Titans | Chig Okonkwo not a big factor Sun Jan 4, 04:31 PM
Tennessee Titans TE Chig Okonkwo caught two passes for two yards against the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 18. He was targeted five times during the game.
Link to storyTennessee Titans WR Chimere Dike caught three passes for 27 yards against the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 18. He was targeted four times during the game.
Link to storyTennessee Titans WR Elic Ayomanor caught three passes for 50 yards against the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 18. He was targeted 10 times during the game.
Footballguys view: Ayomanor caught a 39 yard bomb from Cam Ward on the game's opening drive, which ended with a Ward touchdown run. The quarterback suffered a shoulder injury during the play, so the passing game stalled out after that against a spirited Jaguars defense. The Titans appear to have to found two long term contributors - if not starters - at wide receiver in the fourth round this season in Ayomanor and Dike, along with a potential future starting tight end in Gunnar Helm.
Tennessee Titans RB Tyjae Spears rushed for 18 yards on three carries against the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 18. He also caught seven passes for nine yards during the game.

Tennessee Titans RB Tony Pollard rushed for 48 yards on 14 carries against the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 18. He also caught three passes for 17 yards during the game.

Tennessee Titans QB Brandon Allen went 17-for-30 for 72 yards, zero touchdowns and one interception against the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 18. He entered the game after QB Cam Ward (shoulder) suffered his shoulder injury.

Tennessee Titans QB Cam Ward (shoulder) went 3-for-3 for 52 yards, zero touchdowns and zero interceptions against the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 18 before leaving the game because of a shoulder injury. He also rushed for 11 yards and one touchdown on two carries during the game.
Footballguys view: The Titans have a vacancy at head coach, but general manager Mike Borgonzi appears to have gotten his quarterback and nailed the first big decision of his tenue. Ward came on to post his best statistical games as a passer in December even though he was playing with two fellow rookies at wide receiver. Early signs point to Ward being a quarterback who will flourish with better teammates and more experience. Titans fans should be excited.

Tennessee Titans TE Gunnar Helm (toe) did not participate in practice Friday, Jan. 2, and has been ruled out for Week 18.
Footballguys view: Helm has taken over the primary tight end role in the second half of the season. As he's out this week, Chig Okonkwo creeps up the rankings. Okonkwo is a back-end streamer, but there's big-play upside that makes him a bit appealing for desperate fantasy managers. Helm should be the team's top tight end next season, making him a worthwhile investment in dynasty leagues.
Jacksonville Jaguars defensive coordinator Anthony Campanile and the Tennessee Titans have mutual interest regarding Tennessee's head coaching vacancy, according to Cameron Wolfe of NFL Network.

Tennessee Titans TE Gunnar Helm (toe) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Dec. 31.
Link to storyTennessee Titans TE Gunnar Helm ended up with a single 1-yard reception on two targets in Week 17 against the New Orleans Saints.
Link to storyTennessee Titans TE David Martin-Robinson and WR James Proche II each had one reception in Week 17 against the New Orleans Saints. Proche was actually targeted five times, but he ended up with just five yards, while DMR's catch was good for nine yards on his lone target.

Tennessee Titans TE Chimere Dike posted four receptions for 55 yards on five targets in Week 17 against the New Orleans Saints, while running once for seven yards. He also had a 33-yard kick return, and a 7-yard punt return.
Footballguys view: Dike broke the rookie all-purpose yardage record that was held by Tim Brown, which was 2,317 yards in 1988. The fourth round pick has been much more capable in the passing game than expected while bringing speed and playmaker instincts to the return game. He had two games with scores as a receiver and returner this season and has the look of a future cornerstone for this offense.
Tennessee Titans TE Chig Okonkwo posted three receptions for 55 yards and a touchdown on seven targets in Week 17 against the New Orleans Saints.
Footballguys view: Okonkwo went beast mode on his 40+ yard score, shrugging off a would-be tackler like he was the Incredible Hulk. He'll be a free agent next season, but Okonkwo has been contributing more down the stretch. It would be smart of the Titans to bring him back after the passing game weapon established chemistry with #1 pick Cam Ward.
Tennessee Titans RB Tony Pollard rushed 18 times for 85 yards in Week 17 against the New Orleans Saints, while adding two receptions for 10 yards on two targets. He ended up going over the 1,000-yard rushing yard, too, hitting that milestone for the fourth consecutive season.
Footballguys view: Pollard fell short of posting his fourth straight 100-yard rushing game, but he was still a strong performer. He might have done enough to justify playing him the $6.7 million he is due next season. Pollard showed he still has some good football left in him. Going over 1000 yards rushing for this team was quite the feat.

Tennessee Titans QB Cam Ward completed 21-of-40 passes for 251 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions in Week 17 against the New Orleans Saints, while running twice for 10 yards with two fumbles, including one lost.
Footballguys view: Ward has been playing better as the season has gone on, and he has one of the least impressive groups of passcatchers in the league. He is poised to gain value with the Titans hopefully hiring and offensive-minded head coach and making improvements to their wide receiver room.
Tennessee Titans DL Jeffery Simmons ended up with seven total stops, four solo tackles and a sack with a quarterback hit in Week 17 against the New Orleans Saints. It was his 10th sack of the season, which is a new career high. His previous best was 8.5 sacks in 2021. He has five or more sacks in each of the past five seasons.

Tennessee Titans LB Cedric Gray ended up with 12 total stops, including nine of the solo variety, with a tackle for loss in Week 17 against the New Orleans Saints.

Tennessee Titans WR Van Jefferson (forearm) suffered a forearm injury during the Week 17 game and has been ruled out.
Footballguys view: Interim coach Mike McCoy said after Sunday's 34-26 loss to the Saints that Jefferson is done for the season, Jim Wyatt of the Titans' official site reported. Jefferson won't play in the Titans' season finale against the Jaguars next weekend. As CBSSports.com suggested, Mason Kinsey and James Proche move up in the rotation behind Elic Ayomanor and Chimere Dike.

Tennessee Titans TE Gunnar Helm (toe) was limited during practice Friday, Dec. 26, but is not on the injury report for Week 16.
Footballguys view: Helm has been splitting tight end targets with Chig Okonkwo. A part-time role on a low-volume offense pushes him way out of fantasy consideration.
Tennessee Titans CB Marcus A. Harris (knee) did not participate in practice Thursday, Dec. 25. CB Jalyn Armour-Davis (Achilles), TE Gunnar Helm (toe), DT Sebastian Joseph-Day (calf), LB Oluwafemi Oladejo (fibula) and OG Kevin Zeitler (groin) were limited during practice.
