The NFL season has opened with a wave of nagging and season-altering injuries on both sides of the ball. Offensive stars still dominate the headlines, but defenses have absorbed their share of the damage through four weeks. So what does a fantasy manager do: fold and wait for next year, or identify the real next man up? That is why we treat IDP as a fluid market. No one is injury-proof, but replacements are always available if you know where to look. No more explanations. No more excuses. The job is to win games. Ring the bell.

Fortune 5

S Minkah Fitzpatrick: Fitzpatrick reintroduced himself this week, and it was a long time coming. The ability was never the question. The growing gaps between the boom weeks were. That is the uncomfortable truth IDP managers have been sitting with. Father Time comes for everyone. A few players still know how to turn the clock back. It is early to call him this season's Benjamin Button. A 16-tackle explosion with an interception was still his highest-scoring week in the last two seasons. That is the version managers drafted: a free safety who can pile up tackles when the offense is in front of him and still flip a drive in coverage. The injuries have interrupted the consistency. They have not erased the ceiling. Keep the age in mind. He is still only 29, and teams keep trading for him for a reason. That is real value, not nostalgia. The market has priced in the volatility. If the snaps and the opportunities hold, he can quietly finish the year at the top of the position.

EDGE Byron Young: Just like that. One week after landing in the Falling 4, Young had his best game of the season. Through three weeks, he had 10 total tackles and a sack. In Week 4, he posted six tackles, 2.5 sacks, and a forced fumble. He nearly eclipsed his entire season stat line in one afternoon. You cannot factor that level of production in week to week. You can get excited. Young is still an animal on the edge for the Rams. Last season's breakout fed lineups, so the slow start had the market panicking. That is how this league works. There is a fluidity to it. One quiet stretch does not erase the player. Young is off the worry radar. We have seen that the same rusher is still in there. It just took a few weeks for the tape to confirm it.

S Evan Williams: We need to start having the conversation. Evan Williams could be the best safety in the game. The leap from his rookie year to year two was already real. He posted his first 100-tackle season and stopped looking like a flier. Through Week 4, he is the leader in the clubhouse at the position. The floor is the part the market keeps underselling. His low mark this season is a seven-tackle game, and six of those were solo. That is not empty volume. That is a safety living in the action every week. Last week he showed the piece we were still waiting on: the boom play. Seven tackles, an interception, and a sack. That is elite production at any position. At defensive back, it is a week-winner. He has already shown the floor. Now the ceiling is on tape. Do not wait for the rest of the room to price him like the safety he is becoming.

LB Alex Singleton: Singleton is the vegetable of IDP. The flash and buzz of the potato chips always steal the attention. The veggies are what actually keep the roster healthy. He is not going to wow you with a week-winning sack or a pick-six. He is going to row the boat, week after week, and dare you to get bored. His high mark for a season is 177 tackles. It has been two years since that peak, but the foundation is already back in place for a return to the 130-to-150 range. So what if the sacks do not come in bunches? So what if the interceptions stay rare? He has not posted fewer than eight tackles in a game this season, and a 14- and a 16-tackle week are already in the mix. That is not a hot streak. That is a role. Singleton sustains like oatmeal. You do not need to add sugar when the floor already tastes this sweet. Boring wins leagues. Do not get cute and chase the candy.

LB Payton Wilson: It has been a while since a Steelers inside linebacker landed in the Fortune 5. Wilson is forcing the issue. He has always been treated as a secondary choice in IDP lineups: a high-quality depth piece, with the upside that comes with a young player. The games just had not matched the profile. Until this season. Through Week 4, he has 34 tackles, four tackles for loss, and a sack. The part that should move the market is the splash. In each of his last three games, he has posted a different big play. A defended pass here and there can sound like hype, but Wilson did that just twice all of last season. If the tackle ceiling is 120, you need the rest of the box score to matter. He is showing he can push past that tackle number and still contribute everywhere else. That is why he belongs in the conversation more than he has. Young, in the role, and producing.
