George Pickens

Pittsburgh has a methodology for drafting wide receivers under Mike Tomlin. Draft highly talented, but problematic guys at considerable value in the draft. Use them, get great production on rookie contracts and move on. Antonio Brown, Chase Claypool, Diontae Johnson, James Washington, Santonio Holmes, JuJu Smith-Schuster, Martavis Bryant all washed out elsewhere. Emmanuel Sanders and Mike Wallace are the only exceptions..  George Pickens has looked explosive at times, disinterested at others. Pittsburgh had seen enough of the downside and traded him cheaply to the Cowboys. Dallas gets a talented wide receiver to play opposite CeeDee Lamb. Pickens arrives into a problematic situation as well. An underwhelming hire at head coach in Brian Schottenheimer, with a background not likely to contribute to high production in the passing game. Dak Prescott is in a crucial year as well. Pickens does have value in fantasy drafts, but the downside of taking him is much more likely. 

Pickens can win you a few weeks on his own, but others in his ADP range such as Calvin Ridley and Chris Olave offer more reliable volume.

Pickens will stretch the field vertically for Jake Ferguson, Kavontae Turpin, and CeeDee Lamb to roam free. Pickens will also earn contested boundary targets and deep shots behind the secondary. Expect figures approaching 1,000 yards -- good enough for a fantasy starter in many leagues. 

He's now in a better fantasy environment in Dallas, and he's an elite talent who uses every bit of his 6'3.2" height to dominate at the catch point. I don't blame anyone for being excited to draft him. He's a fine pick at cost.
