The Footballguys IDP Matchup Spreadsheet tracks trends around the league to help evaluate IDP matchups. I’ll use this article to call out some interesting numbers in the data each week.

The Schedule tab was a recent addition to try and help someone quickly identify favorable matchups each week. I pulled in some key metrics for the defense as well as the offense they are facing this week.

When I look at matchups for this week, these are the ones that look MOST FAVORABLE from a tackling perspective (with some notes if the matchup is particularly unfavorable for run vs pass):

• KANSAS CITY (vs Philadelphia) – Eagles offense generates 57.3 tackle opps/game (32 rush attempts)
• PITTSBURGH (at Cleveland) – Browns offense generates 56.7 tackle opps/game (34 rush attempts)
• CHICAGO (at Detroit) – Lions offense generates 56.1 tackle opps/game (29 rush/25 pass)
• CAROLINA (vs Dallas) – Cowboys offense generates 54.9 tackle opps/game (25 completions)
• CINCINNATI (at Baltimore) – Ravens offense generates 54.1 tackle opps/game (32 rush attempts)

In contrast, these matchups look LEAST FAVORABLE from a tackling perspective (with some notes if the matchup is particularly unfavorable for run vs pass):

• CLEVELAND (at Pittsburgh) – Steelers offense generating 45.4 tackle opps/game (19.2 completions)
• BUFFALO (vs NY Jets) – Jets offense generating 45.7 tackle opps/game (22 rush attempts)
• JACKSONVILLE (vs Tennessee) – Titans offense generating 45.9 tackle opps/game (18 completions)
• LA CHARGERS (at Green Bay) – Packers offense generating 45.9 tackle opps/game (20 completions)
• MIAMI (vs Las Vegas) – Raiders offense generating 46.1 tackle opps/game (20 completions)

You may also want some help picking out matchups for pass rushers. These are some that look MOST FAVORABLE to me from a pass-rush perspective:

• WASHINGTON (vs NY Giants) – Giants allowing 5.4 sacks/game
• NY GIANTS (at Washington) – Commanders allowing 4.7 sacks/game
• BUFFALO (vs NY Jets) – Jets allowing 3.8 sacks/game
• JACKSONVILLE (vs Tennessee) – Titans allowing 3.7 sacks/game
• DALLAS (at Carolina) – Panthers allowing 3.6 sacks/game
