Scouting Report
Barika Kpeenu hails from West Fargo, North Dakota, where he attended Sheyenne High School and emerged as a top local prospect. Kpeenu was a two‑time all‑state first‑team selection in high school. He committed early to North Dakota State and enrolled in 2021, redshirting his freshman season to acclimate to the college game. His role steadily grew amidst flashes. He had a breakout senior year in 2025, leading the Bison in rushing yards while accumulating 1,253 scrimmage yards and 21 touchdowns.
Kpeenu plays much bigger than his listed weight, getting downhill quickly and running through defenders. While he's best between the tackles, he's shown an ability to bounce runs outside when required. He favors decisiveness and violence over patience, occasionally leaving yards on the field by failing to let blocks fully develop. His muscular build and tenacious tackle-breaking may give the appearance of a goal-line back at the next level, but his deceptive speed allows him to rip off chunk plays when afforded a hole. He's also an underrated receiver, capable of running crisp routes and using his hands to catch the ball. Kpeenu has some limitations due to tight hips and footwork, but he can excel in an RPO-heavy scheme that allows him to get in space and win one-on-one matchups.
Rundown
Kpeenu is a violent, downhill runner with deceptive speed and three-down utility who fits best in RPO and zone-based offenses.
