D'Andre Swift

D'Andre Swift seems a placeholder for the Bears this year. Despite playing 17 games under the previous regime, he failed to reach 1000 yards rushing and only recorded more than 100 yards in a game once. The bright side is that Ben Johnson was part of the offensive staff when Swfit was drafted by Detroit. The negative is that Johnson was offensive coordinator when Detroit traded him to the Eagles. 

How will Ben Johnson use Swift in the offense? Will he see consistent rushing opportunities, or will he see the majority of his touches as a receiver? How will the Bears adjust to Johnson's offense? These are all factors to consider.

The Bears fans wish-casted for Nick Chubb or J.K. Dobbins and got neither. It means Swift will likely lead the way while paired with one of Kyle Monangai or Roschon Johnson.

Look for Swift to lead the backfield as a receiver and be a close  second for rushing yards, but not the red-zone scorer.  

A key component in an offense that has produced fantasy studs. 

He's a solid 212 pounds and is extremely athletic. He's dynamic enough to beat defenders to the edge and certainly good enough to produce for Ben Johnson. He just put up 1,345 total yards and ranked tenth out of all running backs in receiving yards (386) last season. As we saw in 2022 when Swift was with Johnson in Detroit, it is expected that he'll share the load with another running back. However, he can still pay off this draft cost as a dual-threat in what projects to be a much-improved offense.

Swift has been a per-game top-24 running back every year of his career and has very little backfield competition this year.

He's the best-suited option to operate as Ben Johnson's lead back, especially early in the season. There's receving upside, too. He's running behind an improved offensive line, in an ascending offense, with a play caller who's worked with him before. There's plenty to like here.
