"This just in: [your fantasy player] is heading to the locker room with an injury."

We've all read that line far too often over the past two weeks. I won't give you any more PTSD than you already have, so let's skip the pleasantries and get right into the meat and potatoes of this week's injury report to get you ready for Week 4.

Key: Position Player, Team | Injury | Projected Return to Play

RB De'Von Achane, Miami | Torn ACL | Projection: Season-Ending

De'Von Achane was ruled out in Week 3 after suffering a non-contact injury to his left knee. It was difficult to see exactly what happened on video, but after the game, Miami head coach Jeff Hafley seemed to indicate that the injury could be serious.

There is a brief moment on video where Achane's knee appears to shift forward before his leg gives way. With that type of mechanism, the primary concern would be an ACL tear, which would also align with Hafley's post-game comments regarding the potential severity. An ACL tear would obviously end Achane's season.

Monday morning Adam Schefter confirmed that Achane tore his ACL and his season would be over.

WR Justin Jefferson, Minnesota | Ankle | Projection: Week 8

Justin Jefferson had his left foot trapped underneath a Tampa Bay defender and suffered an ankle injury. Minnesota has not disclosed the exact diagnosis, but based on the mechanism, I think there is reason to be concerned about a high ankle sprain. High ankle sprains average roughly four weeks missed for NFL wide receivers, with some data also pointing toward decreased fantasy production after returning.

It's also possible Jefferson suffered an eversion ankle sprain, which appears to be the injury flavor of the month in 2026. These injuries can still result in an extended absence, but the typical timeline is closer to 1-2 weeks. More importantly for fantasy, there are fewer severe outlier cases associated with significant declines in production after returning compared to high ankle sprains. If you roster Jefferson, you're certainly hoping for the latter.

QB Baker Mayfield, Tampa Bay | Thumb | Projection: TBD
