Amari Cooper for Elijah Moore 2023 3rd and 2023 4th
This is an interesting question of timing. Elijah Moore failed spectacularly in his second season and became a healthy scratch as a disciplinary problem. He only participated in 71% of the Jets’ passing dropbacks and fell from 1.75 yards per route run as a rookie to only 0.9 in his second season. Moore was a good prospect entering 2022, but his 2022 was a major stumble. Moore’s present trade value is likely a benefit of the potential of either Aaron Rodgers or Derek Carr becoming the team’s next quarterback. Amari Cooper, on the other hand, finished as WR11 in total points and WR18 in PPG (14.5). Overall, Cooper is part of a solution at the position, while Moore is a purely speculative bet.
We laid out the case for Diontae Johnson in last week’s trade column. Johnson is a good regression candidate after an inefficient 2022 season. On the other hand, Joe Mixon is a potential cut candidate. Cincinnati could save 7.3 million dollars off a 12.8 million dollar cap hit. Mixon averaged 16PPG in 2022, his lowest since 2019. Mixon has drawn early offseason legal concerns, so his trajectory should be monitored. Mixon is the more valued player at present (46 compared to 71) for Johnson, according to fantasycalc.com. Despite the general market saying otherwise, Twitter was widely supportive of Johnson.
Johnson is likely a discount, which is a present opportunity to move to a safer offseason asset than Joe Mixon.
