Updates from Week 1
Preseason Updates: Quarterbacks
The Bills are entering a new era following the firing of Sean McDermott and the promotion of Joe Brady to head coach, as well as the opening of a new stadium. While the offense should remain similar, Brady's leadership may bring a more aggressive approach at times. Josh Allen remains among the elite fantasy options at his position and could see an uptick in big plays thanks to the trade for DJ Moore as the new WR1. Cap concerns forced a downgrade at the backup spot, with the team now relying on Kyle Allen, but Josh Allen has proven remarkably durable, not missing a start since late 2018.
Preseason Updates: Running Backs
After signing a new contract in camp roughly a year ago, James Cook III went out and led the league in rushing. He enters the year as a top-five fantasy option, with an even higher ceiling available if the team uses him more consistently in passing situations. Ray Davis returns as a change-of-pace backup and handcuff option, while Ty Johnson remains the veteran RB3 and third-down specialist. Johnson did leave practice Saturday with an injury, though no details on severity have been shared. This committee approach has served the team well, so expect more of the same. Frank Gore Jr. is also back in camp after spending the past two seasons on the practice squad.
