
Footballguys view: Patterson hit 93.1 percent (27-of-29) of his field-goal attempts, a new single-season franchise record. He was re-signed to the NFL minimum, and the team brought in the journeyman Gonzalez to compete. It's a battle we'll monitor through training camp.

Miami Dolphins DBs Zayne Anderson, a special teams contributor with a history with new head coach Jeff Hafley, is battling Omar Brown, Lonnie Johnson Jr., Louis Moore and Michael Taaffe for a prominent role at safety, opposite presumed free safety starter Dante Trader Jr.

Miami Dolphins S Dante Trader Jr. appears to be the leading candidate for the free safety role due to the experience he gained in the 2025 season, as well as improvements he has made to his body and his intellect in the offseason.

Free agent RB Zamir White (Raiders) worked out for the Miami Dolphins on Thursday, May 28.
Link to storyMiami Dolphins OT Austin Jackson (foot) had an additional surgery on his foot during the offseason, according to head coach Jeff Hafley.
Link to storyMiami Dolphins QB Quinn Ewers was the 'best quarterback' during OTAs Wednesday, May 27, according to Omar Kelly of The Miami Herald.
Link to storyMiami Dolphins WR Chris Bell (knee) will be able to do some running during offseason workouts but there is no timetable for his return to the lineup, according to head coach Jeff Hafley.
Footballguys view: As Footballguy Sigmund Bloom noted, Bell fell a little farther than some expected, but he landed in the perfect spot. The Dolphins are in rebuilding mode and won't rush him back from his 2025 ACL tear. When Bell is ready to play, his strengths as a runaway train on crossing patterns and a big ball winner on the outside fit with Malik Willis's strengths. Once he's ready, Bell will compete with Malik Washington, Jalen Tolbert, and Tutu Atwell, along with rookies Caleb Douglas and Kevin Coleman, for playing time. Bell is an eventual WR1 candidate for Miami.
Miami Dolphins RB De'Von Achane (shoulder) is doing rehab work with trainers at organized team activities. Achane had cleanup surgery on his shoulder after the season and should be ready for training camp.
Footballguys view: Achane missed the final game of the 2025 season because of the injury, and head coach Jeff Hafley said the team will be cautious as they head toward training camp. "You'll see him out there doing some drills and doing some running around," Hafley said. "You will not see him in full team drills." As Profootballtalk.com's Josh Alper noted, the Dolphins signed Achane to a four-year, $64 million contract extension this month. It's unlikely they would have made that commitment if they weren't confident in his long-term health, so Achane should be moving full speed ahead soon enough.
Miami Dolphins QB Malik Willis has been told to focus on learning the offensive system and can work on becoming a team leader later, according to head coach Jeff Hafley.
Footballguys view: The Dolphins GM has said that they gave Willis a three-year deal because they want to build a team around him. This is consistent with that approach- namely a long term commitment to Willis, as opposed to a one-year "prove it" evaluation timeframe. Willis has more value in superflex dynasty leagues than the fantasy community is assigning to him.
Miami Dolphins OG Jonah Savaiinaea will play right guard in 2026, after spending much of his rookie season at left guard, according to new offensive line coach Zach Yenser. Savaiinaea spent the bulk of his playing time at the University of Arizona lining up at right guard, right tackle and left tackle. He will compete against OGs Jamaree Salyer and DJ Campbell for the starting job.
Footballguys view: Savaiinaea was one of the worst offensive linemen in the league last year by some measures. If they can get improvement at his spot, either from him or someone who beats him out, along with an instant impact from #12 pick Kaydn Proctor, the Dolphins run first offense could have more success than most envision - which isn't much.
Free-agent RB Carlos Washington Jr. (Falcons) signed with the Miami Dolphins Thursday, May 21. Terms of the contract were not disclosed. The team also waived TE Jalin Conyers.
Footballguys view: Washington spent the last three years on the Falcons practice squad. He's a versatile back who has a chance to make the Dolphins as their fourth running back behind De'Von Achane, Jaylen Wright, and Ollie Gordon II after priority UDFA signing Le'Veon Moss retired shortly following Miami signing him when he went undrafted this year.
Free-agent WR Noah Short (Buccaneers) is working out for the Miami Dolphins Wednesday, May 20, according to a source.
Link to storyFree-agent RB Carlos Washington Jr. (Falcons) is working out for the Miami Dolphins Wednesday, May 20, according to a source.
Link to storyMiami Dolphins RB De'Von Achane reported to organized team activities Tuesday, May 19.
Footballguys view: The Dolphins' new brass made a statement by rewarding Achane with a four-year, $64 million contract extension last week. Achane, who led the league with 5.7 yards per carry in 2025, has been around the building throughout the offseason, head coach Jeff Hafley said. "It's not like he just showed up after he signed his contract," Hafley said. "He's a great player, and I'm really glad we have him." Achane finished 2025 with 1,350 rushing yards with eight touchdowns, plus 67 receptions for 488 yards with four TDs. Expect to pay a first-round price to secure his services.
Former Green Bay Packers DE James Ester was claimed off waivers by the Miami Dolphins Thursday, May 14.
Link to storyThe Dolphins and Pro Bowl RB De'Von Achane have agreed to a four-year extension worth $68 million, making him the NFL's third-highest-paid running back at $17 million per year with $32 million guaranteed, multiple sources told NFL insider Jordan Schultz.
Footballguys view: GM Jon-Eric Sullivan and coach Jeff Hafley have insisted that Achane is a building block for the future. This investment proves it. Expect the team to continue relying on Achane to handle the same high-volume role the previous regime did. The 2023 third-round pick has scored either 11 or 12 touchdowns in each of his three seasons. He posted a career-high 1,838 scrimmage yards in 2025. Achane has also finished in the top five among backs in targets and receiving yards in each of the past two years, and his Footballguys RB6 projection reflects all of that.
Miami Dolphins RB De'Von Achane reportedly agreed to terms on a four-year contract extension worth $68 million - including $32 million guaranteed - to remain with the team on Wednesday, May 13.
Link to storyMiami Dolphins RB Le'Veon Moss was placed on the reserve/retired list on Tuesday, May 12.
Link to storyUndrafted free-agent FB DJ Herman (San Diego State) signed with the Miami Dolphins Monday, May 11. Terms of the contract were not disclosed.
Link to storyUpdating previous reports, undrafted free-agent QB Mark Gronowski (Iowa), RB Anthony Hankerson (Oregon State), WR Donaven McCulley (Michigan) and RB Le'Veon Moss (Texas A&M) officially signed with the Miami Dolphins Friday, May 8. Terms of the contracts were not disclosed.
Footballguys view: Moss is a power back and the only true pile pusher on the Dolphins roster. We'll see if he can overtake 2025 sixth round pick Ollie Gordon, who didn't make much of an impact when he got on the field as a rookie.
Miami Dolphins CB Isaiah Johnson, TE Zack Kuntz, CB Jason Maitre, DE Derrick McLendon, LB K.C. Ossai and P Seth Vernon were waived Monday, May 4. The Dolphins also released LS Taybor Pepper.

Miami Dolphins WR Chris Bell (knee) is a candidate to start the 2026 season on either the Reserve/Injured list or the Physically Unable to Perform list, in the opinion of DolphinsWire's Jason Sarney.
Footballguys view: Bell tore his ACL in late November last year. Before the injury, he was projected by some to be a first-round pick. Because of his injury, 17 receivers were taken ahead of him. As SBNation reported, Bell plans to use that as motivation. "[The injury] had me frustrated [during the draft], just knowing that I was better than some of the guys that went off the board [ahead of me]," he said. Bell is just four and a half months out of surgery right now. It might not be this year, but he could have a high ceiling once healthy.
Free-agent WR Jauan Jennings (49ers) has been receiving interest from the Miami Dolphins this offseason, but the Dolphins to not have the salary cap space to sign him at this point, according to a source.
Footballguys view: The Dolphins, who traded Jaylen Waddle and released Tyreek Hill and Nick Westbrook-Ikhine, have been adding wideouts on the cheap since. They signed Jalen Tolbert and Tutu Atwell in the first wave of free agency, then selected three -- Caleb Douglas, Chris Bell, and Kevin Coleman Jr. -- in last week's NFL Draft. While it's a reach financially, if he lands in Miami, Jennings, who caught a career-high nine touchdowns with the Niners last season, would likely be the team's top wideout.
