Jones is under contract for another year at a salary cap number of $3.07 million. Jones got ample opportunity to show off his skills in 2025. He threw for 13 touchdowns and six interceptions while averaging 268.9 passing yards in eight starts in place of an injured Purdy. The Niners went 5-3 and stayed in the playoff mix with Jones under center. That's the kind of insurance policy teams covet. |

'You've got to be ready to play in the games as much as possible,' McCaffrey said. 'I'll do whatever it takes for this team.'
| Footballguys view: There's always a concern about McCaffrey being able to stay healthy. He runs hard and plays with a fire that few can match. That style (and his large workload) leads to a lot of hits. We'll see what he can do next year with a sizable role, but Fantasy GMs who draft McCaffrey are already conditioned to be ready for him to miss time. |

| Footballguys view: Morris, who is coming off a two-year stint coaching Atlanta in which he went 16-18, will return to the NFC West, where he previously coordinated the rival Rams' defense. Morris and 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan are close friends from previous coaching stops with Tampa Bay (2004-2005), Washington (2012), and, most recently, with the Atlanta Falcons in 2015-2016. This will be Morris' third professional stint as a defensive coordinator, having done the job in Atlanta in 2020 and for Los Angeles from 2021 to 2023. |
