Will Lee III exits with 'a pretty good hamstring' as Panthers CB injuries mount
Panthers rookie CB Will Lee III left Thursday's 27-19 loss to the Packers with what head coach Dave Canales called "a pretty good hamstring" and did not return. Lee, who has started since Week 4, was hurt on a 53-yard completion to Christian Watson and was replaced by Chau Smith-Wade for the rest of the game. Carolina is also without CBs Jaycee Horn and Mike Jackson, who are on injured reserve, and Akayleb Evans, who was placed on IR this week. Canales said second-year CB Corey Thornton is "going to get that opportunity real soon."
Will Lee, Akayleb Evans likely CB starters; Horn, Jackson out '8-ish weeks'
Panthers head coach Dave Canales said on Wednesday that rookie CB Will Lee III and CB Akayleb Evans are likely to start at cornerback with CBs Jaycee Horn and Mike Jackson on injured reserve. Canales said neither Horn nor Jackson is out for the season, giving a timeline of "8-ish weeks." Jackson had surgery, while Horn did not need surgery and is rehabbing with the team.
Rookie Will Lee to take on 'big role' with Horn, Jackson on IR
The Panthers placed their top two cornerbacks, CB Jaycee Horn and CB Mike Jackson, on injured reserve on Wednesday ahead of Sunday's Week 4 game against the Lions. Rookie CB Will Lee III will take on a big role in their absence. Horn sustained a quad injury in Sunday's loss to the Browns, and Jackson was ruled out of that game with a groin injury.
