Howdy Folks,

1. NYG - Daniel Jones impressing teammate

Source: NJ.com - Matt Lombardo

New York Giants QB Daniel Jones has impressed teammate TE Evan Engram. in OTAs so far. 'He's picking up [the offense] really fast,' Engram said Thursday, May 16.. 'They've been trying to throw some stuff at him, and he's handled it really well.'

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The pick of Jones has been poked fun at plenty by those on social networking and in the media. Jones could quiet all the doubters with strong play for the Giants when he's ready to start. It's just OTAs but this is a good sign. It doesn't mean Jones was the right pick or he'll be great or anything like that. Jones is athletic as a runner but inconsistent as a passer. We'll see if he can clean up his game and actually push Eli Manning for the starting job in the near future.

2. MIN - TE Kyle Rudolph has received contract offer

Source: ProFootballTalk.com - Mike Florio

Minnesota Vikings TE Kyle Rudolph has been offered a five-year contract extension, but the two sides have not made much progress in talks, according to a source. Rudolph would be paid among the top tight ends in the NFL if he signed the extension.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Rudolph refused to take a pay cut because he said he was 'too young' to do that. With an extension being offered we could see a resolution to this in the near future. Rudolph is in the final year of his deal and has a cap number of $7.2 million in 2019. An extension for Rudolph would be a negative hit on the dynasty stock of second-round rookie TE Irv Smith Jr.

3. HOU - TE Ryan Griffin done in Houston

Source: ESPN.com - Field Yates

Houston Texans TE Ryan Griffin was released Friday, May 17.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

A sixth-round pick for the Texans in the 2013 NFL draft, Griffin usually catches around 20 or so passes each season -- although there was the one year (2016) when he caught 50 passes for the Texans. His standing with the team was on shaky ground after Griffin was charged with vandalism and public intoxication after allegedly punching through a window at his Nashville hotel in late April. The Texans move forward with Jordan Thomas and rookie Kahale Warring as the top two options at the position. Griffin should get another shot before training camp.

4. BAL - Baltimore playing it safe with Miles Boykin

Source: The Athletic - Jeff Zrebiec

Baltimore Ravens third-round WR Miles Boykin (hamstring) is expected to be handled cautiously during OTAs next week as he works through a minor hamstring injury.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Boykin was their third-round pick in the 2019 NFL draft. During his time at Notre Dame, Boykin used his size and speed to make big plays. He'll need to develop better separation at the pro level, but Boykin can win at the catch point. The Ravens have reworked their WR corps this offseason looking for weapons in the passing game. Boykin could be a favorite target for QB Lamar Jackson when healthy.

5. BAL - Marquise Brown a no-go for OTAs

Source: The Athletic - Jeff Zrebiec

Baltimore Ravens first-round WR Marquise Brown (foot) will not be on the field for OTAs as he continues his recovery from Lisfranc surgery.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

This was expected when 'Hollywood' Brown was drafted. Brown had surgery back in February and has not suffered any known setbacks in his recovery. He should be ready to go by training camp and could immediately be one of the most dynamic players on the team when healthy.

6. CAR - WR Aldrick Robinson signs with Panthers

Source: Panthers.com

Free-agent WR Aldrick Robinson (Vikings) signed a one-year deal with the Carolina Panthers Friday, May 17. Financial terms weren't disclosed.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

This is Robinson's fifth stop in the NFL, and he is joining a cramped WR room in Carolina. Robinson can get deep for big touchdowns but is going to have a tough road just to make the 53-man roster with the Panthers.

7. BAL - WR Michael Floyd joining Ravens

Source: ESPN.com - Jamison Hensley

Free-agent WR Michael Floyd (Redskins) agreed to an undisclosed deal with the Baltimore Ravens Friday, May 17. The deal is pending a physical.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

It's amazing that Floyd keeps getting shots in the NFL. This is his fifth team in four years and Floyd just has 20 catches over the last two seasons. The Ravens don't have a stable wide receiving corps but they do have some young talent that could take over. Floyd might stick as veteran depth in the room, but he's not a lock for the 53-man roster.

8. BAL - OLB Shane Ray headed to Ravens

Source: NFL Network - Tom Pelissero

Free-agent DE Shane Ray (Broncos) agreed to an undisclosed deal, pending a physical, with the Baltimore Ravens Friday, May 17.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

A first-round pick of the Broncos in the 2015 NFL draft, Ray only played one full 16-game season in Denver. When he did, Ray was quite productive with 8.5 sacks. Nagging injuries, including a wrist injury that bothered him for around two seasons, set in with Ray and he was never the same. If healthy, Ray has good burst and a nose for the quarterback. We'll see if a fresh start in Baltimore gets Ray's career back on track.

9. CLE - Cleveland signs D'Ernest Johnson

Source: ClevelandBrowns.com

The Cleveland Browns signed free-agent RB D'Ernest Johnson (South Florida) on Thursday, May 16; Johnson most recently played for the AAF's Orlando Apollos.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Johnson is a 210 pound power back who was the third-leading rusher in the AAF for the Orlando Appolos. He got a cup of coffee with the Saints last year in rookie minicamp after going undrafted in 2018. The former USF runner gets a new shot with the Browns in a cramped backfield. We'll see if he can stand out and at least try to make the practice squad, but Johnson is most certainly a long-shot to make it in the NFL.

10. CLE - Cleveland waives LJ Scott

Source: ProFootballTalk.com - Mike Florio

The Cleveland Browns waived RB LJ Scott Thursday, May 16.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Now it's official. Earlier this week the word that Scott was quitting football came out and now the team has taken him off the books. Undrafted out of Michigan State this year, Scott spent a little bit of time with the Ravens and the Browns before deciding football was not for him.

11. TB - Bryant Mitchell signs with Tampa Bay

Source: ProFootballTalk.com - Charean Williams

Free-agent WR Bryant Mitchell (Cardinals) signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers Thursday, May 16.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Crazy deep dynasty GMs can keep track of this former CFL standout. Mitchell was undrafted out of Northwestern State back in 2016 but he caught on with the Edmonton Eskimos that year and spent three seasons in Canada. The Cardinals signed him to a futures contract back in January but he was waived about a week ago. Now, he's getting a shot in Tampa.

12. SF - Deebo Samuel ready to produce?

Source: 710 ESPN Seattle - John Clayton

San Francisco 49ers WR Deebo Samuel should provide 'instant production' in head coach Kyle Shanahan's offense, according to John Clayton of 710 ESPN Seattle.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We love Samuel and his bully mentality on the football field. He's tough to bring down after the catch and he fights to win at the catch point consistently. Samuel is a strong slot receiver but reports out of San Francisco suggest they'll try him on the outside. He's a rookie receiver to watch in deeper re-draft leagues and most certainly scoop him up everywhere you can in dynasty formats.

13. NE - WR Dontrelle Inman contract update

Source: ESPNBoston.com - Mike Reiss

New England Patriots WR Dontrelle Inman's one-year deal includes a $200,000 signing bonus, a $100,000 reporting bonus and incentives worth up to $1 million.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Patriots have assembled quite a bit of new talent at the wide receiver position this offseason. They've added Inman this month and Demaryius Thomas earlier this offseason. The team also selected Arizona State WR N'Keal Harry in the first round of the 2019 NFL draft. We'll see how Inman fits into the mix as a no.3 or no4 receiver on the roster.

14. KC - WR Dwayne Bowe to retire with Kansas City

Source: Chiefs.com

Free-agent WR Dwayne Bowe (Browns) signed a one-day contract with the Kansas City Chiefs Thursday, May 16, to announce his retirement.

[ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Bowe hadn't played in the NFL since 2015 during his one season with the Browns. His career had some highlights, including a 2010 season where he had over 1,100 yards receiving and a whopping 15 touchdowns. However, things fell apart towards the end and that's the way many may remember him. A first-round pick of the Chiefs in the 2007 NFL draft, Bowe now officially moves on to the next chapter of his life.
