Scouting Report
Jeff Caldwell had an unlikely path to the 2026 draft. He played soccer and basketball growing up, until he tried football at his brother Frank's urging. In high school, he played behind current 49er Jordan Watkins and Demontae Crumes, who played at Kentucky. Between his junior and senior seasons, a growth spurt took Caldwell from 5-9 to 6-4. A class of 2020 senior, COVID took away most of his final opportunity, and he ended up following Frank to Lindenwood University. Jeff Caldwell became a star immediately and was a finalist for the Walter Payton FCS player of the year in 2024. He hit the portal with a year left, choosing Cincinnati over Oklahoma at quarterback Brendan Sorsby's urging.
Caldwell is a 2025 Bruce Feldman Freak. Cincinnati coaches reported an 11-foot, 9-inch broad jump, 7 inches longer than any official 2025 Combine leap. Caldwell is a huge receiver who primarily served as a downfield threat with Cincinnati after starring at Lindenwood. He profiles as a supporting player with the athleticism to push vertically. His size and leaping ability should make him a red-zone threat. He is a wildcard worth knowing in the draft process.
Rundown
Caldwell was a late bloomer in high school who went on to become a finalist for FCS player of the year. A huge receiver with high-end athletic traits and minimal D1 production, Caldwell is a mystery box.
