1. CIN - Sprained ankle for WR A.J. Green

Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport

Updating a previous report, Cincinnati Bengals WR A.J. Green (ankle) is believed to have suffered a sprained ankle during practice Saturday, July 27, but will undergo an MRI to determine the severity of the injury, according to sources.

Early reports are this is a low ankle sprain for Green which is good news compared to what it might have been.

3. NYG - WR Golden Tate to appeal suspension

Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter

New York Giants WR Golden Tate is appealing a four-game suspension for violating the National Football League's performance-enhancing substance policy because he believes he has a legitimate case, according to multiple league sources.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The appeal is supposed to be heard in early August. This means the Giants will know whether or not Tate is going to be with them the first four games of the 2019 regular season. Stay tuned.

4. NYG - WR Sterling Shepard confident about Week 1

Source: ESPN.com - Jordan Raanan

New York Giants WR Sterling Shepard (thumb) said he believes he will be ready for the start of the regular season.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

He has a chance to have more value through the first four weeks if Golden Tate's suspension holds up, and Shepard will stay in football shape as he still practices to some extent while the thumb is healing.

5. CLE - Hamstring injury for RB Duke Johnson

Source: The Cleveland Plain Dealer - Mary Kay Cabot

Cleveland Browns RB Duke Johnson (hamstring) did not participate in practice Saturday, July 27, because of a hamstring injury.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

This won't help his bid to get traded, along with Theo Riddick now being on the market. He's on the borderline of draftable in shallow PPR leagues even though his talent demands more touches than the Browns gave him last year.

6. NE - RB Sony Michel returns to practice

Source: ESPN.com - Mike Reiss

New England Patriots RB Sony Michel (knee) participated in practice Saturday, July 27.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

That didn't last long. To begin camp, the Patriots placed Michel (knee) on the active/PUP list. Michel missed most of the offseason work as he had his knee scoped earlier this year. We'll see if he can stay healthy and impress like he did last year as a rookie. Michel has some potentially tough competition in rookie Damien Harris (Alabama) this training camp.

7. DET - RB Theo Riddick released

Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport

The Detroit Lions released RB Theo Riddick Saturday, July 27. The move frees up $3.66 million in salary cap space and leaves $962,500 in dead cap.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The writing had been on the wall for some time. The Lions move on from their pass-catching back and that's a good sign for starter Kerryon Johnson. He's a more than capable receiver and should be in for an even larger role with Riddick elsewhere. Riddick is a seasoned veteran and should find a new team quickly.

8. NYG - Sam Beal dealing with injury

Source: ESPN.com - Jordan Raanan

New York Giants CB Sam Beal (groin) left practice early Saturday, July 27, because of a groin injury.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Beal was set up to take on a large role in the Giants secondary. Hopefully this is minor and slows down the negative momentum of the Giants camp.

9. DAL - Travis Frederick cleared to practice

Source: The Dallas Morning News - Calvin Watkins

Dallas Cowboys C Travis Frederick (illness) has been cleared to be a full participant during practice, but the team will monitor him during camp.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Cowboys line could be improved from last year with the return of one of their cornerstones in the pivot. This could give the whole offense a bump.

10. LAC - OLB Jatavis Brown may return in a few weeks

Source: ESPN.com - Eric D. Williams

Los Angeles Chargers LB Jatavis Brown (ankle) hopefully will be able to return to practice during the third week of training camp, according to head coach Anthony Lynn.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Kyzir White could get more practice snaps in Brown's stead. Brown has been an IDP force at times, and a non-factor in the defense.

11. TEN - PK Ryan Succop should be ready for opener

Source: TitansOnline.com - Jim Wyatt

Tennessee Titans PK Ryan Succop (knee) should be ready for the start of the regular season, according to head coach Mike Vrabel.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Austin Bernard will get a chance to show his stuff for the other 31 teams while Succop recovers, and he'll surely be on speed dial for the Titans if Succop misses time this year.

12. PHI - Cre'Von LeBlanc to miss some time

Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport

Philadelphia Eagles CB Cre'Von LeBlanc (foot) will be sidelined for several weeks because of a foot sprain, according to a source. He will not need to undergo surgery but was spotted in a walking boot Saturday, July 27.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The team signed Orlando Scandrick in a related move. Jalen Mills is also on the PUP so the Eagles have some healing to do in the secondary to get to full strength.

13. NYG - NYG signs WR T.J. Jones

Source: Giants.com - Dan Salomone

Free-agent WR T.J. Jones (Lions) signed with the New York Giants Saturday, July 27. Terms of the contract were not disclosed. The team also placed WR Corey Coleman (knee) on the Reserve/Injured list and waived PK Joey Slye.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Jones can play in the slot while Golden Tate is suspended if his appeal is unsuccessful, and he can fill in outside, but lacks the speed Coleman brought to the table.

14. NYG - Amba Etta-Tawo joins Giants

Source: NFL Network - Tom Pelissero

Free-agent WR Amba Etta-Tawo (Texans) signed with the New York Giants Saturday, July 27. Terms of the contract were not disclosed.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Giants are desperate at the position with Corey Coleman (knee) lost for the year with an injury and Golden Tate suspended for the first four games of the season...and Sterling Shepard has a broken thumb and is week-to-week. This is Etta-Tawo's second stint with the Giants.

15. WAS - WR Paul Richardson on the field

Source: Redskins.com - Kyle Stackpole

Washington Redskins WR Paul Richardson (shoulder) participated in practice Friday, July 26.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Richardson needs to stay healthy and impress in what is a make-or-break year for the young receiver. He's talented and flashed with both Washington and Seattle in the pros, but Richardson is oft-injured dating back to his days in college at the University of Colorado. Last season was his first year with Washington and Richardson was only able to make it through seven games.
