Scouting Report
DeQuan Finn is a puzzling NFL prospect who bounced around college football for seven years. He was Mr. Football for Michigan in 2018 and committed to Toledo as a three-star recruit out of high school. He would redshirt and then start for three years. He entered the transfer portal after being at Toledo for five years, then landed at Baylor, where he played sparingly following a rib injury. He entered the portal again, and landed at Miami of Ohio, and was their starter for 2025. After 10 games, it was announced that he would forgo the rest of the season to prepare for the NFL, despite the team being 5-5 and fighting for a bowl game.
Finn is electric in the open field. Even against higher levels of competition, he consistently breaks tackles and ruins angles of pursuit. His release point and footwork are both unorthodox, which led to pretty pedestrian passing numbers across seven years in college football. He uses his athleticism to extend plays, but often, when he faces pressure or the first read is covered, he takes off, which has worked more often than not against MAC teams. Despite the lengthy amount of time in college, there is no discernible difference between his 2021 Toledo tape and his 2025 Miami of Ohio tape.
Rundown
Finn can be an athletic backup with creative packages for an NFL offense, but he will need extensive coaching on the fundamentals of the quarterback position to become a starter.
