Rams | Davante Adams expected back in 2026 Mon Feb 2, 02:42 PM
Los Angeles Rams WR Davante Adams is expected to return to the team next season, according to head coach Sean McVay.
Footballguys view: Adams, 33, was a key contributor for the Rams in 2025, catching 60 passes for 789 yards with a league-leading 14 touchdowns. He missed some time with a hamstring injury, but caught 11 passes for 185 yards with a touchdown in three postseason games. Adams was also a boon for fantasy investors. Despite being limited to 14 regular-season games, the veteran finished as WR9 in total points. He was also WR9 on a points-per-game basis. Assuming all the pieces remain in place, fantasy managers find the Rams' offense a target-rich environment this summer.

Los Angeles Rams TE Tyler Higbee will receive time to decide if he wants to continue his playing career next season, according to head coach Sean McVay.
Footballguys view: The Rams are well-equipped to handle a departure if Higbee chooses to call it a career. Colby Parkinson emerged as a solid starter while Higbee spent time on injured reserve this past season. In addition, rookie Terrance Ferguson also emerged as a viable option at tight end. We'll follow up on this situation as developments warrant.

Los Angeles Rams QB Matthew Stafford (back) will not need to undergo surgery this offseason to repair a herniated disc in his back, according to head coach Sean McVay.
Footballguys view: Stafford entered the 2025 season with the back injury but started in all 20 games. He was also very productive. He led the NFL with 46 touchdown passes and 4,707 passing yards this year, at one point throwing a record 28 touchdown passes between interceptions. McVay told reporters during his end-of-season press conference Monday that while he hopes Stafford will return, he doesn't have an answer yet. Stafford has a $40 million salary that becomes guaranteed on the fifth day of the new league year, which puts a soft deadline around the middle of March. We'll be watching for more.

Sean McVay's future with the Rams is secure after Monday's announcement that he's signed a multi-year contract extension with the team, but quarterback Matthew Stafford's plans are less certain. On Monday, McVay said the team will give Stafford that time while making it clear that the hope is that he's running the Rams' offense again this fall. "I'm keeping my fingers crossed like you guys that he still wants to go play," McVay said, via Greg Beachem of the Associated Press.
Footballguys view: Stafford said after the Rams' loss to the Seahawks in the NFC Championship Game that there is a lot that goes into a decision to play an 18th NFL season and that he will "figure all that kind of stuff out with some time." As PFT notes, there's no timetable in place for Stafford to make his decision, but the sooner the Rams know whether they need to find a new quarterback, the better for their overall planning for next season.

Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay and general manager Les Snead signed undisclosed extensions Monday, Feb. 2.
Footballguys view: As ESPN.com notes, the pair previously signed contract extensions after winning Super Bowl LVI. Snead has been general manager of the Rams since 2012, while McVay was hired in 2017. Since 2017, the Rams have a 92-57 regular-season record, which is the fifth-best in the NFL. Since 2017, the Rams have made the playoffs seven times, playing in three NFC Championship Games and two Super Bowls. Last season, McVay became the winningest head coach in franchise history. While the Rams lost to the Seahawks in the NFC Championship to end their 2025 season, continuity here is great for fantasy investors.
Los Angeles Rams passing game coordinator Nate Scheelhaase, who interviewed for several vacant head-coaching positions in this hiring cycle, might be the top choice for the vacant offensive coordinator position with the Rams. Former OC Mike LaFleur was hired as the new head coach of the Arizona Cardinals.
Footballguys view: According to USA Today's Cameron DaSilva, this is the most logical choice for Rams head coach Sean McVay. Scheelhaase has familiarity with the offense and McVay's system, working in it for the last two years. It's the necessary next step for the 35-year-old assistant, too. He's seemingly bound to become a head coach at some point, but his lack of coordinator experience likely hurt his chances during this hiring cycle. One year under McVay as his OC all but guarantees he'll land a head coaching job in the very near future.
Former Cleveland Browns assistant special teams coach Kyle Hoke was hired by the Los Angeles Rams to fill the same capacity Saturday, Jan. 31.
Link to storyCleveland Browns special teams coordinator Ray Ventrone is being hired by the Los Angeles Rams as their special teams coordinator, according to a source.
Link to storyCleveland Browns special teams coordinator Ray Ventrone has been requested for an interview by the Los Angeles Rams.
Link to storyLos Angeles Rams WR Puka Nacua averaged 107.2 yards per game during the 2025 regular season.
Footballguys view: This just in: Nacua is really good at his job. He led the league with 129 receptions, finished second in receiving yards with 1,715 passing yards and scored 11 total touchdowns. His success was all-encompassing, as he led the league in contested catches (27), according to Pro Football Focus, and finished first among receivers in yards after catch (729), according to Next Gen Stats. In addition to being a finalist for the NFL Offensive Player of the Year, Nacua finished 2025 as fantasy's WR1 overall. It's not a reach to believe he'll be the first player selected in many fantasy drafts this summer.

Los Angeles Rams QB Matthew Stafford plans to return for his 18th NFL season, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, who reports that Stafford has told people close to him that he believes he has 'good football left.'
Footballguys view: Immediately after the Rams' 31-27 loss to the Seahawks in the NFC Championship Game, Stafford wouldn't discuss next season. "I can't generalize six months of my life 10 minutes after a loss," he said. But a return makes sense. Stafford, a finalist for this year's NFL MVP award, is coming off the best season of his career, finishing the regular season as the odds-on favorite to be named MVP after leading the league in passing yards (4,707) and passing touchdowns (46). We'll watch for more on this, but it could take some time for an official answer.

Los Angeles Rams S Kamren Curl is set to be a free agent this offseason, and the chances of the team re-signing him are 'slim,' per ESPN's Jeremy Fowler, who notes that the team recently signed fellow S Quentin Lake to a large extension and are unlikely to have multiple sizable contracts at that position.

Los Angeles Rams WR Puka Nacua is averaging 109 receiving yards in six career postseason games, and his three career playoff games with 100-plus receiving yards are on shy of the franchise record.

Los Angeles Rams QB Matthew Stafford completed 22 of his 35 passes for 374 yards and three touchdowns and gained 16 rushing yards on two carries in a 31-27 loss to the Seattle Seahawks in the NFC Championship Game. RB Blake Corum gained a team-high 55 rushing yards on nine carries and caught three passes for 24 yards, and RB Kyren Williams rushed 10 times for 39 yards and had two receptions for 22 yards and a touchdown. WR Puka Nacua was open early and often, catching nine passes for 165 yards and a touchdown, and WR Davante Adams hauled in four passes for 89 yards and a score. TE Colby Parkinson finished with 62 receiving yards on three receptions, and TE Tyler Higbee caught his only target for 12 yards. LB Omar Speights recorded a team-high 11 tackles, including seven solo stops, and S Kamren Kinchens, DE Jared Verse and DL Braden Fiske all recorded a sack.
Footballguys view: The Rams outgained the Seahawks 479 to 396, but Seattle was 4-of-5 in the red zone and had the only takeaway. The Rams were only 1-for-8 on third down. Stafford, who is a finalist for NFL MVP, threw a 9-yard touchdown to Williams, a 2-yarder to Davante Adams, and a 34-yarder to Nacua, who was named a finalist for the AP NFL Offensive Player of the Year Award. Beyond that, even if head coach Sean McVay loses an assistant or two in the current hiring cycle, the Rams are well-positioned for continued success in 2026.

Link to storyLos Angeles Rams RB Kyren Williams has caught at least three passes in four of his last five games, including the playoffs, after recording three or more receptions just twice in his first 14 games this season.
Footballguys view: Williams can beat you as a runner or receiver out of the backfield. The Seahawks will have their hands full with Puka Nacua and Davante Adams, so getting some targets for Williams just makes sense.
Los Angeles Rams WR Puka Nacua faces the Seattle Seahawks in the NFC Championship Game, and Nacua had 19 receptions for 300 yards and two touchdowns in the two regular season meetings with Seattle.
Footballguys view: Nacua is a nightmare for :checks notes: everyone in the NFL. Expect him to be a huge part of the Rams' passing attack (as per usual) in the NFC Championship Game on Sunday.

Los Angeles Rams S Quentin Lake (illness) and LB Byron Young (knee) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Jan. 21. CB Emmanuel Forbes (shoulder) was limited during practice, while LB Josaiah Stewart (knee) fully participated in practice. The Rams only held a walkthrough Wednesday, so the report is an estimation.

Link to storyLos Angeles Rams QB Matthew Stafford completed 20 of his 42 passes for 258 yards in a 20-17 overtime win over the Chicago Bears in the Divisional Round. RB Kyren Williams rushed for a team-high 87 yards and two touchdowns on 21 carries and added four grabs four 30 yards. RB Blake Corum was held in check, finishing with six carries for 19 yards. WR Puka Nacua and TE Colby Parkinson tied for the team lead with 56 receiving yards. Parkinson caught three passes, and Nacua had five receptions to go along with two carries for six yards. Davante Adams was limited to two catches for 24 yards, and TE Tyler Higbee had just one catch for 27 yards. WR Jordan Whittington finished with two receptions for 35 yards. S Kamren Curl turned in a standout performance, logging a team-high 13 tackles, including seven solo stops, and an interception. LB Nathan Landman finished with 10 tackles, including five solo stops, and CB Cobie Durant had two tackles, three passes defensed and a pair of interceptions.
Footballguys view: The Rams' offense -- a unit that led the league in offensive DVOA during the regular season -- struggled for much of their 20-17 divisional-round win against the Chicago Bears. Through three quarters, the Rams had 174 yards, their fewest of the season, according to ESPN Research. But the Rams' defense stepped up when they needed to most, with safety Kam Curl intercepting a Caleb Williams pass in overtime to give Los Angeles the ball back at their 22-yard line. While not a pretty game for the Rams, it was enough to send them to the NFC Championship Game for the first time since they won Super Bowl LVI during the 2021 season. Now get ready for Rams vs. Seahawks Part III.

Link to storyLos Angeles Rams QB Matthew Stafford (finger) fully participated in practice Friday, Jan. 16, and is not on the injury report for the Divisional Round playoff game.
Footballguys view: Stafford picked up a sprained finger in last week's win, but he'll be a full go in a blustery road game against the Bears. His finger and the expected weather should temper expectations, but Stafford's multi-touchdown upside always makes him viable in fantasy.

Los Angeles Rams TE Terrance Ferguson (hamstring) fully participated in practice Wednesday, Jan. 14. The Rams only held a walkthrough Wednesday, so this is an estimation.

Link to storyLos Angeles Rams TE Terrance Ferguson (hamstring) has a good chance to be available for the Divisional Round playoff game, according to head coach Sean McVay.
Footballguys view: Ferguson missed the last two games with a hamstring injury that popped up on Friday before the finale against the Arizona Cardinals, but he's making progress, too. Ferguson's return would give the Rams even more talent and depth at an already rich position, with Tyler Higbee back and Colby Parkinson playing well.
Los Angeles Rams OG Kevin Dotson (ankle) did not play in the Wild Card playoff game, but head coach Sean McVay said he is optimistic that Dotson will be available for the Divisional Round playoff game.
Footballguys view: Dotson has missed the last three games with an ankle injury suffered in the Rams' Week 16 loss to the Seattle Seahawks. Justin Dedich has been filling in at right guard but Dotson is arguably the Rams' best offensive lineman when healthy.
Los Angeles Rams CB Ahkello Witherspoon (shoulder) will be placed on the Reserve/Injured list because of the shoulder injury he suffered during the Wild Card playoff game, according to head coach Sean McVay.
Footballguys view: Witherspoon began the season as a starter for the Rams, but he has played only seven games in a secondary that has been repeatedly exposed as the defense's weakest link, with or without his presence. Cobie Durant moved into Witherspoon's starting spot after Week 2, and he kept the spot after Witherspoon's return. Durant had an early interception in the Rams' win at Carolina. The Rams play in Chicago on Sunday.
