Week 12 Upgrades/Downgrades

Upgrades

QB Drew Brees - SD

Brees and the Chargers just keep rolling. He shredded the Bills defense for 339 yards and four first half TDs.

QB Aaron Brooks - NO

He is capable of having a big game against defenses that struggle to stop the pass. He had 343 yards and two TDs against New England on Sunday.

QB Jay Fiedler - NYJ

Heís a couple weeks away, but he will certainly be handed the starting job when healthy.

QB Byron Leftwich - JAX

After going so long without scoring 30 points, the Jaguars offense is now unstoppable. Well, letís not get carried away. Still, Leftwich is playing well right now. He threw for 258 yards and three TDs against the Titans.

QB Peyton Manning - IND

That first half was absolute precision. Manning ended up torching the Bengals for 365 yards and three TDs.

QB Jamie Martin - STL

He played well in relief of an injured Marc Bulger. Depending on the severity of the injury he could be a good replacement for a few weeks.

QB Mike McMahon - PHI

Heís not real exciting, but with McNabb out, McMahon is a starting QB. Those are hard to come by in some leagues.

QB Carson Palmer - CIN

The Bengals offense is on fire. Palmer came up short in matching Peyton Manning, but he still tossed for 335 yards and a pair of TDs.

QB Michael Vick - ATL

Vick is hot right now. Over the last three weeks, he has thrown for 743 yards with five TDs and no INTs to go with 79 rushing yards and a rushing TD.

QB Kurt Warner - ARI

Warner is throwing up huge yardage numbers. In the past three weeks, he has totaled 978 passing yards and five TDs.

RB Mike Alstott - TB

He scored from in close again. He is the goal line back when they need a score.

RB Mike Anderson - DEN

With Tatum Bell a bit gimpy, Anderson turned in a huge day against the pitiful Jets. He totaled 129 yards from scrimmage and pushed in three short TDs.

RB J.J. Arrington - ARI

Arrington is coming around. He had another TD Sunday and 68 total yards.

RB Marion Barber III - DAL

Barber wonít put up gaudy yardage totals with Julius Jones healthy again, but he does seem adept near the goal line. At the very least, you know heíll be getting some looks.

RB Chris Brown - TEN

Brown is putting up top 10 fantasy RB numbers over the last three weeks. On Sunday, against a very good Jaguars defense, he had 119 total yards and scored two TDs.

RB Domanick Davis - HOU

He had 110 combined yards and a score in a game that they were blown out. He remains the lifeblood of this team going forward.

RB Reuben Droughns - CLE

The Brownsí bright spot keeps getting brighter. Droughns shredded the Dolphins for 166 rushing yards and a 75-yard TD.

RB Larry Johnson - KC

The Texans are bad against the run, but Johnsonís 211 rushing yards are still eye-popping (and a new team record). He also added a couple of TDs. Over the last three weeks, Johnson is hanging with Shaun Alexander and LaDainian Tomlinson. Thatís amazing production.

RB Willie Parker - PIT

You have to worry a bit about him staying out of the training room, but Parker will be the teamís starting RB every week he is healthy.

RB Chester Taylor - BAL

He did not have an outstanding day (19 carries for 59 yards) against a tough Pittsburgh defense, but he got 6 more carries than supposed starter Jamal Lewis. Jamal Lewis was ineffective again (13 carries for 28 yards) and will likely see this kind of split going forward. Get Chester Taylor now.

RB Cadillac Williams - TB

We were about ready to put the Cadillac up on blocks, but he had a solid day against the Falcons (129 total yards and a TD).

WR Anquan Boldin - ARI

After missing time with his injured knee, Boldin exploded in his first game back and caught eight balls for 105 yards and a TD. Hopefully heíll stay healthy.

WR Reggie Brown - PHI

He only caught three passes but finished with 88 yards and a score. He is the new deep threat on the Eagles.

WR Braylon Edwards - CLE

He had 90 yards on six catches. The QB play is inconsistent, but Braylon is playing at a very high level right now. He is a star on the rise.

WR Justin Gage - CHI

Gage is finally starting to come around. He posted seven catches for 81 yards against the Panthers.

WR Torry Holt - STL

Letís see Ė 11 catches for 129 yards and a TD. He seems to be healthy again.

WR Chad Johnson - CIN

Johnson guaranteed that the Colts would not stop him on Sunday, and then he went out and led the league in receiving with 189 yards and a TD. Check.

WR Matt Jones - JAX

He isnít getting huge yardage totals, but Jones has scored in four of his last five games.

WR Brandon Lloyd - SF

Welcome back. The 49ers finally threw past the line of scrimmage, and Lloyd responded with seven catches for 119 yards and a TD.

WR Steve Smith - CAR

Another game, another 14 catches and 169 yards. Ho hum. What is amazing is that Smith had all that production when the team scored only three points all game.

WR Donte Stallworth - NO

He is someone that is hard to get excited about (due to his inconsistent play), but Stallworth did manage two TDs yesterday. The Saints look like they will be playing from behind in a lot of games, so he should be productive going forward.

WR Roddy White - ATL

Michael Vick is throwing for over 200 yards a game consistently now and Roddy White is a big reason for that. He had 108 yards on 4 catches on Sunday, but failed to score.

TE Dallas Clark - IND

Clark had a huge game against the Bengals as he caught six passes for 125 yards and a score.

TE Alge Crumpler - ATL

Vick always looks for Crumpler when he needs to complete a pass. And the new Vick is throwing a lot more these days. Crumpler's numbers can only get better going forward.

TE Tony Gonzalez - KC

Over the last three weeks, Gonzalez leads all TEs with 22 catches.

TE Ben Watson - NE

The Patriots are the walking wounded which has meant more playing time for Watson. He did not find the endzone this week, but still managed 66 yards on 4 catches.

PK Billy Cundiff - DAL

Cundiff was re-signed by Dallas late last week and kicked a franchise-record 56-yard FG just before the first half ended.

PK Joe Nedney - SF

The 49ers offense keeps bogging down (big surprise), and Nedney keeps converting FGs. He has kicked 14 three-pointers in the last four weeks.

TD Chicago Bears - CHI

They spent all day harassing Jake Delhomme and ended up forcing two INTs and tallied eight sacks. Thatís an excellent showing against a very good Panthers offense.

TD Denver Broncos - DEN

Over the last two games, they have allowed just 17 points while recording five interceptions, three fumble recoveries and eight sacks.

Downgrades

QB Drew Bledsoe - DAL

He has just 306 yards and a TD over his last two games. The Cowboys are committing to running the ball and playing solid defense. This does not bode well for Bledsoe going forward.

QB Mark Brunell - WAS

Brunell and the Redskins are really struggling after a hot start. Over the last three weeks, he has thrown for only 605 yards and two TDs.

QB Marc Bulger - STL

He left the game with an injured shoulder again. This is becoming a disturbing trend every year with Bulger.

QB Donovan McNabb - PHI

He will undergo season-ending hernia surgery.

QB Vinny Testaverde - NYJ

:shakeshead:

RB Tatum Bell - DEN

He left the game with an injury and will likely sit this week since Denver plays on Thursday.

RB Stephen Davis - CAR

Davis is looking very old. He is still a goal line stud, but when Carolina doesnít get near the endzone Davis has little value.

RB Corey Dillon - NE

It looks like the team will be able to let Dillon heal up.

RB Steven Jackson - STL

He had 12 yards on six carries this past week. Ouch. Even without Martz, this team loves to throw the ball every down.

RB Julius Jones - DAL

He was stuffed three times from the one, while Marion Barber III scored twice from inside the ten. Jones is a solid back, but heís in a committee.

RB Jamal Lewis - BAL

Chester Taylor had more carries, more yards and more yards per carry. That's all you need to know. We expect that trend to continue going forward.

RB Curtis Martin - NYJ

Martin will have a couple more good games, but the Jets are really bad. He canít be relied upon.

RB Willis McGahee - BUF

In the two games that JP Losman has started, Willis has just 105 yards on 30 carries (and no TDs). Expect this trend to continue as defenses load up the line to stop the running game making JP throw for first downs.

RB Michael Pittman - TB

His shoulder is really giving him problems.

RB Duce Staley - PIT

If Willie Parker is healthy, Staley will be inactive.

RB Fred Taylor - JAX

He made a surprise Sunday start after being doubtful all week, but he didnít even get close to finishing the game. Heís just not reliable at all.

RB Jonathan Wells - HOU

He had value with Domanick Davis out, but since Davis has returned, Wells wonít score.

WR Joey Galloway - TB

Zero catches will always get you on the downgrade list.

WR Terry Glenn - DAL

When your team is throwing just 153 yards a game over the last two games, there simply aren't enough balls to produce viable fantasy stats.

WR Keyshawn Johnson - DAL

The Cowboys are running a lot these days, and it is killing Johnson's value.

WR Randy Moss - OAK

Between his interview and his lackluster route running as of late, Moss is not a great option right now. He clearly wants the ball more and is not happy with Norv Turner's play calling.

WR Santana Moss - WAS

Moss has only 211 yards and zero TDs in his last three games. Those arenít terrible numbers, but he has fallen out of the elite fantasy WRs.

TE Antonio Gates - SD

He left the game with an injury and could miss some time. When on the field, he remains the best in the game.

TE Jason Witten - DAL

He has just five catches for 42 yards (and no scores) in his last two games.

PK David Akers - PHI

He has just four FGs (and two misses) in his last three games. The Eagles are struggling mightily on offense so his chances going forward look slim.

PK Mike Nugent - NYJ

Over the last three games, he has kicked just three FGs and 2 EPs. Neil Rackers has that kind of production on a weekly basis.

PK Adam Vinatieri - NE

He has just four FG attempts in his last three games. He made them all, but is simply not getting enough chances to produce. As the weather gets colder, his chances may actually decrease.

TD Indianapolis Colts - IND

The Colts started the season red hot on defense, but they have been struggling a bit lately. This is still a good fantasy unit, but they are no longer an elite group.

TD Miami Dolphins - MIA

Miami let Reuben Droughns run all over the field. They allowed the pitiful Browns to accumulate 376 yards of offense. The Dolphins offense is struggling to stay on the field. And Zach Thomas suffered a separated shoulder Sunday.

TD Philadelphia Eagles - PHI

As if things werenít going bad enough for the Eagles defense, they lost Lito Shepherd to a broken ankle Sunday.

TD New England Patriots - NE

They have yielded a league worst 1,315 yards in their last 3 games.
