Scouting Report
Chamon Metayer made an impact at two different programs in college. He was involved with his community in high school, logging over 150 hours of community service. Originally a three-star recruit via 247 and a four-star by ESPN, Metayer -- who also played basketball -- committed to Cincinnati out of high school. He played sparingly as a freshman, but was the team's receiving touchdown leader in 2023. He entered the transfer portal, committed to Colorado, but then re-entered before ever taking a snap for the Buffaloes. He landed at Arizona State, where he was a starter for two years.
Metayer is an excellent move tight end at the college level. He spent the majority of his time in the slot or as a receiver split out rather than in a true in-line alignment. He lacks the fluidity in his routes to be a big slot at the next level, and he also has a lackluster history as a blocker. With the influx of move tight ends being vital parts of offenses in the NFL, he can flourish if a system uses him to his strengths on shallow crossers and in the flats.
Rundown
Metayer is more of a receiver than a tight end and will need to refine his route-running and run-blocking to earn playing time.
