Scouting Report
Zavion Thomas' final regular-season game showcased a productive but under-the-radar career. In the loss to Oklahoma, he caught a touchdown pass, threw a pass, recorded two rushes, and returned two punts. A four-star recruit who gained over 2,000 scrimmage yards in his final high school season, Thomas played two years at Mississippi State before returning home to LSU. He led the SEC in kick return yards in his first season in Baton Rouge. His return success earned a larger offensive role, though LSU's struggles as a unit capped his production. Over his four years, he gained 2,947 all-purpose yards, scoring 11 touchdowns. He earned second-team freshman All-America honors in the return game.
Thomas capped his career with an opportunity at the Shrine Bowl, where his ability to generate separation consistently stood out. Thomas' NFL future depends on special teams contributions. He is quick in the short-area passing game and dangerous after the catch. Offensively, he was utilized in a gadget role, working in multiple receiver sets or out of the backfield. Thomas has excellent speed and could threaten one of the fastest times if he gets an opportunity at the Combine.
Rundown
Thomas has been a consistent producer as a returner and with a gadget role offensively. He is one of the fastest receivers in the class and consistently generated separation during Shrine Bowl practice.
