Scouting Report

Cody Hardy worked his way up through the FCS ranks before becoming a key part of NC State's 2025 season. Hardy played both sides of the ball for his high school team as a tight end and defensive end, and occasionally played defensive tackle. He also won a state championship as a wrestler during his junior year. Originally a zero-star recruit, Hardy redshirted and then played three seasons at Elon. He transferred ahead of his redshirt senior season to NC State, and was their inline blocking tight end for most of the season. His ability to square up defensive ends allowed the team to move their receiving tight end, Justin Joly, all over the field.

Hardy only ran 90 routes this season and caught six passes. He's extremely limited as a receiver and is closer to an extra offensive lineman than a player likely to matter for fantasy purposes. He's exceptional at using leverage to seal larger defensive linemen in the run game and has the power to overwhelm slimmer edge defenders. He has experience in all aspects of special teams for a tight end, and that may be his route to making a roster at the next level.

Rundown

Hardy is a blocking specialist who hopes to make a team as their third tight end or special teams specialist.
