Scouting Report
Anthony Smith was a three-star recruit in the 2020 class with a minimal role until his senior year of high school, when the track star blossomed into a big-play receiver. He spent four years at NC State, struggling to crack an experienced receiving rotation, and an injury ended his 2022 season early. Smith moved to East Carolina in 2024, immediately becoming the team's leading receiver. He saved his best for last, earning first-team All-AAC honors in 2025, and leaves ECU seventh in career receiving yards in school history. Smith was a standout at the American Bowl, and his performance earned him an invitation to the Shrine Bowl. Smith impressed scouts with sharp routes and earned viral attention for his helmet sticker collection from the two games.
Smith has good length in a slight frame as an outside receiver. He has legitimate field-stretching speed and should threaten for one of the fastest 40 times at the Combine if given the opportunity. He has worked hard to develop his underneath game after it limited his opportunities to start his college career. His speed should earn him an opportunity in a camp, though his age and production profile likely make him an UDFA.
Rundown
Smith is a track athlete who worked to develop into a rounded receiver. He earned first-team All-AAC honors in his sixth season and has generated positive buzz on the All-Star camp circuit.
