Theme of the Week: Seek Shelter
Young's benching this week opens a buy-and-sell opportunity for the former 1.01 quarterback, who lasted only two games into his second season in Carolina. The trade market for Young was tepid in the offseason but still offering both sides of the market potential this week off the news.
Here are a few key Young trades this week with him as a buy-and-sell valuation and recommendation:
- Buy Young for 3rd
- Buy Young, 3rd for 2nd
- Buy Young for Cam Akers
- Buy Young, 1st for Isiah Pacheco
- Sell Young for Trey Benson
- Sell Young, 2nd for Sam Darnold, Amari Cooper
One key consideration is the end game with Bryce Young. Even if he gets another chance, a much better situation, and is an NFL successful redemption story a la Sam Darnold, Baker Mayfield, or Geno Smith, the upside of Young is likely capped due to his lack of rushing upside. If Young, in the future, is QB15-25 at his best, the incentive to hold beyond exit opportunities now is low.
