1. NE - WR Cameron Meredith headed to New England

Source: The Athletic - Nick Underhill

Free-agent WR Cameron Meredith (Saints) agreed to terms on an undisclosed contract with the New England Patriots on Friday, Aug. 2.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Patriots love picking through other teams scrap heaps. Meredith could be a big slot for them if his knee is sound, although that's the question looming over Meredith's future after the Saints released him so early in camp.

2. BAL - QB Lamar Jackson to limit running?

Source: ESPN.com - Jamison Hensley

Baltimore Ravens QB Lamar Jackson told 'The Rich Eisen Show' on Thursday, Aug. 1, that he doesn't expect to carry the ball as much as during his rookie season when he set the NFL single-season record in 2018 for rushing attempts by a quarterback with 147 despite not making his first start until Week 11.'I don't think I'll be running as much as I did last year. There were a lot of (run-pass options) and a lot of sudden changes in last year's game. This will be totally different,' Jackson said.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Jackson can still make up for a drop in rushing attempts per game with better pass efficiency and more pass attempts. He's still one of the best quarterbacks to target outside of the top ten.

3. ARI - QB Kyler Murray adjusting to speed

Source: ESPN.com - Josh Weinfuss

Arizona Cardinals QB Kyler Murray said he is feeling comfortable overall but added he is still adjusting to the speed of the NFL game. 'I think that's probably one of the biggest adjustments is windows are tighter,' Murray said Thursday, Aug. 1. 'You got to anticipate things a lot more. But that makes it fun. College, you know, dudes would be wide open. It'd be really easy stuff like that. It's part of being in the NFL.'

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

This is something Murray can really only adjust to on the job in the regular season, although defenses will also have to adjust to him. This will be one of the best stories to watch this season to see who has the upper hand and how it changes over the course of the year.

4. SF - RB Matt Breida showing off versatility

Source: ESPN.com - Nick Wagoner

San Francisco 49ers RB Matt Breida 'continues to get used all over the place,' according to ESPN's Nick Wagoner, who adds that Breida is also starting to get some looks as a kick returner.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Breida is likely to get some work in a RBBC with Tevin Coleman. The 49ers might even go with a 'hot hand' approach which would really frustrate Fantasy GMs in 2019.

5. TB - Ronald Jones popping

Source: Buccaneers.com - Scott Smith

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Ronald Jones will be a 'happening player' in 2019, according to head coach Bruce Arians. 'He's an explosive player,' Arians said. 'He's going to make big plays like that.'

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Jones is more worthy of a pick in fantasy drafts than Peyton Barber on potential alone, but if both backs play significant roles, neither will be a consistent fantasy contributor.

6. SEA - RB Rashaad Penny looking quick

Source: The Athletic - Michael-Shawn Dugar

Seattle Seahawks RB Rashaad Penny has looked faster and more agile during training camp, according to Michael-Shawn Dugar of The Athletic.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Penny should be better this year, although he's still not likely to play a large role in the passing game and he probably won't overtake Chris Carson. He'll need a Carson injury to be a hit at his ADP.

7. NE - RB Sony Michel finding his form

Source: Boston Herald - Kevin Duffy

New England Patriots RB Sony Michel (knee) saw 'increased work' during practice Thursday, Aug. 1, according to Kevin Duffy of the Boston Herald.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

So far so good for Michel in camp, including some more work as a receiver. His ADP could start to creep up as long as this positive trend continues.

8. NE - WR Cameron Meredith on PUP list

Source: ESPN.com - Field Yates

New England Patriots WR Cameron Meredith (knee) was placed on the Active/Physically Unable to Perform list Friday, Aug. 2.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Meredith has been a non factor in the NFL for a couple of seasons due to knee problems. He was productive with the Bears in 2016, but Meredith barely played for the Saints in 2018 and was released last month. The Patriots quickly signed Meredith but this move shows how ulra-cautious they are going to be with the veteran.

9. SF - TE Niles Paul released

Source: ESPN.com - Field Yates

San Francisco 49ers TE Niles Paul was released Friday, Aug. 2. The team also claimed TE Daniel Helm off waivers from the Los Angeles Chargers.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Paul only lasted a week with the 49ers. He'll be hard pressed to find work and is only an end-of-the-bench guy if he does get signed.

10. KC - Hardman misses end of practice

Source: The Kansas City Star - Brooke Pryor

Kansas City Chiefs WR Mecole Hardman (illness) left practice early Friday, Aug. 2, because of an illness.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Hardman is the speedy rookie from Georgia the Chiefs added in the 2019 NFL draft. He should be back soon when he's over this illness.

11. SF - WR Trent Taylor continuing to impress

Source: The Athletic - David Lombardi

San Francisco 49ers WR Trent Taylor has 'taken his receiving presence to a new level this camp,' according to David Lombardi of The Athletic.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Taylor is an interesting slot receiver but that's about it. We'll watch him work as the No. 3 receiver for the 49ers in 2019 behind Dante Pettis and Deebo Samuel.

12. DAL - Zack Martin dealing with back issue

Source: The Dallas Morning News - Calvin Watkins

Dallas Cowboys OG Zack Martin (back) is scheduled to undergo an MRI on his back in the near future, according to The Dallas Morning News' Calvin Watkins.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Just when it looked like the Cowboys would have their offensive line back together, this comes up. The Ezekiel Elliott holdout isn't the only shadow cast over this offense right now.

13. SEA - Ziggy Ansah on track for regular season

Source: The Associated Press - Tim Booth

Seattle Seahawks DE Ziggy Ansah (shoulder) is expected to ready for Week 1 of the regular season, head coach Pete Carroll said Friday, Aug. 2.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Seahawks sorely need him with LJ Collier's foot hurting and Jarran Reed suspended for the first six games.

14. TEN - WR Corey Davis leaves practice early

Source: ESPN.com - Turron Davenport

Tennessee Titans WR Corey Davis (unspecified) left practice early Friday, Aug. 2, jogging into the locker room with a trainer and has yet to re-appear.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The team later said this is a maintenance day for him and he should be fine, so nothing to fear here.

15. TB - Dare Ogunbowale impressing

Source: Tampa Bay Times - Rick Stroud

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Dare Ogunbowale has impressed the team in training camp with his vision and blitz pickup. He has had some good inside runs and is key on special teams.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Ogunbowale or Andre Ellington will get some passing down work for the Bucs, turning this into a likely three-man backfield. It's tough see any Bucs back making a big difference in fantasy leagues unless one gets the vast majority of early-down touches.

16. PHI - Johnathan Cyprien signing with Eagles

Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter

Free-agent SS Johnathan Cyprien (Titans) agreed to a one-year deal with the Philadelphia Eagles Friday, Aug. 2. Financial terms weren't disclosed.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Cyprien will provide depth in the defensive backfield and possibly fit in some subpackages. The safeties that are more than good enough to make final rosters are starting to get signed as teams now have a good assessment of the talent on their rosters.

17. IND - RB Spencer Ware placed on Reserve/PUP list

Source: Colts.com

Indianapolis Colts RB Spencer Ware (undisclosed) was placed on the Reserve/Physically Unable to Perform list Friday, Aug. 2. The team also signed free-agent DE Dadi Nicolas (Colts). Terms of the contract were not disclosed.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Ware is a talented back but he always seems to be dealing with his fair share of injuries. This was called a 'muscle injury' by head coach Frank Reich, and now it will cost Ware at least the first six weeks of the regular season.
