1. LAC - RB Melvin Gordon hopes to stay with LAC

Source: ProFootballTalk.com - Charean Williams

Los Angeles Chargers RB Melvin Gordon said he hopes to stay with the Chargers but believes it is time for him to receive a lucrative new contract. Gordon indicated he is willing to have a lengthy holdout.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Chargers would be unlikely to get much in return for Gordon if he was put on the trade block. He's a fine starter but injuries have kept him from playing a full season all but one year out of his four-year career. Gordon won't get top dollar, he's not that kind of back, but he should be looking for some long-term security with the Chargers. We'll see if he misses some time in training camp and the preseason holding out. The Chargers really don't have anyone on the roster who could replace him.

2. DAL - QB Dak Prescott not looking for team-friendly deal

Source: USA TODAY Sports - Jori Epstein

Dallas Cowboys QB Dak Prescott doesn't plan to give his team a hometown discount when it comes to negotiating a contract extension. He is entering the final season of his current contract but no deal appears to be imminent.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Prescott doesn't need to settle for a hometown discount. He may not be the best quarterback in the league, but in the QB-desperate NFL Prescott will demand a premium price...and he'll get it. We could see Prescott get a deal that pays him nearly $30 million annually.

3. DAL - DeMarcus Lawrence hopes to be ready for opener

Source: ProFootballTalk.com - Charean Williams

Dallas Cowboys DE DeMarcus Lawrence (shoulder) said his main goal is to be ready to play Week 1.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

He is expected to start training camp on the Physically Unable to Perform list. We'll see if he can be healthy enough towards the end of August to start the regular season opener. If he suffers any setbacks, the team could put him on the PUP list to begin the regular season but at this point that doesn't seem likely.

4. KC - TE Deon Yelder missed time this offseason

Source: The Kansas City Star - Brooke Pryor

Kansas City Chiefs TE Deon Yelder (hamstring) missed some offseason workouts and the mandatory minicamp because of a hamstring injury but may still be the leading candidate for the No. 2 tight end job.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We've been watching Yelder in super deep dynasty formats ever since he came out of Western Kentucky as an undrafted free agent. He's a consistent pass catcher who can create mismatches as a receiver. We'll see how this battle for the No. 2 tight end spot shakes out for the Chiefs in training camp.

5. BUF - Four Bills WRs should be ready for camp

Source: BuffaloBills.com - Nate Mendelson

Buffalo Bills WRs John Brown (personal), Cole Beasley (core), Zay Jones (undisclosed) and Robert Foster (undisclosed) all missed some offseason workouts but all four are expected to be ready for the start of training camp.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Bills revamped their WR corps this offseason through the draft and free agency. Jones is the top receiver, but the pecking order behind him needs to be established. Beasley can work underneath as a slot receiver, so we'll see if Brown or Foster can win the deep threat job in 2019.

6. ARI - WR Larry Fitzgerald to move around

Source: The Arizona Republic - Bob McManaman

Arizona Cardinals WR Larry Fitzgerald will move around the offensive formation this season so the team can keep defenses honest, according to head coach Kliff Kingsbury.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

That's good news for the veteran as he can produce on the outside or from the slot. Fitzgerald should provide a reliable target for rookie QB Kyler Murray and has a current ADP of WR36 (8.07) in 12-team PPR leagues.

7. NYJ - CB Trumaine Johnson facing big expectations

Source: New York Post - Brian Costello

New York Jets CB Trumaine Johnson will be under 'a significant amount of pressure' this season, in the opinion of the New York Post's Brian Costello, given Johnson's large salary and uneven first season in New York that included an injury and disciplinary issues.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Costello also notes that the Jets could elect to move on from Johnson after the season if he clashes with head coach Adam Gase despite taking on significant dead money.

8. DET - RB Ty Johnson facing uphill battle?

Source: DetroitLions.com - Tim Twentyman

Detroit Lions RB Ty Johnson is joining a deep and experienced position group in Detroit, and he'll be given a chance to return kickoffs, which may be his 'ticket onto the roster,' in the opinion of DetroitLions.com's Tim Twentyman.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

A sixth-round pick out of Maryland, Johnson might have to look to the practice squad in 2019. He's an intent runner at 5'10" 205 pounds and does a good job of creating chunk plays. Now, Johnson does have a bad habit of looking to bounce runs outside when looking for a big play. He'll have to learn to take what the defense gives him sometime at the pro level. We'll monitor him in super deep dynasty formats.

9. DEN - DE Billy Winn finally healthy

Source: The Denver Post - Ryan O'Halloran

Denver Broncos DL Billy Winn (knee) is expected to be ready for training camp after recovering from a knee injury suffered in 2017.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

This is Winn's second stint with the Broncos. He was out of the league last year and last appeared for the Broncos in 2016. Winn was hurt early in 2017 with Denver but now he's back. We'll see if the veteran can work into the mix as a rotational DE/DT for the Broncos Vic Fangio defense.

10. DAL - Jameill Showers back in action

Source: The Dallas Morning News - Kristi Scales

Dallas Cowboys S Jameill Showers (knee) was a participant in June minicamp.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Showers has carved out a pro career in the NFL as a special teams player. A converted college quarterback from UTEP, Showers tore his ACL in mid-August of 2018 in the preseason and has been recovering ever since.

11. DAL - S Darian Thompson back from groin injury

Source: DallasCowboys.com - Bryan Broaddus

Dallas Cowboys FS Darian Thompson (groin) participated in minicamp.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Back in March of this year, the Cowboys re-signed Thompson to a one-year, $720,000 contract. He was a special teams player for them in 2018 and can at least fill that role. We'll see if Thompson can stay healthy and earn more playing time on defense in 2019.

12. CIN - DT Geno Atkins eyeing training camp

Source: Bengals.com - Geoff Hobson

Cincinnati Bengals DT Geno Atkins (undisclosed) is expected to ready for the start of training camp.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Atkins is a seasoned veteran, so he doesn't need every single rep in training camp. It's okay if the Bengals ease him back into action, which they should do.

13. CHI - OLB Aaron Lynch on the mend

Source: ChicagoBears.com - Larry Mayer

Chicago Bears LB Aaron Lynch (elbow) was able to participate in minicamp.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Good news for the veteran here. Lynch signed a one-year deal with the Bears earlier this offseason. In 2018, his first season in Chicago, Lynch ended up starting three games and finished with 16 tackles, 3.0 sacks and one interception. He's a run-stuffing presence up front so long as he can stay healthy.
