Minnesota Vikings QB J.J. McCarthy (concussion) fully participated in practice Friday, Dec. 5, and is not on the injury report for Week 14.
Footballguys view: There's no way to sugarcoat it: McCarthy has been bad this year. However, the Commanders are one of the league's worst pass defenses. McCarthy doesn't belong anywhere near a starting lineup this week, but fantasy managers desperate for a quarterback might want to stash him before his schedule opens up down the stretch.
Minnesota Vikings RB Aaron Jones (shoulder) was limited during practice Friday, Dec. 5, but is not on the injury report for Week 14.
Footballguys view: Jones has played through this injury for a few weeks now and clearly aggravated it last week. With Jones expected to be active this week, he can be relied on as a risky RB2. Jordan Mason and Zavier Scott fall well down the rankings, out of starting consideration in most leagues.

Free-agent WR Joaquin Davis (Broncos) was signed to the Minnesota Vikings practice squad Wednesday, Dec. 3.
Link to storyMinnesota Vikings RB Ty Chandler (knee) had his 21-day practice window opened Wednesday, Dec. 3.
Footballguys view: While Chandler has been out of action, Zavier Scott has filled in as the no.3 running back for the Vikings. If Chandler can get back on the field, then perhaps he'd get his role back behind Aaron Jones and Jordan Mason.
Minnesota Vikings QB Desmond Ridder was released on Tuesday, Dec. 2.
Link to storyMinnesota Vikings QB John Wolford reverted back to the practice squad Monday, Dec. 1, after being on the active roster for the Week 13 game.
Link to storyQuarterback J.J. McCarthy is symptom-free, head coach Kevin O'Connell says, and should emerge from the concussion protocol assuming he gets through a full practice on Wednesday. He is their expected starter for Sunday's game vs. Washington.
Footballguys view: McCarthy's return would be a positive after Max Brosmer's inauspicious NFL debut in Seattle. If we wondered heading into this one if Brosmer could be much worse than McCarthy, we got our answer. Yes. He could be worse. The overmatched youngster completed 19 of 30 passes for 126 yards and four interceptions. Justin Jefferson caught two of his six targets for four yards. We'll be following up as needed, but expect McCarthy to be back under center on Sunday.

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Vikings do not believe that running back Aaron Jones' shoulder injury is serious, and he is likely to be considered day-to-day.
Footballguys view: As ClutchPoints.com suggested, that's the good news. The bad news is that "day-to-day" still puts his Week 14 status in doubt as Minnesota prepares to host the Commanders. Jones has been managing a shoulder issue for weeks and may have aggravated it in Seattle, which raises the question of how much workload he can realistically handle even if he's active. We'll continue to follow up while reminding you that Jordan Mason and Zavier Scott will be standing by to pick up any slack as needed.

Wide receiver Adam Thielen's second tour of duty with the Vikings has come to an end. The team announced that they waived Thielen on Monday.
Footballguys view: Both Thielen and the team announced that the move came at Thielen's request because he would like to pursue opportunities for more playing time with another team in what he says will be his final NFL season. Thielen appeared in the first 11 games of the season before being inactive for Sunday's loss to the Seahawks. He only played 44 offensive snaps in his last six appearances for the Vikings. He had eight catches for 69 yards in his return to the team.

Minnesota Vikings RB Zavier Scott rushed three times for 17 yards and caught a four-yard pass in a 26-0 loss to the Seattle Seahawks in Week 13.
Link to storyMinnesota Vikings RB Jordan Mason finished with a team-high 47 rushing yards on six carries and caught one pass for one yard in a 26-0 loss to the Seattle Seahawks in Week 13.
Link to storyRB Aaron Jones will have his shoulder injury evaluated further, head coach Kevin O'Connell said after Sunday's 26-0 loss to the Seahawks.
Footballguys view: Jones left Sunday's game against the Seahawks in the third quarter due to the injury. He had just six runs for three yards, while totaling four receptions for 22 yards on four targets before departing. Jordan Mason, who briefly left Sunday's game with what appeared to be a lower leg injury, would be in line to start against the Commanders if Jones isn't ready for Week 14.

Minnesota Vikings QB Max Brosmer completed 19 of his 30 passes for 126 yards and four interceptions in a 26-0 loss to the Seattle Seahawks in Week 13.
Link to storyMinnesota Vikings C Ryan Kelly (hip) left the Week 13 game against the Seattle Seahawks due to a hip injury, and he will not return.
Link to storyMinnesota Vikings RB Aaron Jones (shoulder) left the Week 13 game against the Seattle Seahawks in the second half due to a shoulder injury. His return is questionable. Jones had just six runs for only three yards, while totaling four receptions for 22 yards on four targets before departing.
Footballguys view: The Vikings offense is sinking to the bottom of the ocean with quarterback problems, but this could make Jordan Mason at least a viable flex if Jones has to miss time. The matchup next week against Washington is much better than the trip to Seattle in Week 13, so Mason is worth an add on the waiver wire while we wait for news on Jones injury.

The Minnesota Vikings have not yet decided if OT Christian Darrisaw (knee, foot) will play in Week 13's game versus the Seattle Seahawks, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. He participated in just one of Minnesota's three practice sessions held during the week on a limited basis.
Link to storyMinnesota Vikings DE Jonathan Greenard (shoulder) is expected to play in Week 13's game against the Seattle Seahawks. He had been listed as questionable on the injury report after being a limited participant in all three of the Vikings' practice sessions held during the week.

Minnesota Vikings OF Donovan Jackson (ankle) will miss the Week 13 game against the Seattle Seahawks due to an ankle injury, head coach Kevin O'Connell said Saturday, Nov. 29. Jackson is considered week-to-week.
Link to storyMinnesota Vikings CB Dwight McGlothern Jr. was elevated from the practice squad to the active roster Saturday, Nov. 29, ahead of the Week 13 game against the Seattle Seahawks.
Link to storyMinnesota Vikings practice squad QB John Wolford was elevated to the active roster Saturday, Nov. 29, and will be available for the Week 13 game.
Link to storyConfirming a previous report, Minnesota Vikings QB Max Brosmer will start Week 13's game against the Seattle Seahawks because QB J.J. McCarthy (concussion) is still in concussion protocol, according to head coach Kevin O'Connell.
Footballguys view: McCarthy has to work through league protocol, and there's no telling how long that could take. Brosmer makes his first start on the road against a strong defense, so he's a low-end QB2 from a fantasy perspective. Adjust expectations for guys like Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison, as we expect the Vikings to be as run-heavy on offense as possible.
Minnesota Vikings WR Justin Jefferson (rest) practiced in full on Friday, Nov. 28, and no longer appears on the injury report.
Footballguys view: A rest day is no concern for Jefferson's availability. However, a game with undrafted rookie Max Brosmer could cap his ceiling. Prior to this season, Jefferson carried a 'quarterback-proof' label, but rookie J.J. McCarthy has shown there are limits to that. We'll see whether Jefferson can produce with Brosmer, but this week, he's more of a high-end WR2 than the plug-and-play WR1 you drafted him to be.

Minnesota Vikings G Donovan Jackson (ankle) did not practice all week and has been ruled out for Week 13 against the Seattle Seahawks. QB J.J. McCarthy (concussion) was limited in practice all week and has been ruled out. OT Christian Darrisaw (knee, foot), DE Jonathan Greenard (shoulder), S Theo Jackson (neck), S Josh Metellus (knee, shoulder), and DL Jalen Redmond (hip) were limited in practice on Friday, Nov. 28, and are listed as questionable. DL Jonathan Allen (rest), DL Javon Hargrave (rest), and S Harrison Smith (rest) were limited in practice on Friday and no longer appear on the injury report. Minnesota Vikings QB J.J. McCarthy (concussion) will not play in Week 13 against the Seattle Seahawks.
Footballguys view: Max Brosmer is expected to start in place of McCarthy. McCarthy missed his entire rookie season with a knee injury and missed five games earlier this year due to an ankle sprain. He'll miss a sixth game with this concussion, and possibly more. It's been a rough start for the young quarterback, and hopefully, some time off will give him a chance to reset after a handful of difficult starts.
Minnesota Vikings OT Christian Darrisaw (foot, knee) and OG Donovan Jackson (ankle) did not participate in practice Thursday, Nov. 27. LB Jonathan Greenard (shoulder), S Theo Jackson (neck), QB J.J. McCarthy (concussion), S Josh Metellus (knee, shoulder), DE Jalen Redmond (hip) and LB Dallas Turner (hip) were limited during practice. Minnesota Vikings QB J.J. McCarthy (concussion) was limited during practice Thursday, Nov. 27.
Footballguys view: Max Brosmer could be starting for the Vikings in Week 13. McCarthy has to work his way through the league's concussion protocol before he can be cleared to play. No matter who starts at quarterback for the Vikings, we expect them to lean on the run game as much as possible. McCarthy has been bad as the starter, so Brosmer can't be much worse.
Free-agent QB Desmond Ridder (Vikings) re-signed with the Minnesota Vikings' practice squad Thursday, Nov. 27.
Link to storyMinnesota Vikings WR Justin Jefferson said he believes that QB J.J. McCarthy will improve in the future. 'It's early,' Jefferson said. 'He's new to the game. He's new to the NFL. I feel like he's going to bounce back in a different way than everybody else is going to think so.'
