Scouting Report
Elijah Sarratt may not get the headlines reserved for teammate Fernando Mendoza, but his rise defines the story of National Champion Indiana. Sarratt was a zero-star recruit who started his career at Saint Francis. After one season, he joined his older brother Josh on Curt Cignetti's final James Madison team and immediately became the offensive focal point. The younger Sarratt followed Cignetti to Indiana, taking on the role of the primary receiver and helping the Hoosiers win their first championship. Sarratt's 15 touchdowns were the second most in school history, while his 23 in two seasons are the third most in an Indiana career.
Sarratt is a sure-handed possession receiver. He wins with strength, tempo, and nuance in his routes. He lacks the top-end speed to consistently profile as a vertical threat at the NFL level, though he is comfortable competing with defenders for catches downfield. He is at his best on back-shoulder routes, lulling the defender into a comfort zone, then winning with strength at the catch. He usually played outside, allowing him opportunities in the intermediate and short areas. Sarratt's best path to fantasy utility is as a volume receiver and red zone threat. He should hear his name called on Day 2.
Rundown
Sarratt blends strength with excellent hands, profiling as a possession receiver. He is effective in the short and intermediate areas, though he will likely struggle to separate quickly against NFL coverage.
