Matt Waldman
Giddens has the athletic ability of an NFL starter. He also displayed moments at Kansas State that could generate excitement about his ability when given a superficial examination.
Long-term, this may pan out. Short-term, Giddens still has a lot of work ahead. Giddens makes a lot of unforced errors with a variety of skills and concepts for the position: reading his keys, using better pacing, making sound cuts, pass protection, and unforced errors as a receiver.
Giddens and Seth McGowan will be competing for the RB2 role behind workhorse Jonathan Taylor. If Taylor gets hurt, I'm betting on McGowan until we enough from Giddens on the field to flip-flop the pecking order.

DJ Giddens nursing hamstring injury
Indianapolis Colts RB DJ Giddens (hamstring) has been sidelined with a hamstring injury, allowing rookie RB Seth McGowan to take first- and second-team reps. Giddens has also dropped a few passes in training camp when he has been on the field. RB Ulysses Bentley IV has also made a push for the third job, putting additional pressure on Giddens.

Indianapolis Colts RB DJ Giddens has a better understanding of the offensive system and showed growth during offseason workouts, according to head coach Shane Steichen.
Indy aware of Jonathan Taylor's workload
Indianapolis Colts RB Jonathan Taylor led the league with 323 carries and was one of 11 running backs to play in all 17 games last season. Head coach Shane Steichen said the team is aware of it and plan to use RBs Seth McGowan and DJ Giddens to supplement Taylor. 'I think he led the league last year in carries, but talking to him after the season, he said he felt good,' Steichen said. 'But yeah, obviously he's a hell of a player. It's hard to take him off the field when he's running so good, but getting Seth (McGowan) in the fold and DJ (Giddens) and see how those guys come along in training camp, and we'll go from there.'
