Will Grant's Staff Confidence Pool (No Spread) Week 8 Will Grant Published 10/27/2016

Looking to dominate your office pool this season? 18 Footballguys.com staff members are here to help you out. Each week they will pick the winners of every NFL game, and rank their selections based on how confident they are that the team will win. The most confident pick gets 16 points, and the least confident gets just 1. We'll even total up everyone's picks so you can get an 'overall consensus' on who our staff think will be the most likely winners. Each week we'll announce the weekly winners, and track the overall record for the entire season. A couple of things to note before we get to the picks:

  • Picks for this pool are straight up (no point spread considered). 
  • Picks are due on Wednesday nights, and may not reflect late-breaking news. If your league allows for last minute changes, please make adjustments to your office pool accordingly. 
  • Our staffers also play in weekly picks Against The Spread, and Survivor Style 'Pick one Winner each week' formats as well. Check out the other weekly articles for more help with those type of games. 

RESULTS FROM LAST WEEK

Week 1 Dave Larkin crushed the field and put himself into the top spot overall. Since then, everyone's been playing catch-up and Larkin's lead has been slowly dwindling. This week, Larkin said 'ENOUGH' and put up a great score, winning his second weekly challenge and extending his lead overall. Larkin only had four misses this week, dodging the major roadblocks along the way. Jason Wood also only had four losses, but he took a big hit on the Seattle game, losing 7 confidence points.

The Seattle - Arizona tie turned out to be a loss for everyone. Some leagues go the other way and give everyone a win, but our contest is the most conservative one possible so you are always covered. Buffalo, Minnesota, Baltimore and Atlanta were also key lossess that hurt the board. 

OVERALL RANKINGS

Larkin's lead jumped from 20 points to 35 this week with his big win. Wimer slipped into 3rd and Brimacombe moved into 2nd, but fell farther behind. With this week's depressed scoring, Larkin's lead is pretty safe.

HEAVY FAVORITES

Tennessee starts out the week as a strong favorite for tonight's game. Only Larkin was brave enough to take Washington over the Bengals on Sunday. The Vikings are a unanimous choice to win on Monday night, and the Cowboys, Broncos, Patriots and Jets are all heavily favored by most of the staff.  

DUAL SUPPORT

Detroit at Houston was the hard game this week, with only 71 total confidence points and the Lions being a slight favorite. For the Arizona, Carolina game, the Panthers are a slight favorite at home, but there are only 84 total confidence points for the game. Oakland is favored by more than 2 to 1 over Tampa Bay, but that game has only 95 total confidence points. Atlanta is a heavy favorite over Green Bay, but there were only 99 total confidence points wagered on the game so be careful with that one. 

ODDS AND ENDS

With six teams off this week, the maximum number of total points that a staffer can get is only 91 this week. In your local leagues, this is not the week to take a lot of chances.
